A’s Notes: Coliseum Negotiations, Clark, Hernaiz

By Nick Deeds | February 24, 2024 at 9:34pm CDT

As the A’s final season on their lease at the Oakland Coliseum kicks into gear, it remains unclear where the club will make its home from 2025 to 2027 while waiting for the club’s planned stadium in Las Vegas to be completed. A spokesperson for the A’s recently told Sam Blum of The Athletic that the club is willing to share the Coliseum with a pair of local soccer teams during the 2025 season and that negotiations regarding the Athletics’ short-term future in Oakland are ongoing.

The sides recently had their first meeting regarding extending the club’s stay in Oakland since the A’s announced their plan to relocate to Las Vegas last year. The club has a significant financial incentive to remain in the Bay Area for the 2025-27 campaigns, as staying in their current market would allow them to maintain their current TV deal, which Blum notes the A’s stand to receive $67MM annually from. A move to Salt Lake City or Sacramento, the other reported finalists for the A’s temporary home, would give NBC Sports California the ability to drop the deal.

That reality has brought the A’s back to the negotiating table with Oakland and, if the club’s reported willingness to share the stadium is any indication, accept at least some concessions in order to remain in Oakland for three more seasons. While the club has begun to attempt to negotiate a longer stay at their current stadium, it remains unclear how willing the city of Oakland is to compromise. Oakland mayor Sheng Thao has previously indicated that the A’s would not be welcome to remain in the Coliseum temporarily without significant concessions, up to and including the promise of an expansion franchise bringing baseball back to Oakland in the future. Thao’s camp seemingly remained committed to that stance as talks began last week, leaving the A’s odds of securing a temporary lease in Coliseum murky.

More from around the A’s and the city of Oakland…

  • MLB Players Association executive director Tony Clark recently spoke to reporters, including John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, regarding the club’s uncertain future. In his comments, Clark noted that “players had questions” about the future location of the A’s, while adding that “you would like to see come to some higher level of clarity” given the relatively short amount of time until a decision needs to be made. While the club’s lease in Oakland won’t expire until after the 2024 season comes to a close, the ambiguity over the A’s home in 2025 could complicate the creation of next year’s schedule, which Shea notes is meant to be available to teams in May. Once the A’s choose a location for the 2025-27 seasons, the location will require MLBPA approval. For his part, Clark indicated that there “may be things we need to address” regarding the A’s choice for an interim home regardless of whether the A’s remain in Coliseum or move to a minor league facility in Salt Lake City or Sacramento.
  • A’s infield prospect Darell Hernaiz figures to be on the big league radar at some point this season after he impressed with a .338/.393/.486 slash line in 71 games at the Double-A level last year before he went on to hold his own with a .300/.376/.418 triple slash in 60 games at the Triple-A level. Hernaiz has played shortstop almost exclusively throughout his professional career, making only brief cameos at second and third base. With the club likely to rely on Nick Allen at shortstop to open the season, however, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com relays that, per manager Mark Kotsay, Hernaiz will get regular reps at third base this spring. The hot corner could provide Hernaiz with a quicker path to the big leagues this season as the A’s are currently without a clear starting option at the position, with Abraham Toro standing as Hernaiz’s primary competition for the third base job to open the season barring any external additions.

A’s fans: Is the Coliseum in good enough shape for the A’s to play there the next three years without significant improvements?

The A’s also own half, so they have some responsibility in bringing it up to code. They’ve obviously ignored that responsibility in recent years.

The lease agreement actual (from what j recall) requires the licensor (the Coliseum Authority) to contribute $1M annually for capital improvements, with an additional 5% increase every year of the term. While the owner of the A’s purchased the county’s half of the coliseum complex, major improvements aren’t his legal responsibility.

No matter how bad the Coliseum is, it’s still in Oakland. Oakland is so bad right now, even In N Out had to close its doors and move out.

Fast food is a major indicator of economic health and is usually the last thing to go in a localized economy. If Starbucks and in n out close…pull out. That’s a sign there’s little to service as far as workers, etc. And it doesn’t bode well for attracting outsiders to a stadium in the area. Regardless if there are facts…perception is everything. The White Sox face this as well in Chicago.

Not making profit…not being able to staff…those aren’t indicators of economic viability. And don’t help a team that’s more of a regional team than purely Oakland.

