Dodgers Add 4 To 40-Man Roster

By Connor Byrne | November 20, 2020 at 5:41pm CDT

The Dodgers have added three right-handers – Gerardo Carrillo, Andre Jackson and Edwin Uceta – as well as outfielder Zach Reks to their 40-man roster J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group tweets.

Going by MLB.com’s rankings of the Dodgers’ farm system, Jackson is the lone prospect here who sits in the franchise’s top 30. The former 12th-round pick (2017) comes in at No. 27, though he did thrive between Single-A and High-A ball in his most recent minor league action in 2019. Jackson ended the year with a 3.06 ERA and 11.1 K/9 against 4.5 BB/9 in 114 2/3 innings.

Zach Reks would be another great name to add to the MLB weird name collection.

Wow, I’m surprised Omar Estevez didn’t get protected! He’s not far away…

Not much pop there to fear him getting claimed.

That was my immediate thought, that Uceta had to be ranked in the Top 30. That was the only name I immediately recognized, and I’m fairly well versed on their top prospects.

Yes pretty bad when you are only talking about 4 players and 3 of them are in fact in our top 30 and you use the word lone in your article when referencing one of them, One? An oversight. Missing two?……eesh

If there’s one thing I’m extremely confident in, it’s LAD knowing their own prospects

They know their own system better than most other teams, if not every franchise

They have known their own prospects for years now.

It’s a Friedman thing. And imo took a few years of building the system for it to matter.

Still, few teams seem to scout themselves as well as LAD does. Just because they’ve done it for a few years doesn’t make it less valuable
