White Sox – Guardians Postponed Due To COVID Concerns Within Cleveland Organization

By Anthony Franco | May 11, 2022 at 12:43pm CDT

12:43pm: Hale also winded up testing positive, reports Mandy Bell of MLB.com (Twitter link).

12:38pm: This afternoon’s game between the White Sox and Guardians has been postponed, Major League Baseball announced. Cleveland is dealing with multiple COVID-19 positives, and the teams won’t play today “to allow for continued testing and contact tracing.”

This marks the first game of the 2022 season postponed because of virus concerns. Under the MLB – MLBPA health and safety protocols for this season, the commissioner’s office has final authority on whether to postpone a game. Protocols state that “MLB intends to postpone games only if necessary to protect the health and safety of Club personnel, players and umpires. Games will not be postponed for competitive reasons provided the Club has a sufficient number of players available to substitute those players on the Active Roster who are unavailable to play as a result of COVID-19.”

The league has not yet announced rescheduling plans. Today would’ve marked the rubber match of a three-game set between the teams. The White Sox host the Yankees for four games starting tomorrow; the Guardians have a scheduled off day Thursday before heading to Minnesota for a weekend series. The division rivals have four more series on the schedule, so it seems likely today’s game will be made up as part of a doubleheader down the line.

The identity of any players affected by Cleveland’s outbreak is unclear. Jesse Rogers of ESPN reports (on Twitter) that the positive tests “mostly” involve coaches and other staff members. The team had announced this morning that manager Terry Francona tested positive for the virus, with bench coach DeMarlo Hale set to serve as acting manager. There’ll surely be forthcoming updates about other individuals who have tested positive. At present, Cleveland has one player — infielder Yu Chang — on the COVID injured list; Chang went on the IL in mid-April and has been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus for the past week and a half.

Francona has serious health issues, I can understand why they’d be careful with a spate of positives among the team.

USA?? Or one state? So your goal is to prevent all deaths? There are 3700 traffic deaths every day yet you still drive, right? The covid phobia has run it’s course.

It’s not a phobia if you’re taking precautions. If the weather sucks, you don’t drive if you can avoid it. That’s not a phobia.

People wear seatbelts when they drive. Won’t necessarily prevent them from dying but it drastically reduces the chances. Same reason the large majority of Americans got the vaccine.

@always: Yes, ONLY 350 deaths from COVID daily in the US. Your car accident statistic is for global. In the US, more than 38,000 Americans die in automobile crashes per year. So each day is about 105. (per http://www.nhtsa.gov).

No proof he died because he was vaccinated, but proof doesn’t matter to you.

Vaccines kill a minuscule percent of people who take them but that makes you scared? I guess you can’t complain about people who are scared of COVID then.

There have been 14,596 preliminary reports to VAERS about deaths from COVID vaccines (0.0025%) and 3 confirmed cases that were not related to the J&J vaccine. 4 deaths were attributable to the J&J vaccine. The mRNA vaccines have proven to be the safest vaccines in history.

Only 665 confirmed cases of myocarditis or pericarditis as a result of a COVID vaccine among those under 25.

580 million doses given and 220 million people vaccinated under the most intense safety monitoring in US history. 4500 confirmed deaths after receiving the vaccine (0.00000775862) and 7 confirmed deaths that were attributable to the vaccines.

I answered your question MR tinfoil hat. But the facts won’t matter to you.

The CDC keeps official stats on people who have “adverse reactions” to vaccines. They have done this for many years. The adverse reactions to covid vaccines are in the tens of thousands. So are the deaths. Make of it what you will, but those who are anti-vax don’t need to make up stuff to be wary. Facts are out there if you’re looking for them.

Its called the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System or VAERS. Anyone can report to it. There is one that said their adverse reaction to the Pfizer vaccine was that their skin turned green and they burst out of their clothes. You know, like the incredible hulk. None are filtered from the raw data regardless of how ridiculous they are.

          cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/vaer…

There have been approximately 580 million doses of COVID vaccines given to 220 million people in the US so far and the reported adverse reactions numbered in the hundreds of thousands, 368,986 to be exact, not tens of thousands. 1.67% (that is one point six seven percent) of people that have received at least one COVID vaccination have reported of some type of adverse reaction that ranged from a sore arm to being more tired than usual to anaphylaxis.

          wonder.cdc.gov/controller/datarequest/D8;jsessioni…

14k deaths were reported to VAERS after receiving a COVID vaccine with 4.5k verified that the people actually died and 7 deaths attributable to effects of the vaccine.

