AUGUST 3: The Marlins announced they’ve placed middle infielder Jazz Chisholm on the COVID-19 injured list. Infielder Deven Marrero has been selected to the roster to replace him.
Chisholm has been experiencing virus-like symptoms, reports Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald (Twitter link). There’s no indication that he’s actually tested positive for the virus at this point. The 23-year-old is hitting .254/.317/.430 with eleven home runs across 307 plate appearances so far this season.
Marrero has been on and off the roster a few times, picking up seven plate appearances. He has spent most of the season with Triple-A Jacksonville, hitting .252/.327/.397 with the Jumbo Shrimp.

Exactly. I don’t even know why they buy him a plane ticket. They’d save more money by just keeping him in town. But if MLB and MLBPA require the Marlins buying him a plane ticket to be “sent back down”, they can just get the ticket at Spirit Airlines and that will cover his up and down and up0 again.

It’s a nice life. He makes MLBTR news every other day so he has some mega algorithms on Google, Yahoo and Bing. He gets free trips to Miami and other parts of Florida. He gets paid a bunch of money for doing this.
Chisholm has had all sorts of unfortunate luck this season. Hopefully that straightens out with maturity and working cautiously on and off the field to play full seasons for the rest of his career.
Not that Covid is his fault, but the injuries prior to this have, at times, come from overly aggressive risks in play that he’s gotten hurt doing.
Save him the misery and claim him please!
