Cubs Outright Jacob Hannemann

By Jeff Todd | November 20, 2017 at 7:18pm CDT

The Cubs have outrighted outfielder Jacob Hannemann, per a club announcement. Chicago has made three 40-man additions as well, selecting the contracts of righties Adbert Alzolay and Oscar De La Cruz as well as infielder David Bote.

Hannemann, 26, had been claimed recently from the Mariners. He briefly debuted with Seattle — after they claimed him from the Cubs — but spent most of the year in the upper minors, batting .265/.324/.404 over 322 plate appearances at Triple-A.

They only had 108 diamonds on each one and gave out 1908 rings to former players to every single person that works at Wrigley Field. Hell Steve Bartman got a ring. At $150k 250k each ring thats a pretty penny.
Don’t get why outrighting a player is a bad thing. He had zero chance at being on the 25 man roster.

So you’re saying they bought 1908 rings at $150k-$250k each? At $200k that many is $381.6 million.

Oh look. Hannemann cleared waivers and was assigned to Iowa. Evidently, the Cubs can have nice things.

It’ll be another 108 years before they win another one. Theo n company will be gone in 3-5 years once they realize that a black magic voodoo rainstorm is the only reason they snuck past a 1 pitcher/ weeeeaaakk hitting Indians team.

And if that happens. You’ll never see it happen. So saying that is irrelevant. They have the skill and core to win 3 or 4 more. You seem too salty to realize that.

As of now, they don’t have the core pitching to win even the division. Plus all those young guns are going to get really expensive.

So you’re going on the record to say the Cubs won’t win the NL Central this year?

A core of Lester, Quintana, Hendricks is really solid. I’d argue it’s better than the Astros rotation that just won it all. And that’s before we see who they sign this offseason (Arrieta/Darvish/Cobb) all being legitimate options.

So you believe in black magic, voodoo and curses? Good luck with that.

About time they took this guy off the roster. Can’t hit…average OF defense…OK arm, but not spectacular. They have too many OF. Should trade some for pitching. I think their best OF down at AAA is the Rademacher kid. Can hit, play LF and RF and has a + arm. He should get a shot this year at the Big League level.

I agree with you on Bijan. I think his day is coming although I dont think it will be with the Cubs.
Hannemann is just a depth piece. He’s got a decent glove, but its whatever.