And I despise Fisher and thus move

Fast Food Restaurants is a VERY SATURTED MARKET.
US Cities cannot support all the old and new fast food restaurants opening every other year.

Thousands of fast food restaurants close every year in every City and State.
          People are eating healthier.
The Restaurant business is extremely competitive.

          I have tried their stuff.
It is OK, but nothing special.
There are much higher quality, better tasting burgers out there if that is your food of choice.

Your statement and slander of Oakland and SF Bay Are just proves your negative biases and nothing else.

Who cares?! Do you have stock in “Inn & Out?!

Well over 2,000 fast foot joints closed last year in red states, blue states cities and towns all over the USA.

The fast food industry is over saturated.
          People are eating healthier now.

If you want to eat “a heart attack special”
then there are still plenty of choices.

As I have stated and posted: thousands of fast food joints close locations in every city and state in the country every year.
Another restaurant will take its place.

And everyone else blames Al Davis.

As much blame can be left on the city. They had the chance to move Uptown 25 years ago. Jerry Brown put condos there instead. This did nothing to improve infrastructure but it sure lined Browns pockets enough for him to subsequently buy another term as Governor.

Meanwhile, conflicts with City Manager Robert Bobb on the issue presaged Bobbs’ move to the same position in Washington DC where, guess what, he was a major player in getting Nationals Park built.

Can’t blame Davis he was the poorest owner of a NFL team and if somebody says here is $2 billion stadium for free move here why wouldn’t you?. The only part annoying is those who claim Oakland drove the Raiders away when the raiders never said they wanted a stadium in Oakland. They planned the move 3 years before their lease was up. At least davis was honest with their fans and not pretend they wanted to stay. and blame the city.

I don’t blame Al Davis for moving to Vegas. I even stayed a Raider fan all the time they were in LA. He is the one who leveraged the move back to Oakland but as a result had that freaking monstrosity of a football grandstand that ruined all the ambience of a park that had been modified strictly for baseball. Yeah the area around the Coli sucks but I knew a few good people who lived around there. Went to some banging parties back in the day.

I think what they need is a 34-35k seat stadium in downtown that isn’t some kind of mega real estate deal. Laney College was a great site, but unfortunately Fisher and Co couldn’t communicate well enough and announced their plans for the site without bothering to ask if the college was OK with it. Which they weren’t.
The idea that they NEED a waterfront ballpark to compete with SF is wrong. They just need an accessible ballpark with a nice view, local restaurants and bars and bike access.

Warriors Owner Joe Lacob has a 10 year standing offer to buy the A’s and build a New private stadium in SF Bay Area.

Reggie Jackson was the “high bidder” for the A’s.
Bud Selig “double crossed” Jackson and his financial partners (Bill Gates, Paul Allen, John McCaw).

Bud Selig forced sale of the A’s to his college fraternity brothers Lew Wolf and John Fischer.

That is how the A’s situation became so screwed up.

Yes. The Coliseum itself isn’t good, but it’s the location which truly makes it non-viable for a site rebuild, etc. The stadium is in rough shape, but the actual experience at the game, so long as the crowds don’t get too big, shouldn’t be terrible.

the sewage problem was from playing games after the Raider games. Since the stadium is built below sea level it could not take that much sewage at one time. They have not had problem since that time since there is no 50,000 + people attending the games anymore

The stadium is the same as it was 30 years ago and I’m sure it will be the same 3 years from now. The A’s won’t care if the stadium is run down from a fan perspective. As long as the field is in good shape (which it always is now that football is gone) the A’s owners won’t care about the rest.

I would guess NBC Sports would love to get out of that contract with the A’s and would welcome the chance to renegotiate or void the deal altogether. The whole situation with the Diamond Sport Group is likely to change the television broadcast model for MLB, reflecting a changing world for sports television.

Contract doesn’t include Sacramento, only the Bay Area, which is why it would have to be renegotiated. Does NBC Sports CA find value in paying $67M for broadcast rights for a 100 loss team that is moving to Las Vegas? Given the issues with the networks, I bet they see value – just not at $67M.

What I never understood is the athletics shared the stadium at least twice with the raiders. The Raiders have this nice stadium in Las Vegas that is pubic funded. Only used 8-10 football games a year.

Why won’t you just make a deal with that stadium and play there for 3-4 seasons. Sure it would be a lot cheaper and down quickly to have it where it could handle baseball.

Benefits; the athletics could developed a Las Vegas following; could see increase sales compared to Oakland and all the issues be over.

