Jason Bourgeois and Humberto Quintero of the Astros have been traded, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports (all Twitter links). The Nationals have been linked to Bourgeois while the Royals and Phillies are known to be looking for catching depth. The Royals have been trying to trade for Quintero, Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com tweets.

How much did Rizzo overpay by this time?
wadebets
Gotta be the Nats, right?
Blue387
Didn’t Quintero miss time last season due to injury?
Matt McDougle
Yes, and he also missed time this spring due to injury.
Rick Garcia
Interesting move. I wonder where they are heading to.
Bret Wask
Bourgeois at his best is not better than Bernadina. I hope it isnt the Nats.
kräftig. entschieden
Bourgeois’ OBP last year was .323, better than Bernadina’s .301. Safe to say he’d be an upgrade, especially with the 31 SBs and the .294 BA, even if it may be a little empty.
Bret Wask
Sorry Nick, but 250 ABs does not make someone a better hitter. Not only does Bernadina have a better MLB track record, his minor league stats have also been better.
MLB: .668 OPS vs .631
AAA: .819 OPS vs .753
AA: .777 OPS vs .693
It isn’t really that close.

Not Q!
Hard core Astros fans will be disappointed about Q being dealt. His hitting prowess isn’t much to get excited about, but it is fun to watch him behind the plate.
Let’s see what Lunhow got!

CBS says Royals.
Bret Wask
I was hoping the Royals would carry Max Ramirez.

Bourgeois huge upgrade over Bernadina, though? Eh, I guess I’m on the outside looking in as a Braves fan…
ImperialStout
Bourgeois is a much better CFer, steals more bases, and has slightly better contact with the bat.
brett m.
and he is more consistent.
craigkimbrelfan
It’s KC…
Bret Wask
You may be right that he is a better CF, but that is probably the only skill that makes him roster-able in real baseball (as opposed to fantasy baseball where the steals count).
Bret Wask
Bourgeois is not “more consistent” or “better contact with the bat”.
Bret Wask
The stats show that clearly.

Bernadina is more of a 4th OF. He has had so many chances I love the Shark but he is better at the corners. Bourgeois is a CF.

Quintero to royals
Bourgeois to nats
2 seperate trades ?
If Quintero to nats than jesus flores is involved.
ImperialStout
“Jesus Flowers” is a good band name.
dbreer23
My bet is Quintero and Bourgeois to the Nats, Flores to the Royals…not sure who goes to HOU, though.
Mike Martin
In this case the mystery team is so mysterious, full details will not be known and until Jason Bourgeois and Humberto Quintero show up on a different team than the Astros at some point during ST.
ImperialStout
Bourgeois has, basically, no power, so the slugging part of that equation knocks him down in comparison. But his avg and OBP are higher. And with superior defense and speed, it’s an upgrade. Not a magnificent one, but I’ll take it.
Bret Wask
Bernadina actually has a higher OBP everywhere except MLB and there he is only behind by .003. I am not sure why Bernadina’s ability to hit for MUCH more power wouldn’t give him a benefit in your equation.
Power counts. Extra base hits are unequivically better than singles and BBs. Neither of them have produced many BBs at the major league level (as their OBP is virtually identical), but at every level Berndina has unequivocally out hit Bourgeois.
ImperialStout
But why get Lannan if you’re going to suck anyway? To flip him later? Trade those two for some 20 year olds.
dbreer23
Welp, guess I was dead-wrong on that one…lol. I’ll stick to my day job…
