Today's minor moves..
- The Phillies have signed catcher/outfielder Jake Fox to a minor league contract, according to Ryan Dunleavy of NJ Press Media (via Twitter). Fox, 30, will report to the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate after posting strong numbers for the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League.
- The Mets announced that they have signed right-hander Scott Patterson to a Triple-A deal. The 33-year-old was previously with the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate and last appeared in the majors in 2008 with the Padres.
they love the Padres and A’s, expect most of the players they look at and coaches to come from there
The rich just keep on getting richer. 🙂
Jake Fox, Ramon Vazquez… hmm, who else is still kicking around for the first season of Hey, Remember When You Were A Thing? Matt LaPorta when he gets designated for assignment?
It’s a shame that Fox’s .910 OPS at AAA has never translated; he’d be a heck of an offensive catcher if it did.
The problem isn’t his offense. He’s got a .714 OPS with 20 HR in 534 major league PA. That isn’t awesome, but if he could really catch, he’d have a steady major league job. And if he could catch and hit just a tick better than that, he’d have a John Buck like career.
The problem as I understand it is, he doesn’t catch so well.
Except Buck cant catch either.