The way it sits the athletics is it is like a divorce. Almost like a husband telling his wife I am leaving you for another women in 2-3 years but do you mind still being my wife until my new wife is ready for me. Not a fun topic.

Al Davis ruined the coliseum by putting up those extra football seats and blocking views and baseball ambience.

Mark Davis and Raiders were blocked from doing commercial development around the Coliseum by John Fisher
that would have kept the Raiders in Oakland.

John Fisher and the A’s have no forward looking view. They think of this moment in time and not the repercussions of their actions. They announced their move with no plan on where they would be playing for the three years after their lease expires. I think that they announced Vegas the SAME week that they were supposed to be entering final negotiations with Oakland to try and get additional leverage with the city, but the mayor didn’t play Fisher’s game and it has been a comedy of errors since then.

          Fisher is the worst.

SF Bay Area fans attended and supported the teams when the A’s had a great, competent, Owner who cared about the team and the fans and spent money putting a competitive, exciting team on the field that was playoffs competitive.

When Walter Haas Jr Owned the A’s
the A’s were drawing over 50,000 fans per game in pennant races (the largest amount of any team in that season for a regular season game).

The A’s had 50,000+ home field fans for games against the SF Giants when both teams were competitive and in pennant races.

And, the A’s drew well over 50,0o0 fans for an A’s home playoff game @ the Coliseum in Oakland that broke an MLB attendance record for a playoffs game attendance.

Fans will not be loyal to INCOMPETENT OWNERS LIKE FISHER WHO FIRE SALE ALL THEIR YOUNG ALL STAR PLAYERS EVERY 3-4 YEARS AND INTENTIONALLY LIE TO , TAKE MONEY FROM AND SABOTAGE THEIR TEAM WITH THE NEFARIOUS INTENT TO SLINK OUT OF TOWN LIKE A SNAKE OR A COCKROACH IN THE NIGHT.

So either you are a paid troll for the MLB Commissioner Manfred, or for the SF Giants trying to establish a baseball monopoly in the SF Bay Area
Or for the worst owner in MLB sports
          (Fisher.. worse than Frank McCourt_

I question what Oakland thinks they are accomplishing here. You’d think the best course of action would be amicable seeing as the A’s are gonna leave either way now. By feuding with a leaving team you’re just making it harder for a potential expansion team to come to Oakland. I mean, it would be one of the most logical spots to expand to when the A’s leave. Why burn that bridge before you even need to cross it?

The bay area itself is a cesspool when it comes to politics, but it’s a really great place to live for the most part. Oakland’s politicians take it to the next level and make sure the city isn’t even a nice place to live.

The A’s are leaving. It’s done. Make the best of it by dramatically increasing the lease costs in a way that essentially shares the TV revenue. That’s a realistic concession.

MLB is still practicing the billionaire boys club stadium extortion racket what ever they can get away with by trying to hold taxpayers hostage to their demands and playing cities off against each other.

Meanwwhile, another privately financed stadium with the Owner’s own cash and credit is getting ready to open in Inglewood, CA for the Clippers and the Olympics in 2026. Billionaire Owner Steve Balmer(Microsoft) is using his own cash and credit to built the 2B New Home of the Clippers Intuit Arena. Inglewood is a working class area just like Oakland.

I wonder if existing loyalties would hinder a team in Indianapolis or Columbus. Minor League games are more about fun factors and results. Indy has the Cubs, White Sox, Cardinals, Reds, and Tigers all relatively close, so most baseball fans already have an MLB team to cheer for. Columbus has Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Detroit. And the only really big market among those cities is Chicago, which has two teams.

The closeness is exactly WHY you put a team in Indy. They have a loyal fanbase who attend games on the regular. Same with Columbus. Some of the teams you mentioned draw little to games. Guess what? More road trips, more fans attending games and more people watching.

You don’t deprive a city of a team if they can sustain support. Close in proximity? Horrible excuse not to have a franchise.

Tampa Bay is full of Yankees fan retirees, which is part of the reason the Rays have a limited fan base. A team in Indy or Columbus would either develop a small fan base or pull away from the smaller fan bases surrounding them. I don’t think either would create very many more Major League Baseball fans.

          Horrible comparison.

Tampa Rays are not in Tampa. They are in the middle of nowhere in St Pete’s.