ALL of the data is available to the public. Go to the CDC and download it

COVID vaccines have been had the highest level of tracking and scrutiny in history and they have had the lowest incident of adverse reactions and deaths of any vaccine ever.

It is a lower percentage than that of any vaccine children receive each and every year.

Those are the facts. If you are still wary now, you are not paying attention to those facts or you are listening to the wrong people. The COVID vaccines in the US are both the most highly tracked and have proven to be the safest in history.

Fact is, there was no excess mortality in 2020, and the average age of “Covid” death was the same as average life expectancy.

In 2021 the death rate increased, after the magic serums were introduced.

False, the rate decreased by 103 people per day. Plus of the people who died, the vast majority weren’t vaccinated. Look at the facts. Here are the numbers: worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

Never said that. My point is the vaccine is supposed to keep one safe, limit symptoms, ect. It’s 2022. Everyone old enough at the ballpark has had the ability to get vaccinated. So why are we telling someone who has no symptoms or minimal symptoms that they can’t play? Owen Miller couldn’t play earlier in the year even though he had zero symptoms. And please don’t say to limit the spread. Once someone tests positive, it’s already spread to multiple sources.

Are we canceling games for influenza as well? You’re missing my point. Stop testing. It would solve the majority of this. Experts are all saying that we probably won’t be able to eradicate this. So in 2028, are we still going to have individuals not playing because they have some sniffles and test positive for COVID?

The fully vaccinated comprise 40% of all Covid deaths during Omicron.

          jsonline.com/story/news/2022/05/06/covid-19-deaths…

So you’re saying to let the infected walk around untested, spreading a virus that could lead to several deaths and countless new cases?

It likely has already spread to multiple sources but that’s no reason to let it spread to even more.

In a vacuum, a bunch of healthy 20 and 30 year olds have almost no risk factors. In reality these guys live with wives, kids, and parents and interact with a lot of people.

So if we can limit some spread, that’s a good thing.

Considering we went a full year of covid, December 2019 to December 2020, before a shot was available to the public 40% of deaths being vaccinated is quite a lot considering unvaccinated had a full 12 month head start before we even counted deaths among vaccinated.

Lockdowns prevented less than 1% of deaths according to a John Hopkins study.
          abcactionnews.com/news/national/coronavirus/johns-…

In fact, shutting down businesses was actually the worse thing to do since it just funneled everyone into a central location, Target Walmart, where they were exposed to the virus.

Vaccines work. Covid shot isnt a vaccine though.

Its at best a therapeutic to reduce chances you develop serious illness just like a flu or cold shot. Doesnt provide immunity or anything. You can still get covid and infect other people, and also develop serious illness and die still.

If you want the shot get the shot. But your shot doesnt make my shot work better or worse and someone with no shot doesnt make your or my shot work better or worse.

His point is people waited 30 minutes in line surrounded by people possibly infected with covid increasing their chances of exposure and infection BECAUSE only certain stores were open.

His point is also if it was really about saving people’s lives, non essential stores, big or small, would have been forced closed. Lowes Home Depot Walmart Target in many instances didnt need to be open. You need food. You need water. You don’t need gardening supplies.

What you were going to redo the pipes yourself?

Point is claiming it was to save lives was hog wash. It didn’t have much of an impact other than destroying businesses and peoples lives.

Will everyone be okay with this 10 years from now, but I’d guess there is a good chance that people will be testing positive in 10 years.

Then you went to say they don’t provide immunity. Vaccines stimulate immunity and always have.

          It doesn’t stimulate immunity though,

Youre not immune. You can still catch and spread the virus. Even 4 shots deep you still can spread and catch it.

That isn’t saying they don’t work. Thats saying they don’t prevent infection or spreading. They reduce chance of serious illness. Which is the 3rd time I told you this.

What does the shot do: reduce chance of serious illness and death. You can still get seriously ill and die though.

What doesnt the shot do: prevent infection or spreading

Thats false. Polio vaccine eliminated polio enough that USA has been considered polio free since 1979.

