Infielder Warming Bernabel has been outrighted off the Rockies’ 40-man roster, the team announced. Bernabel has cleared outright waivers and elected free agency. Colorado’s 40-man is now at 37 players.
The 23-year-old Bernabel made his MLB debut in July. He got off to a torrid start, going 14-for-28 with three home runs in his first seven games. Bernabel cooled off significantly after that incredible first week, hitting just .189 with one homer the rest of the way. A concussion cost him a couple of weeks in September. He finished his first foray at the highest level with a 78 wRC+ over 40 games.
More to come…

Now the hot stove is officially Warming up
If he signs overseas, will that make him “global Warming”?
We’re seeing a Warming trend in free agency finally 😉
Heart Warming.
Feels like a player they’d want to keep.
Why so serious?
Not really. He’s pretty awful. Rox new bosses are cleaning house. Good on them.
Cooling Bernabel twin brother??
The Legend of Warming Bernabel
A Colorado Outlaw
But the dude was just getting Warmed up!
I thought he was well regarded?
He was in 2022. Then he got stabbed in an altercation and he never really was the same player afterward.
That being said, I thought he did enough last season to at least stay on the roster through Spring Training. Especially once Toglia was non-tendered. I really don’t feel comfortable with Blaine Crim as the only first baseman on the roster.
Recent waiver clam Troy Johnston can perfectly play 1B. Amazing guy, you’ll love him.
Someone might claim him.
The Rockies are being aggressive instead of passive aggressive with a player. Weird.
I don’t think Crim will be on the roster for long. I think the Rockies will look for someone like Nate Lowe and maybe give Charlie Condon a shot at the 25 man roster.
The Marlins should claim this guy to make it at least a Bernabel-Johnston trade more palatable.
He can play in the KBO now and become global Warming.
Haha I read ”Warning”
I’m actually pretty surprised he cleared waivers. Seems like he’d be a pretty good MiLB get for someone.