And what you fail to understand is the teams like Cleveland and the White Sox looking for a crowd, places like Indy and Columbus take the roadie to those places. Toronto has a charter tour to Cleveland and it would be a benefit if they put Cleveland and Detroit in the AL East.

To choose a city that doesn’t care about baseball is foolish, and it seems you’re in that camp.

The Tampa Bay area has a number of minor league teams and leads the nation in professional baseball attendance per capita. There are baseball fans there in abundance.

The problem is that the Rays are not in Tampa. Even the owner of the Rays has said the best place for the team would be in the Ybor city area of Tampa.

As has been said over and over and over by people that attend games there, the stadium is in a horrible place to get to for most of the population of the region. Its an hour plus drive for 75% of the population of Tampa Bay. If there is a wreck on any of the bridges you have to cross, that time can easily double.

So people have to leave work at 5pm, fight traffic to get home, then spend an hour more in traffic and hope to get to the ballpark by 7pm.

Then when they get there its not in a great area with little to do before or after a game and the stadium is terrible.

These are things I know from experience. I still own a home there near my daughter and will attend a handful of Rays games again this year like I do every year.

Oakland will NOT get an expansion franchise and no current team would want to relocate there. The mayor can forget most of her demands for a lease extension for the A’s. No way does she get a guarantee of an expansion team, no way do the A’s give up the name Athletics or the team colors. The city should though charge a large fee for a lease extension. Seeing how Fisher has treated the city, there is no reason for them to be amicable. Fisher backing out of Howard Terminal site after the city spent millions on planning, the environmental impact study, and defending against multiple lawsuits hasn’t exactly endeared him to city officials.

If they renew the lease as is, the Coliseum Authority loses money. So no reason to do that.

Fisher has refused to allow other sports to share the coliseum which cost the city money.

The city has many reasons to distrust and dislike Fisher and doesn’t benefit from making things easy for him and the A’s.

Manfred has not exactly been helpful in this whole situation, so the city is not likely to make it easy on MLB without some give from Manfred and the other owners.

The city is looking for major concessions from both Fisher and MLB. Fisher has $200 million reasons to sell the land to AASEG and MLB has reason to guarantee the Bay Area a franchise because they will get up to $2 billion in franchise fees, a waterfront ballpark at Howard Terminal, and possibly the continuation of a $67 million annual TV deal.

The A’s aren’t asking to renew the lease. They are asking to do a new lease. Even Fisher, with $70MM on the line, knows he won’t be getting the same deal. The city can ask for a lot more, because if Fisher walks away, he’s poorer. At the same time, they have to be reasonable, because if Fisher walks away, the city is poorer. That stadium has costs whether teams play in it or not.

Or you know, Oakland’s leadership and representatives could try to focus on things which benefit the city more than trying to exact revenge on Fisher. It’s only millions of dollars of taxpayer money at stake.

It’s wild the city of Oakland doesn’t seem to recognize Fisher will get a new TV deal… Better yet, make the TV deal for Las Vegas and rename the team the Las Vegas Athletics or whatever just to increase fan interest in the team which is coming to town. Totally realistic.

The city of Oakland’s bargaining position is quite dubious.

Fisher will get a new TV deal in Vegas and potentially at an interim city from 25-27, but he’s not going to get anywhere near the $67M annualy he’s getting from his current contract with the general downturn in MLB RSN evaluations and the fact that every metro area mentioned is a fraction of the media market of Oakland.

It behooves Oakland to play hard ball. Currently, Oakland is getting just $1.25M annually from the A’s lease. At that rate, the next 3 years would be worth a little less than $4M plus tax revenue generated (I have no idea what that looks like, but I’m guessing it’s not considerable) whereas the broadcast value to stay in Oakland for the A’s is $200M over the same period.

And if the A’s a) haven’t previously negotiated in good faith with the city and b) intend to leave in short order regardless of how nice the city’s lease terms are, why shouldn’t Oakland ask for the moon?

Good post. Why shouldn’t the A’s give Oakland extra money to stay since they were the ones that broke the verbal agreement. Knowing Fisher he wants it to based on attendance knowing the average attendance will be less than 5000 a game since he alienated the fans. Oakland should require a certain amount of employees hired no matter what the attendance is.

Most minority owners would be liberal: liberal politics are what has caused the collapse of California as liberals have been in charge for many decades. So a minority owner would do nothing to help the city or the team or the state.