Point of a vaccine is to stimulate immunity to the point that a virus cant spread as easily. You don’t need 100%. But you do need a high percentage to say a population is “immune”.

Point of a vaccine isn’t let people still get sick, infected, and spread the virus especially from those considered “protected”.. You can experience mild symptoms and still pass the virus to “protected” and unprotected people alike.

That’s because EVERYONE got vaccinated for polio! This is why everyone who can be vaccinated should! You used one of my favorite arguments for how vaccines work, thanks for doing the work for me.

If 25% of the population refused to be vaccinated for polio in the mid-20th century, do you think it would have been eliminated enough?

Not everyone has the polio vaccine though. Before covid polio vaccine rate was between 90%-95%.

And even at 50%-60% vaccination rate when they first began giving people polio vaccines cases dramatically plummeted and never recovered.

Same cant be said about covid where over 60% of the population was “protected” and omicron tore through the country like a hot knife through butter.

          It’s still a vaccine. M-W:

          Definition of vaccine
1: a preparation that is administered (as by injection) to stimulate the body’s immune response against a specific infectious agent or disease: such as b: a preparation of genetic material (such as a strand of synthesized messenger RNA) that is used by the cells of the body to produce an antigenic substance (such as a fragment of virus spike protein)

To piggyback on this, I couldn’t believe that public businesses such as gyms and stores were forced to reduce their hours. So instead of X number of people working out between 5AM-10PM, they had to do so between 8AM-6PM. Tell me again how forcing a smaller window for people to enter a public place actually helps prevent transmission?

Just goes to show, many of the decisions being made were asinine.

Yes, the CDC changed its definition of vaccine to be ‘more transparent’

The latest CDC definition is absent the word “immunity” and just focuses on the stimulation of the body’s immune response.

The CDC also changed its wording for the definition of “vaccination” from “the act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity to a specific disease” in 2018 to “the act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce protection from a specific disease.” The key differences here are, again, the absence of the word “immunity” in the latest definition and the change to “protection” instead.

It works so well we need to change definitions.

Ok then use the “standard” one from that article: 1. any preparation of weakened or killed bacteria or viruses introduced into the body to prevent a disease by stimulating antibodies against it.

You introduce something into a body to stimulate an immune response. Like mRNA. They used an mRNA vaccine to treat zika. Is that not a vaccine either?

Hey richt you missed – “prevent a disease by stimulating antibodies against it”

If you catch covid after taking a shot it didn’t prevent the disease.

If you catch covid after taking a shot and experience symptoms it didn’t prevent the disease.

If you catch covid after taking a shot and experience severe symptoms it didnt prevent the disease.

Maybe you and I have different definitions for the word prevent.

          Prevent

richt – I would have at the very least kept hours the way they were, if not expanded them.

I just don’t see the purpose of shrinking hours during a pandemic, which caused everyone packing into stores and gyms during a smaller period of time each day.

And I also noticed two-entrance/exit stores closing one of them during the pandemic, why? Makes no sense, funneling everyone into one entrance/exit instead of two.

The easiest and most effective method of preventing transmission is distancing.

My friends drove Daley’s kids to St. Ignatius back in the day. I dated the grandniece of the former state senator. I am intimately familiar with how awful Democrats are.

The topic on hand is how absurd it is that we are cancelling games because of positive tests and not symptoms or severity of symptoms. We are beyond the pandemic now. Covid is not going anywhere. Everyone will get it or be exposed at the very least. People under 50 and relatively healthy have almost nothing to fear. Those over 50 with multiple comorbidities should take appropriate precautions. However at some point we have to get past this nonsense.

And he oversaw the development of vaccines under Operation Warp Speed. I wish we could have done better than Trump, but we actually have a worse president now!

Presidents don’t send out stimulus checks.

Congress does. Financial decisions about spending originate in house of reps man.

Which is why Biden can’t forgive student loan and why Biden wasn’t able to deliver on his promise of $2000 stimulus checks. Congress only approved $1400

You would know this by who speaker of the house is. Controlling party gets Speaker of the House. Which is Pelosi. Who is a democrat.

