That’s a lot of money for a speedy defender.

get ready to say that again this winter if Boras gets his way. With his agent, speed, defense and hitting ability this guy could make 16-17 million a year

I think you may be over-exaggerating. He’s good, but that’s slugger money. I think MAYBE 12 million at the most.

I didn’t say he’s worth 16-17, I said Boras will try to get 16-17 for him

Not exactly… It’s okay to admit mistake. You said he could make 16-17 mil. You and I both know he can’t.

Very reasonable for both sides. Now lets begin to work on an extension and lock him up for a few years.

Agreed.  Let’s get working on that extension.  It’s been a while since we’ve had a true CF …

Melky Cabrera, Nate McLouth and Jordan Schafer were all true CFers…in theory

Fat chance for a Boras client. He’s going to free agency and he’s going to the highest bidder.

I think Bourn will stay in Atlanta… Supposedly when he heard he was traded he was disappointed but then heard Atlanta and apparently jumped for joy…just somethin i read so he may really want to stay in Atlanta…just a thought

Bourn is the premier top-of-the-order guy and you can’t place a number high enough on his runs prevention due to his Gold Glove CF portfolio. He has class as an individual, and does not think he is above anyone else (unlike your shoddy comparison to Juan Pierre…really??).

If the Braves are fortunate enough to re-sign him…$12 million will be low on the annual average of his next deal…imho. Only Jason Heyward is projected to achieve a higher WAR value this upcoming season amongst Braves. If you are currently paying Chipper $14 million in 2012…Bourn is deserving of every penny the market bears for him.
