On this date in 2005, five Marlins pitchers combined to retire the final 28 Brewers they faced in a 12-inning win over Milwaukee. The combined "hidden" perfect game featured 22 total strikeouts (45 batters faced) by Florida, including a career-high 14 by A.J. Burnett. I wanna see Bogaerts, Barnes, and Bradley wearing a Sox uniform. Crossing my fingers we don’t make a horrible trade for Hamels.

I am with you. No, flat out NO, to send off Barnes, Bradley.. Even Cecchini in any deal. Almost a flat out no on Bogarts. Jacobs and Brentz is about the best of the prospects would want to see them move at the best and even then? Not for another Bedard/rental player, unless they got a window to extend or void the trade.
No to moving Lavarnway also. Boston moved enough top people in the AGone deal, they lost 1 CF of the future in Fuentes and too hard to rebuild with the CBA now.

I love this new crop. Its early on Barnes and Bogaerts but they have shown me enough to have confidence they’ll reach their potential. Bradley is an amazing hitter and since he got to Portland he has kept up the pace so he is also very exciting. I agree about Brentz and Jacobs. I like them both but if we are gonna get a pitcher those two are who I would prefer to see go. I would consider moving Lavarnway though, I am holding out that Papi comes back and that we finally give him a two year deal like he deserves. Plus if all else fails and we send him off, and then Papi leaves we can still fill the DH with a rotation of sorts, maybe try to bring Ross back to OF/DH.

” maybe try to bring Ross back to OF/DH.”
Have been an advocate of Boston getting Ross/Willingham for years. both/either would do exactly as Ross has proven this year at Fenway, Ross just has a better glove than Hammer does and can play all 3 OF positions.
Boston is dearly missing an oppurtunity if they don’t try and lock Ross up on a inexpensive 2/10-14m deal, which as about all that it would take. Look at what they threw away on Vameron for instance? 2/15m and Ross has the bat + of Cameron and his Ross’s power isn’t going to decrease at Fenway for a few more years, he has what I term “Petrocelli power”, as in LF/LCF high flyball and Fenway was kind of “built” for him.
Just hope Ross also thinks like that and both sides will get together on a deal after the season.

Completely agree. Hopefully he respects the Fenway bump and doesn’t try to over sell his talent. I would love to have him back.

Trade Derek Holland??? What? Trade a successful playoff experienced pitcher who can hit 97? No way, Jose!
LazerTown
That would be really selling low at this point. Plus the rangers are short on pitching as it is.

That story on bad contracts is a must read. It breaks down nearly every huge contract and even POTENTIALLY negative contract and puts it into cold, hard facts.
Poor Jason Bay.. The main focus of the article as well. It all points to Bay, not even Citi Field being the absolute worst dollar for Dollar player of the last several years huge $$$ sign. CC still jury out, but the ones listed (didn’t mention werth for some reason) all were well above poor Jason.
Chris
I dont think CC contract is bad at all. he has won atleast 19 games in each year he has been with the yankees and has a WS ring.
pastlives
I think he means carl crawford
User 4245925809
Thanks for clearing it up.. Boston and NYY fans each have a different CC. LOL
Chris
lol oh yeah i forgot about crawford. havent seen him play in awhile lol

I am Sooo proud of the Dodgers… If you don’t want to be here than we don’t want you… Period!! … And also for the Astros.. Carlos if you don’t want… to win?… than we Don’t want you either and for the Stros to just pay all his salarie just to make that statement was worth the cost IMO…. i do think the Marlins got a good guy and he will help them and If i was the Marlins i would make that freebie trade also.
Chris
would love to see holland as a yankee. but i dont know if he can handle pitching in the AL East compared to a weak division in the AL West.

Good to see Dave Hill’s work on here.