You as a team / owner are not going draw fans and families into areas that are not seen as safe. Oakland area has an exploding crime rate; homeless camps around the city that just makes it unsafe to be in. Not going sell tickets.

Last time I checked; California and New York are seeing massive exits of the working class; retired and jobs to states such as Florida and Texas. California exit is so bad that they lost Congress seats. First time ever.

Both California and New York had billions in budget deficits. That is covered by all news sources. To date I have never seen Florida or Texas had news coverage about budget deficits.

We can argue all night but the fact is that blue states California and New York that are 85-90% democrat ram are seeing rough times. With no noted plans for pulling the states and cities out of trouble.

Yet states like Florida; Oklahoma and Texas are growing like crazy with people.

I recommend everyone get off the mainstream new channels; cbs; cnn and fox and look at the other podcast and smaller news channels like newsmax and you will see there are 2 Americas. What the media says is happening and what is really happening.

I live in California and be around Oakland and the stadium for years. I can speak first hand what I have seen.

CA and NY are net payers to the federal govt. CA on it’s own recently went from the 5th largest economy on Earth to the 4th.

Most red states, EVEN TEXAS the red state gem, are net takers from the federal government. The moocher states.

Maybe don’t intentionally become a mushroom managed minion. There are 2 Americas when one of them is reality TV, yeah. The point of that show is to make one a pawn. It’s working perfectly.

Actually, maybe that’s why. It’s like pruning a tree.

The collapse of California has been climate change. Economically, its not collapsing. Mud slides, fires, earthquakes and floods, and now, even hurricanes, are not the fault of either political party.
Regardless of race, rich people tend to be conservative because its all about the money.

The only companies moved is because they refuse to pay taxes moving to a state where the middle class pays the taxes not companies. 80% of the forest land is owned by the Feds who got their budget cuts to give rich elites tax cuts. So please stop listening to opinionated news talking heads.so you can know the truth.

          California is booming.

Every place you live or travel to has problems.
There is no perfect place in the World.

The problems you see in California I have seen every where with homeless, crime and all these other issues in cities and States all across the country and the world.

Extreme capitalism in its pure form causes wide disparities in incomes.
Supply and demand factors cause big disparities in pricing
          in housing and other services.
Since so many successful people want to live in California then that causes the market prices to go higher for essentials especially housing.

It is similar to pricing in Hawaii, Washington State, Oregon.
and other “high demand” cities and states.

Stop playing so many video games and watching
slanted, biased news shows and take a class in economics or read some books on it.

RACISM BY BUD SELIG AND MLB IS A BIG REASON THEY ARE FORCING THE A’s out of Oakland and the SF Bay Area.

Reggie Jackson and his financial backers (Bill Gates, Paul Allen and John McCaw) were blocked from purchasing the A’s and building the A’s
a New Stadium in Oakland and other sites in the SF Bay Areas.

Instead, former Commissioner BACKSTABBLED REGGIE AND STEERED THE SALE OF THE A’S TO HIS WHITE, COLLEGE FRATERNITY BROS LEW WOLFE AND JOHN FISHER?!

“fast tracked:” to buy the Oakland A’s when they had not previous interest in the A;s and in fact were Giants fans?!

Why was a bid to buy the A’s by Hall of Fame legend and African American Reggie Jackson with financial partners Bill Gates, Paul Allen and John McCaw REJECTED?!

Why WAS THERE NOT AN OPEN, COMPETTIVE BIDDING PROCESS TO BUY THE A’s and built a stadium in the SF Bay Area?!

Why did Bud Selig LIE TO REGGIE WHEN PROMISING TO GET REGGIE APPROVED AS NEW A’S OWNER IN SF BAY AREA AND THEN BACKSTABBED REGGIE?!

Why is A’s Owner Fisher ( a White guy) SUBSIDIZED BY MLB WITH REVENUE SHARING IN A NON REVENUE SHARING MARKET!?

Why is Fisher subsidized by MLB to move to LV AND WAIVING THE 400M relocation fees?!

Oakland is a Majority Minority City RUN BY WOMEN OF COLOR WHO DON’T FIT INTO THE WHITE SELIG & ; MANFRED COUNTRY CLUB SCENE.

FISHER (White Owner) IS GETTING SPECIAL TREATMENT BY MULTIPLE MLB COMMISSIONERS.