@polishsausage If everyone got vaccinated it likely would have prevented spread. Unfortunately 33.2% of the people in the US are not smart enough or have enough morals to want to protect their family and friends from the disease and refused to get vaccinated. Those that represent them in Congress, think RED, blocked giving more vaccine to underdeveloped countries. So we had 93% of the deaths in the US from January 2021 to March 2022 come from that unvaccinated group and many variants come from that same group around the world. Those unvaccinated people filled up hospital beds and for every one of them that died, they killed 2 more that couldn’t get an acute care bed for other health problems. The cluster #$^$^ is YOU.

An average of 1341 Americans died per day because of COVID from the first reported death on 2/29/20 until crybaby snowflake Trump got booted out on Inauguration day. Since then that number is 1237 and the curves are far flatter. Want me to tell you how many of those deaths since 1/20/21 were unvaxxed nutjobs?

The current dominant strains in the US have 23 and 27 different proteins respectively than the strain we were being infected with last summer and other than a small number of proteins is an entirely different disease than Alpha, the original SARS-COV2.

Having COVID before gives you ZERO immunity against the two dominant strains in the US today and only a 65-70% protection if you are fully boosted. What being vaccinated does is keep you from dying and from filling up beds that should go to people smart enough to be vaccinated that have other health issues not related to COVID. From July 2021 to March 2022, 93% of deaths in the US were among the unvaccinated.

That you are not informed enough to realize those facts but still feel like you should make a comment on the subject says volumes.

Variants dont change size of particles.. Changes genetic make up. Delta particples arent bigger or smaller than Omicron particles.

If masks didnt stop omicron they didnt stop delta or alpha or any variant. Cause theyre the same structure but different genetic coding.

Many places dropped mandates prior to the delta wave. Your point? Omicron was much more contagious and spreadable than delta. Places that kept mask mandates didn’t do better either, in fact many states that had mask mandates in place such as New York and California did worse in many instances despite mask mandates still in effect for both waves.

          When? 2020

CNN’s medical analyst Dr Leana Wen has said that cloth masks are useless in the fight against the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, instead encouraging viewers to wear three-layer medical masks.

“Cloth masks are little more than facial decorations. There’s no place for them in light of omicron,” CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Leana Wen, an emergency physician and visiting professor of health policy and management at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health, said last week.

Remember. If a certain type of mask doesn’t work for 1 variant it doesnt work for all variants.

Dude are you literally still arguing that “masks don’t work” when continuing to cite articles that say you should wear something better than a cloth mask? Then saying I’m wrong? Read over what you’re writing, it makes no sense. You look like fool.

The science never changed, idiot. The earth always revolved around the sun. The experts figured out what was correct/worked better.

And they NEVER said ALL masks don’t work. All of the links you’ve posted here keep saying that masks work, just that some work better than others. You said it yourself: N95s and medical masks work.

You’ve lost ALL trust in a group of experts who objectively know more than you about all this because they thought something was effective and it actually ended up being less effective? Again: dense.

Science never changed. It just hadn’t been discovered yet. Did the science change when Copernicus proved the earth revolved around the sun? Was it the other way around before it was discovered?

Again, you are so unbelievably dense that you continue to say that because the cloth masks were shown to not work AS well and these people you’re citing are LITERALLY SAYING TO WEAR BETTER MASKS that they shouldn’t be trusted. Think about that one. If you can.

Science doesn’t change. Do you see my point yet? Science is fact. It always existed even before we were aware of it.

Cloth masks don’t work as well, yes. We knew this in 2020. At least I did. So I found a better one. Cloth masks not working as well doesn’t mean that given the choice between a cloth mask and no mask that you shouldn’t wear the cloth mask.

Keep repeating yourself and ignoring logic/my actually thought-out/non-bird-brained point.

You havent really proven anything other than you’re incapable of providing stuff to back up your points and refuse to acknowledge sources contradicting the world view you hold on to so dearly for some reason, however wrong it is.

Cloth masks never worked as well. Some people knew it. Maybe others didn’t. However, NO ONE was saying you should go maskless vs. wearing a cloth mask. You still won’t acknowledge that.

You also still won’t answer the question why these experts making a new discovery about cloth masks totally discredits them and prevents you from trusting them at all.

Tell me more about how this worldview is wrong.

“Are those the same masks people were told worked only to be told 2+ years later that they in fact didn’t work unless you were wearing an N95 or equivalent cause everyone was getting omicron despite wearing masks?”

Except that never happened. Where does all this disinformation come from? Seriously, man — who told you that?

