Option decisions are due today, but we won’t let that overshadow the latest managerial news from around MLB…
- Tigers hitting coach Lloyd McClendon is a candidate for the Marlins' managerial opening, Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports. McClendon interviewed with Miami yesterday. Larry Bowa and Mike Redmond are also candidates for the position, but Bryan Price has withdrawn his name from consideration.
- The Indians announced their 2013 coaching staff, and it includes Sandy Alomar Jr. as the bench coach, former Astros manager Brad Mills as the third base coach and former MLB catcher Kevin Cash as the bullpen coach.
- Alomar isn't out of the running for the Blue Jays' managerial opening, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca notes (on Twitter).

Think Valentine in Boston was good for press clippings? Guillen last year in Miami?
Bowa in Miami will beat them both. He won’t make any racial insults, but that guy is one loudmouth (worse than Valentine) that has an ego larger than the Goodyear blimp and full of the same amount of hot air as well.
It will be glorious should they hire him and kinda’ funny listening to Tommy Hutton on FoxSports attemtping to figure out what the heck Bowa is doing sometimes…

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let the Feesh hire him. Toby Harrah and Bull Durham are such better options than Lloyd for the Tigers at hitting coach

because coaching a triple crown winner and making austin jackson a better hitter are a bad thing. 😛

If Cleveland has named Alomar as bench coach how does that affect the Jays if they decide they want him as Manager? Do they now have to ask permission or provide compensation to hire him?

Not normally. Teams don’t usually block coaches from promotions.

The Indians coaching staff is stacked, if only the team actually had some talent

Francona is going to have a pretty decent coaching staff. Cash struck me as coaching material when he played. Just not hitting coach.
