i doubt all 29 other teams woulf consider Clev and Plesac if Cleveland was really trying to dump them. worst case scenario you keep them i the minors until next year. best case you have a stud SP that you got for good value.

Theres no way the Indians who are extremely desperate to win now would hold two good startes down all season.

“Phils would lose their chance at a qualifying offer, so that idea seems out of the question. Besides the QO, Realmuto might not appreciate being dealt, or might really love it on his new team. Not factors the Phillies want to deal with if they want him back in 2021”

You really think that if they trade him then offer him the most money in FA, that he’d sign elsewhere for less??

“I don’t think the Mets are really all that far off, and dealing DeGrom would seem like a really unnecessary move. Plus, you think a new owner wants to walk into the media firestorm of trading the club’s best player?”

As a MLB executive, having to make objective, unsentimental decisions that might not be popular with the casual fan comes with the territory. Derek Jeter traded away Giancarlo Stanton in his first offseason as the Marlins’ owner when he was coming off a NL MVP title. Look how well that trade worked out for Miami.

Whoever the Phils traded JTR to would have exclusive negotiating rights for a while after the WS. He might re-up with that team, and Philly wouldn’t have a chance to negotiate. Presumably that would be a contender, and he might find that prospect more attractive than the Phillies.

They would have exclusive negotiating rights for a week after the WS. But more to the point, I feel like if he was going to sign an extension and forego the open market entirely it would have happened by now. Especially with all the reports of how much he likes it in Philly.

He’ll go to the Yankees. They haven’t had a good catcher since Jorge Posada.

Yankee fans seem to smoke a lot of crack. They have 2 top 100 prospects. Their better one is #57 overall. Yet they suggest their #7 prospect, a guy with a 40 hit tool who likely isn’t top 200 overall, and Andujar for one of the better pitchers in the game?

Florial shouldn’t even be in the top 20 at this point.

@94yankees- why not? Gardy’s club option isn’t going to be picked up next season giving a guy like Florial a shot at playing leftfield full-time. You really don’t know what your talking about. Florial is a top 10 Yankee prospect easily. So do your homework.

@yank4life in 2019 Florial between injuries managed a whopping 74 games and 301 PA per baseball reference. In that time he hit an astounding 237/297/680 with 9 SB and 5 CS. So even if the Yankees decline Gardner’s team option you feel the Yankees will get rid of two of stanton, judge, frazier, andjular, hicks and tautbaum in order to carry 5 outfielders with Florial being 1 of them. Surprised they keep Cashman around with your valuable insights so readily available.

@Javia- Florial is not being traded this season. He might be the Yankees center or leftfielder next season. He is coming off an injury but the talent is definitely there. He can definitely be a 20/20 guy in 2021 if he is given the playing time.

Frazier/Hicks/Judge, if healthy, with potentially Wade, Tauchman and maybe Andujar. Florial’s going to AAA next year unless numerous injuries arise.

And he did this at the advanced level of A+. So the question is: How many times a day do you ask; would you like fries with that?