We were told from the start that N95 masks and masks of equivalent quality were best, but they didn’t want us using them because there was a shortage of them for first responders, doctors and nurses. We were told that therefore we should use available surgical masks if we could find them, and at least a cloth face covering if nothing better was available.

It wasn’t until the professionals were supplied with N95s that it was suggested that the rest of us could use them; but even then, surgical masks would help prevent the spread of the virus, and a cloth mask was better than nothing.

I live in New York. We had over 1,000 deaths in a single day in mid-April 2020. The City enforced masks in public, social distancing, and lockdowns. By August we were suffering less than 10 deaths a day; the curve was flattened without any vaccine. Don’t tell me masks don’t work. The Pfizer vaccine didn’t receive emergency use approval until the following December. All we had was masks, social distancing, and targeted lockdowns.

This is the CDC mask guidance now:

‘Wear a Mask When There is A Lot of COVID in Your Community

‘Wear a mask in public places where there are a lot of people around.

‘The mask must cover your nose.

‘The mask must cover your mouth.

‘The mask must fit under your chin.

‘The mask must be snug on your face.

‘Make sure it is easy to breathe.

‘If you visit someone who might get very sick from COVID-19, wear a mask when you are with them.

‘If you might get sick from COVID-19, talk to your doctor about when you should wear a mask.

‘You can wear a mask inside public places like grocery stores and movie theaters at any time.

‘You can wear a mask in outdoor public places like parks at any time.

‘If you have been with someone who is sick with COVID-19, take a self-test or go to a doctor to get tested for COVID-19.’

This was the CDC guidance last August:

‘Wear a Mask to Protect Yourself and Others

‘Masking is a critical public health tool and it is important to remember that any mask is better than no mask.

‘Wear the most protective mask you can that fits well and that you will wear consistently.

‘Wearing a well-fitted mask along with vaccination, self-testing, and physical distancing, helps protect you and others by reducing the chance of spreading COVID-19.’

Cloth masks not only effectively block most large droplets (i.e., 20-30 microns and larger),9 but they can also block the exhalation of fine droplets and particles (also often referred to as aerosols) smaller than 10 microns3, 5 which increase in number with the volume of speech10-12 and specific types of phonation – CDC

In community settings, however, cloth masks may be used to prevent community spread of infections by sick or asymptomatically infected persons, and the public should be educated about their correct use. – Abrar A. Chughtai, corresponding author Holly Seale, and C. Raina Macintyre October 2020

The CDC now recommends everyone use cloth masks in public – April 2020
At one point the CDC even recommended making your own masks LMAO

All the data you cite wasn’t compiled in 2020. There weren’t giant mask studies prior to the onset of COVID in spring 2020 for them to rely on for advice.

Again, wearing a cloth mask > no mask at all. That’s the main reason they said what they said.

          P.S.

It shouldn’t surprise or scandalize you that the mask guidance changed over time. They called it a “novel” coronavirus for a reason. It was new. They were fighting a fast-spreading, mutating virus they knew little about, but they knew it was killing people in the thousands at an alarming rate. It took time and experimentation to fine-tune the recommendations.

Instead of playing “gotcha” with the “inconsistency” of the guidance, you ought to be praising the scientists for the dedicated work they did to keep as many people safe as possible, even though morally bankrupt political demagogues and ill-informed quacks did their best to undermine their work.

Here’s some more, from CBS News, Jan. 14, 2022:

‘The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated its mask guidance to note that N95 and KN95 masks offer higher levels of protection against COVID-19 than cloth masks, although it stopped short of recommending that everyone wear them. The change comes as the rapidly-spreading Omicron variant continues to cause record-breaking numbers of infections, straining the ability of hospitals to treat the influx of patients.

‘”Well-fitting NIOSH-approved respirators (including N95s) offer the highest level of protection,” the CDC’s website now says, referring to products evaluated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

‘The CDC says loosely woven cloth masks provide the least protection, while those with layers, well-fitting disposable surgical masks or KN95 masks offer progressively more.’

” Already had it, I’ve had colds that were far worse and didn’t require shutting down everything.”

Then you had a mild case, which probably resulted from exposure to a lower viral load. Additionally, the virus doesn’t attack everyone in the same way, and the scientists are still trying to figure out why. Some people are hit primarily with respiratory problems; others have problems with other organs, because it can attack them all, including the brain.