THE BAR TO MLB OWNERSHIP BY AFRICAN AMERICANS WAS SET MUCH HIGHER FOR REGGIE JACKSON THAT IT WAS FOR WHITE JOHN FISHER.

THIS LOOKS LIKE A TEXTBOOK EXAMPLE OF INSTITUTIOALIZED RACISM.

MLB does not want African American Ownership.

MLB, Selig, Manfred and the Giants are forcing the A’s out of the SF Bay Area to take a much lesser deal in LV and to subsidize Bud Selig’s underfunded white Fraternity brother(s) Wolfe and Fischer) in his attempted move to Las Vegas.(Revenue Sharing subsidies in a non revenue sharing market, waiving 400M plus relocation fees, more revenue sharing in LV, help with financing to buy the team and to build stadium in LV).

Reggie Jackson and his Financial Partners( Bill Gates, Paul Allen and John McCaw) were blocked from buying the A’s and building a new stadium in the Oakland and/or The SF Bay Area by Selig, Manfred, MLB and the SF Giants.

      marca.com/en/mlb/oakland-athletics/2023/03/24/641d…

Reggie Jackson claims Bud Selig blocked him from buying Oakland A’s
The legendary ‘Mr. October’ accuses the former Major League Baseball commissioner of blocking his attempt to acquire the team.

I reads a lot like MLB engaged in
“INSTITUTIONALIZED RACISM ” in BLOCKING AFRICAN AMERICAN Reggie Jackson from buying and owning the Oakland A’s.

Pretty good for a fan-run event. Royals had 11k in 2023, ownership’s spending spree this year got them to 20k.
Imagine if Oakland had the team-sponsored event, with an owner who spent money.

Not in Oakland Matty. Here is a synopsis of Oakland teams:

Warriors: couldn’t get a stadium agreement done with the city of Oakland, moved to San Francisco

Raiders: didn’t like sharing a stadium with the A’s. Couldn’t get a stadium agreement done with the city of Oakland, moved to Vegas.

A’s: couldn’t get a stadium agreement with the city of Oakland, moving to Vegas.

There is a distinct pattern here that involves more than just Fisher. I agree Fisher bears a lot of blame, but the negotiators at the city of Oakland have lost all the major sports teams they had…

OK here is the real facts.
Warriors never tried to get a new stadium in Oakland. They wanted to move to SF knowing there is no large venues and would be able to have huge concerts with no competition.

Raiders never negotiated with Oakland. Davis wanted to move the team to Vegas for the last decade. They were given $2 billion dollars by Vegas to move there. Who would not take $2 billion when you are the poorest owner in the NFL.

A’s did work with Oakland and was just waiting for the final papers to be d signed but covid hit and A’s owner lost about half of his wealth. Vegas offered free land and $380 million. Fisher still has not shown how he will build it or even the designs on the stadium 6 months past the date he needed to show it.

That Oakland Seals Team was owned by former A’s Owner Charlie Finley who broke up that dynastic Oakland A’s team that won 3 Championships in a row in ’72. ’73. ’74.

Because Finley was either too cheap to pay them OR
because he did not have the money to keep those teams together or both.

That team was loaded with Hall of Fame and All Star players..

The A’s need to get out of Oakland ASAP – why would anybody want to have a business there and MLB would NEVER give them an expansion team EVER.

Education standards, dignity and critical thinking appear to be absolutely dead where you are from.

SF Bay Area has a 600B dollar per year GDP
which is higher than many countries and most US States.

Only thing dying are your brain cells.

Stranger things have happened, but, I would be stunned if MLB brought an expansion team to Oakland.

This negotiation is just going to be briefly:

A’s: we’d like to temporary lease
Mayor: we won’t do a lease without promise of an expansion
Manfred: we won’t promise an expansion unless unless Oakland builds a new stadium by 2030

And then it’ll just be who budges and lowers demands

the A’s demanded that no other team can use the stadium after the stadium signed deals with a soccer team and a independent baseball team. There is a big hassle on how they can work all 3 teams playing schedule games. Also Oakland will not give them the same price deal as before. No hometown discounts to the A’s. As with Fisher he wants to pay as little as possible.

Reggie Jackson claims Bud Selig blocked him from buying Oakland A’s
The legendary ‘Mr. October’ accuses the former Major League Baseball commissioner of blocking his attempt to acquire the team.

Looks a lot like “Institutionalized Racism”
by Selig, Manfred and Major League baseball..
