The Gardner to the Phillies talk still baffles me as their in-house options aren’t terrible. Let the kids play. Gardner is toast.

Had a good chuckle over the question, “Montas for Dom Smith… who says no?”

I don’t know how the writers can deal with those crazy trade proposals…

NY media hypes up their prospects and players so much. That’s where we get these ridiculous proposals. You’d think Dom Smith is Babe Ruth.

        1. Dom Smith is not a prospect.

        2. Every team “hypes up” their prospects. Every team has prospects fail. It’s just that NY is the largest media market, with the most coverage, so you happen to hear more about it. It’s pretty simple really. But your snarky narrative is more likely driven by seeing your #1 overall bust of a pick go down to injury this week.

          1. True, and he also is not a sufficient return for Montas.

          2. Von is snarky more often than just this week.

          1. No question. I never said Dom was enough. He just isn’t a prospect.

          1. Understood. The person in the chat seemed to think he was.

I didn’t call him a prospect. Please re-read what I wrote. I live in NY. I listen to their media constantly. I worked in their media. They hype up players more than most. Dom Smith is a fine player, and at one point underrated, but over the last year and a half he’s been propped up to something he is not.

And if you want to compare Philly media, it’s actually the other end of the spectrum. Philly media is far too harsh and critical of their talentto the point where Hall of Fame players like Mike Schmidt were criticized their entire career. It’s ridiculous, and the term Negadelphia is well earned. Pick your poison really. Media that hypes up Ike Davis like the second coming or media that never lets Jimmy Rollins forget that he didn’t run out a grounder once, instead of praising his other unique accomplishments.