Fauci didn’t contradict himself. You seem not to understand how science works. When you’re trying to analyze a replicating, mutating virus that’s infected humans for the first time, it takes time to figure out what you’re dealing with — how it attaches itself, how it attacks, how quickly it mutates, how destructive it is, how contagious it is, how resistant to our natural defenses it is, which drugs might be useful against it, etc.

Fauci and his colleagues didn’t have a book they could read to get all that information. They had to arrive at answers through observation and experimentation. That’s how science works. Their guidance changed appropriately as their knowledge of the virus evolved.

There was nothing cagey or nefarious about Fauci’s advice. You should be grateful to the man for all the lives he’s saved. There’s nothing noble about being an ingrate. I can assure you, with no fear of exaggeration, that Dr. Fauci has saved a lot more human lives in his long career than Tucker Carlson or Alex Jones has.

What quote you posted rebuts what I said? None of them. This is what I said:

“We were told from the start that N95 masks and masks of equivalent quality were best, but they didn’t want us using them because there was a shortage of them for first responders, doctors and nurses. We were told that therefore we should use available surgical masks if we could find them, and at least a cloth face covering if nothing better was available.”

          This is a rebuttal?

“The CDC now recommends everyone use cloth masks in public – April 2020”

Look at the date, sir. April 2020. In April 2020 there was a critical shortage of masks and ventilators. Like I said, the authorities didn’t want the public to buy up the limited supply of masks when the professionals desperately needed them. I don’t know where you live, but in New York City you couldn’t find masks in any of the drug stores. You couldn’t even find rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer with 10 million people scouring the stores for whatever they could get their hands on. It took months for the drug chains to start stocking those things. Of course the CDC was telling people to use cloth masks if they could get them or make them. In mid-April in New York, a 1,000 people a day were dying. The doctors and nurses were on TV pleading with people to give them any extra masks they could supply. They were reusing disposable surgical masks in the hospitals out of necessity.

Cloth masks did work, and they still do:

“The CDC says loosely woven cloth masks provide the least protection, while those with layers, well-fitting disposable surgical masks or KN95 masks offer progressively more.” – CBS News, Jan. 14, 2022

“Loosely woven cloth masks provide the least protection” — exactly as I said. There’s a big difference between “least protection” and “no protection.” Your interpretation of the guidance is inaccurate.

It’s amazing that these players get paid millions but somehow are so incredibly brittle that they can’t go outside and work. Overpaid adult children. I get if you have a major medical condition and you shouldn’t be out at all. But it’s less deadly than the flu. Put on your big boy pants and go act like an actual adult and not some broken piece of plastic. Sad how much people don’t want to work but need everyone to supply them with their daily needs. Sad. @richt Do you realize that about 7500 people died yesterday (and every day) of other causes? Close to 3 million people die every year in the US. The people dying from Covid are an average age of 80 and many are unhealthy, and could have died soon for any number of reasons. I mean give me a break with crying over every person who dies, as if any of us are going to live forever. We have 330 million people in this country, a little less than 1 percent die each year which is a lot of people. Death is a part of life, so is getting sick once in a while.

I’ve talked to seniors who didn’t want any of this control freak nonsense imposed on the younger members of family when Covid was way more dangerous to people than now, because locking up the world was an incredibly destructive and life robbing plan, and did little to stop the spread anyway. Probably 2/3 of the population has gotten it by now, maybe more. The overall survival rate is like 99.5 percent, even higher with Omicron. If you exclude the sick and elderly, the survival rate is close to 99.99 percent. Nothing needs to be cancelled, other than the fear and allegiance to this control freak ideology that isn’t based on science, but those that have the desire to control and have power over people. The most intelligent comment on here was the one who said we should stop testing and get on with our lives.

Funny you didn’t care this much every single flu season before 2020 but yet your trying to force others to protect you from them. That sounds weird even to type yet here we are. It’s a flu variant but everyone is running around acting like it’s the black plague or the potato famine or botulism. 98% chance to survive this but botulism is almost 100% death rate. Why are you not screaming for research in that? I see your good at gaslighting but not so great when pressed with particular facts.

