I liked Willy Adames a lot when he was a Brewer, and I agree that his current offensive struggles seem more about bad luck than deterioration of skills. But I don’t agree that he’s been a “good to great” hitter up til now. Perhaps it’s just a matter of semantics, but to me the numbers mentioned are more “ok to good”.
“Adames, 2021-24…
At home: .232/.314/.463 (112 wRC+)
On road: .250/.323/.441 (109 wRC+)”
This guy lives on stats, and jiggles them around to suit his purpose.
Most of them do.
Most? All do. Managers GMS etc. It’s called analytics. Heard of it Samuel?
Careful Claude. Samuel is the great muter. He doesn’t like to be disagreed with, or challenged in any way.
I believe Steve was addressing his home/road stats, he wasn’t necessarily trying to say Adames has always been elite like 2024
Os Mountcastle.
Oof. I thought the O’Neil signing was partly made to give Mountcastle some relief of pressure from being the only rightside thumper on the squad. Man, looks like this funk going back to 2022 isn’t going anywhere.
Bleak, baby. Maybe the most the Birds get in a trade sent to a contender is cash considerations? Or the dude just get DFA’d.
I don’t think it’s so mystifying why the Cardinals didn’t trade Fedde and Hensley. They wanted to run it all back and hope for better luck in ’25. In 2024 they were in wildcard contention at the trade deadline and added, but then faded in September. It would have pissed of the few remaining fans if they totally gave up on this season. The Cardinals are not known for doing that.
I disagree. The Cardinals couldn’t hope for better luck in ’25 because luck is the main thing that kept them near .500 last season. They were never “in contention” for anything. This season the bullpen’s performance has regressed to something closer to it’s actual talent level and our record has done the same. Most fans understood that the organization needed a “reset” and were on board with trading veterans for young talent.
The Cardinals can deny the word rebuild with careful messaging and prideful decisions, but the truth is we are now in year three no matter what they call it.
Well I said they were contenders only in that they must have perceived themselves as such since they added at the trade deadline. Maybe it was just going thru the motions in order to appease the fanbase, but they did add players, though it was soon to be a moot point all around.
I just don’t think Mozeliak wanted to tear it down in his final season. He wanted one last go, one final shot at the brass ring, no matter how iffy the state of the franchise stood last offseason. Just a hunch, though, of course.
They actually managed do subtract salary by trading Edman for Fedde. Like everything else Mo does, it’s never what it he says it is.
Yeah it would be nice if he was straight with the fanbase for once. I mean it’s his last hurrah, why not? I don’t think you will be getting any clarity with Chaim either, he’s very opaque and talks in Ivy League business jargon.
It’s totally amazing….
Fans say,
“It’s only $2.5 Million, cut his sorry ass…”
Gee Willickers….How sweet it is…..or how sweet it must be
..only $2.5 million…that’s all….
Wally would have never believed it could have come to this…..
