Minor MLB Transactions: 3/3/21

By Connor Byrne | March 3, 2021 at 9:01pm CDT

Today’s minor transactions:

  • The Cubs outrighted hurler Robert Stock to Triple-A after he cleared waivers, Bruce Levine of 670 The Score tweets. The team previously designated the right-handed Stock for assignment on Feb. 28, which came two-plus months after it claimed him from the Red Sox via waivers at the beginning of December. The hard-throwing 31-year-old has been part of seven major league organizations, and he appeared in the bigs in each of the previous three seasons. Stock owns a 4.24 ERA/4.07 SIERA and a 50.8 percent grounder rate in 63 2/3 innings, though he has registered unspectacular strikeout and walk percentages of 23.6 and 10.9, respectively.

The Cubs wouldn’t even consider trading Robert Stock. Why? Because he’s an UNTOUCHABLE!!!

This time other way around, bonds over stocks!
Side note, anyone else think Lester might be getting thyroid gland removed due to PED use over years? Theo did have like a dozen players listed in Mitchell report so I for one would not put it past either of those guys.

How long will Tim Locastros (Diamondbacks OF) successful stolen base streak last? Over/Under?

This is the winner of most random comment of the day. But since you asked, I’d say he gets to about 35-40 before he misses.

He seems like a guy that some pitching coach guru type out there should be able to make some tweaks to and really get him to be effective. His raw stuff is pretty solid and his control isn’t his biggest issue… really he’s just not getting the kinds of strikeouts you’d expect for the velocity he has. So idk if it’s spin rate, or release angle or the stuffs just to straight or what… but the raw power in his fastball seems like something some organization out there ought to be able to work with to get more out of him. But I guess he’s been in so many organizations already that if it were going to happen it probably would have by now. Just seems weird with his power fastball he’s never really been able to rack up the Ks even in the minors.

Are there any “pitching coach guru type(s)” left? Thanks to front office interference, innings limits, and pitch counts the days of the Leo Mazzone’s and Dave Duncan’s are long gone

Teams will start out on opening day with 13 pitchers. Will probably use double that or more. Why not have someone that has big league experience to be ready for a call up? Why shoot arrows at a filler player?
