If we’re ready to call Quintana awful after 2 bad innings (10 of his 13 earned runs have come from 2 innings), is it time to call Avi Garcia one of the best hitters in baseball? Or should we just stop overreacting about small sample sizes?
Unfortunately, there’s always going to be fans who get freaked out over poor recent trends.
I typically give pitchers 4 starts before making a tentative judgement on their performance. For a pitcher of Quintana’s caliber, more like 5 or 6.