Not really worse. They are about the same but again, if you bothered to educate yourself you would do better but again, your aren’t capable of learning something new that isn’t supplied to you by buzzfeed or reddit but I get it. No I don’t. You ignore everything and everyone around you because your a simpleton. You can’t think for yourself so you rely on group thinking. Whatever your wife’s boyfriend tells you is acceptable, that’s what you preach. Funny your trying to correct my speech while your wife is getting corrected. Like cows, you stand in a field and moo hoping someone will listen.

Again, ask your doctor if it’s worse than the flu. Are you capable of asking your doctor a question and then listening to them?

She’s upgrading, or getting upgraded but don’t worry you won’t have anything to do with it. I can argue points but you won’t learn from any of it. If I felt you might get some value from them or have atleast a decent or somewhat accurate rebuttal. But I know for a fact you aren’t capable of that.

I’m fine here thanks. You should move there since you love Ukraine now so much. Weird, 1 year ago you couldn’t tell me where they are on a map now you expect to give them 40 billion?
There should be a better immigration system, but this isn’t an immigration. It’s an invasion. What was it the other month they caught 43 or so, can’t remember the exact number of people, on terrorist watch lists. What do you have to say about that? That’s the number they caught. Not how many got across. Seriously what do you have to say about that? Just because I’m white doesn’t mean most of my family didnt immigrate here until after 1730. Except for the Cherokee in my family. Been here a little longer.
You really haven’t a clue on what your talking about or who your talking about it to. All you can do is harp on spelling and punctuation errors. You assume so much but are off so far. It’s really astounding your ability.
Taxing the rich would be fine but it’s amazing so how the lower class keeps getting consistently screwed.
So why are we giving $40 billion to Ukraine but yet moms here can’t find milk, anywhere. America has enough problems to fix on its own before it trys helping out the world.

Unborn babies are dependent on their mothers for literally every bodily function because they are inside her body. Little leaguers aren’t. But nice try. Only religious people believe that they’re people. Last I checked, there is separation of church and state in this country.

          3. Yes, religious people DO in fact believe the unborn baby is a living soul, because it is. You’re right again!

          4. There actually IS a separation of church and state in our government, which is ALSO true. Guess what? There is also I think called freedom of religion, which means you can CHOOSE what religion you have! Isn’t that MIND BLOWING!

You can absolutely choose these things. You can also choose not to have a religion. And the government should not impose the beliefs of one religion on ALL its citizens, many of whom do not believe in those teachings.

Who ever said the government was imposing political opinions? I don’t know where you live, but I live in a place called the “United States of America” where religion is an option and a freedom. From the moment of conception, the baby has a soul. It may not yet be BORN, but it is a living thing.

“It is impossible to win an argument against a dumb person” this quote makes a lot of sense right now. You should keep trying, maybe one day you will convince yourself that you are a man.

That’s literally what the government does by saying that women don’t have the choice of what happens with their bodies.

Prove to me with science that a baby has a “soul” when it’s conceived. Prove to me that a “soul” makes something living. You’re using abstract terms. These are just your opinions. They are not grounded in fact or science.

A soul does not make something living. Only humans have souls, and humans are not the only living things. Also guess what, women DO have a choice what to do with their bodies and it’s called using their brains. Also, this is not their bodies we are talking about, this is another innocent persons life that is taken away by bad decision making.

Maybe if you bother to look up what’s going on you might learn they aren’t banning abortions outright they are just going to push it back down to the states to make the individual choices for their state. To many grown women who use abortions as birth control. Have relations with a guy they don’t see a future with, abortion. Have relations with a guy with lots of money, they use that baby as a credit card for 18 years to get whatever they want. Your a full blown liberal. You can’t possibly understand in any way shape or form that your wrong on anything. You have a one track mind. It’s your right and are never wrong so you don’t need to actually delve into something and read about it because you know you don’t want your position/idea challenged or changed.

Got a fresh college degree while your working at Wendy’s, waiting on Biden to cancel your debt. I like my grammerical issues. They keep you like you normally are. Pissy.

I should know because it has happened to me when I was a child. You can’t say truths now. That’s what upsets you. Same as for any women but you keep preaching about women’s rights, what about guys rights? Wow! Chicago finally gets a break from a generally cool and damp spring with this week’s unusually warm summer weather and they lose a game because the Guardians failed to practice proper guidelines. There has been an uptick in players going on the COVID related IL the past few weeks, along with coaches but nothing that has resulted in postponements. Considering the generally higher infection rates hitting the country now as a result of relaxed or abolished mandates, this is hardly surprising.

