Minor MLB Transactions: 4/26/21

By Mark Polishuk | April 26, 2021 at 12:28pm CDT

The latest minor moves from around baseball…

  • The Tigers have outrighted Renato Nunez to their alternate training site, the team announced.  Nunez cleared waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week.  Nunez inked a minor league deal with the Tigers after being released by the Orioles prior to December’s non-tender deadline, and Nunez has hit .148/.207/.444 with two home runs over his first 29 plate appearances for Detroit.  As noted by Evan Woodbery of MLive.com, Nunez had the right to reject the outright assignment, but he decided to stick with the Tigers rather than return to the free agent market.

Phillies could have used some RH power off the bench.

Have you not heard of a guy named Torkelson?

I dont expect to see Torkelson in the majors this season. He certainly didnt look ready in spring training.

Torkelson will likely start in High A West Michigan. They don’t start until May. No way Tork climbs 3 levels in less than 2 months.

The YANKEES could have used him. That way they could have 3 first basemen, 3 second basemen, 2 third basemen and NO shortstops.

Yankees love loading up on the right side of the infield.

Sounds better than the Reds’ situation. Most of the time they have a third baseman starting at 2B, 3B, SS, CF, and RF.

He’s way better than what the Indians roll out at 1B on a daily basis. I can’t figure out why Jake Bauers warranted another extended look but he’s got to go.

Glad Nunez decided to stay with the Tigers. It is likely his clearest path back to the majors. He reported late to camp and had to clear COVID protocols, He just needs to play regularly to get his groove back. I could easily see him back in a Tiger uniform by June.

With Tigers potent offense, I can understand how he doesn’t fit…lol…Tigers have the worst offence in the MLB…it’s embarrassing

Al Avila has made it so I had to kind laugh the other day when one of the regulars used the term, “self-respecting Tiger fan”.
    True story.
