Mets, Jose Rojas Agree To Minor League Deal

By Steve Adams | November 10, 2025 at 10:30am CDT

The Mets agreed to a minor league deal with infielder/outfielder Jose Rojas, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. The Gaeta Sports client will be invited to major league camp this spring and would be paid $820K if he makes the roster.

Rojas, 32, hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2022 but is coming off a monster 2025 season with the Yankees’ Triple-A club. The lefty-swinging slugger popped 32 home runs last year, tops in the Triple-A International League, and slashed .287/.379/.599 overall (153 wRC+). Since his last MLB appearance with the ’22 Angels, he’s spent a year in the Korea Baseball Organization (.253/.345/.474 with the Doosan Bears) and bounced between the Triple-A affiliates for the Pirates and Yankees.

All of Rojas’ big league experience has come with the Angels. He’s struggled considerably, hitting just .188/.245/.339 with a 28.6% strikeout rate — albeit in a relatively small sample of 241 plate appearances. He’s consistently torched Triple-A pitching in a much larger sample of 2050 plate appearances.

Defensively, Rojas is experienced at all four corner positions and, to a lesser extent, second base (865 innings). He played the outfield exclusively during his 2023 season in the KBO and has primarily played the infield and outfield corners since returning to North American ball. He’ll vie for a bench spot in camp and give the Mets some thump to stash in Triple-A if he doesn’t make the roster. Rojas also has a minor league option remaining, so if he’s selected to the 40-man at any point he can be shuttled between Syracuse and Queens without needing to be exposed to waivers.

Never heard of him but on a minor deal, might be ok as a bench player , BUT STEARNS WE NEED MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYERS, I’m surprised no real players signed yet

It’s just for organizational depth. Every team makes moves like this.

@alfred – not at the pace Stearns makes them. He makes more transactions in a week than the Verrazano Bridge.

It’s November 10. The market is barely open.

Could be a slow offseason as teams try to keep player costs down heading into CBA negotiations. But typically not a ton of FA movement until closer to winter meetings in early December.

This is a good minor league signing. Thump + a lot of flexibility, both positionally, but even when it comes to minor league options.

Yogi Berra, Willie Randolph, David Cone:. Rickey Henderson , Cano , Beltran , Todd Frazier , Soto , Holmes, and Carlos Mendoza just to name a few.

    Now Rojas too !!

That’s an impressive list of players and managers the Mets poached from the Yankees.

How’s that working out for the Mets?

Please correct me if I’m writing but as far as I know only Yogi Berra, who won the 1986 World Series as a manager, and Todd Frazier, who won the 2015 World Series previously played for the Yankees then won a World series with the Mets.

Face it , the Mets will never be what the Yankees once were or even what the Yankees are currently. Not even with Uncle Stevie’s bankroll.

What? Johnson was ’86 and Hodges was in 69. Also, Frazier didn’t win a WS with the Mets. The last time the Mets won a world series was 39 years ago.

On top of getting both of those astronomically incorrect, Cone and Beltran were Mets long before they were Yankees. This has to be bait

Growing up and being a long time Mets fan and working a mile from Angel Stadium I got to see this guy play. I could not believe my eyes to see this post.

I wonder if there is a way to sue the Mets for fan abuse.
This guy has no upside, absolutely SUCKS!! barely batted .200 for the Angels. I just can’t even believe I am reading this with all the assets the Mets have in the infield.

Speechless absolutely speechless, you would have to go up 50 miles from this guy to even get to dumpster diving

I sent this to other Angel fans I know here for a good laugh!
” Hitting just .188/.245/.339 with a 28.6% strikeout rate in MLB

fat, pudgy, and out of shape he can play multiple positions poorly, that is why he played the outfield in Korea, too much barbeque

@Canosucks its the David Stearns special. He gets paid 10 million a year to sit on his couch and eat potato chips. I firmly believe he makes moves like this so when the 1/100 time that it works, he can go to the press conference with a toothpick in his mouth and say “Yeah, I did that”

And what’s the point of even worrying about it when they’re keeping future Hall of Famers like that piece of garbage Gregory Soto?

Dude. It’s a minor league signing. Coming off a sudden monster year — many years after he played when you saw him — in the high minors. It’s a cheap dice roll. Who cares?

This guy can really mash. Don’t throw him an ill conceived offering over the plate do so at your own peril. This Rojas is one cookie monster