The only think it really seems to accomplish is that a gives a person the opportunity to post on social media that they’ve test positive for Covid and ask for thoughts and prayers for their runny nose.

Why aren’t you yelling at these super spreader events also know as “baseball games”. Cause you know that’s crap, or atleast that people won’t listen to it.

The fuel prices aren’t the GOP’s fault, not at all. Nevr said that.

Meanwhile the GOP won’t even consider any legislation by a Democrat because they’re too weak to admit that someone else might have a good idea.

The inflation stemmed from the stimulus packages under the Orange regime, where the GOP-led Senate approved them. They get blame for sure.

The silver lining here is that as division rivals they have plenty of meetings already on the schedule. Nobody loves to play a double header, but this could be a lot worse if it was an inter league series or something.

Hopefully everyone is back soon and this is a minor bump in the road.

I’d like you to explain what benefit you believe accrues to officials who mandate Covid protocols, and how this equates to “total control” over you (or anybody), and how this differs essentially from laws mandating speed limits, seat belts, functioning headlights and taillights, driver’s licenses, auto insurance, noise limits in the vicinity of hospitals, stop signs, traffic lights, driving sobriety laws, lawn watering restrictions in drought areas, burning restrictions in dry weather, hazardous waste restrictions, controlled substance laws that prevent the street sale of dangerous drugs, and laws against selling cigarettes to minors.

And if you don’t protest those laws as violations of “liberty,” why not, Otto?

The Cardinals the other day stated they weren’t sure if the team and support personnel were all vaccinated. lol

My guess is it’s closer to 75% and no getting the vaccine was never going to fully guarantee you wouldn’t get COVID. Just like wearing a condom isn’t a full proof guarantee from getting some STD or knocking some broad up.

May I suggest that antagonizing each other is counterproductive, whether our views are right or wrong?

They’re quite open about it on Russian TV — the Kremlin is engaged in a cyber program to divide the U.S. into warring factions, and talking heads on their TV networks gloat about it openly.

Here’s one op that worked like a charm:

        texastribune.org/2017/11/01/russian-facebook-page-…

This isn’t new. The Russians have been at this tactic since the early days of the Soviet Union. They know better than a lot of Americans what Patrick Henry meant when he said in his last speech: “Let us trust God, and our better judgment to set us right hereafter. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us not split into factions which must destroy that union upon which our existence hangs.” He collapsed at the end of his speech and died two months later.

Divided we fall. This is how they’ve been trying to destroy us.

I don’t get into these discussions to call people names or belittle them. (Okay, sometimes my sense of humor can be a bit . . . shall we say, tart?) I just reflexively react to disinformation and try to point it out when I see it. The hope is that at least some people won’t be so married to their positions that they’ll consider the information.

I don’t kid myself that it’ll get through to everybody. I realize a lot of my fellow Americans have been battered relentlessly with disinformation for years and they’ve been convinced to distrust anything else. But whose fault is that? I think the bulk of the blame belongs to the liars who pump that stuff out.

If somebody gets burned by a con man, I suppose you can react by mocking the victim for being a sucker. But if I hear of some poor schmo getting his bank account plundered by scammers, I feel badly for him and detest the jerks who victimized him. Maybe that’s too idealistic, but I’d rather be an idealist than a cynic. And I sure don’t want to help the Russians destroy my country. My people have been here since it was a British colony and many have bled to preserve it. I don’t want to betray my ancestors and side with an enemy.

DSOM was the peak for me. The rhythm of Money prepped me for a dive into Dave Brubeck’s Time Out. Years later, I got to sit in with Joe Morello. My head almost exploded. Honestly, the sound of those records drew me (back) into music and now I’m a professional jazz bassist. But that time period where everything started to blend together was pretty cool for music.

Eh, I see spill-over “discussions” like this on every corner of the interwebs. I’ve just accepted it as “the new normal” and carry on. Hope all is well with you DS, how are your Phils looking? Want a ‘pen piece in Lamet? We could use an OFer over here…

Of course, I have a brain and empathy, unlike a sad sack like you who has some dust bunnies upstairs and a limpdick downstairs.
