Do you agree that the key for a successful minor league is what you do in Latin America(specially in DR and Venezuela)???

No, but I think it should be 15% to 20% of your minor league system. It’s a chunk of players that should be utilized as building blocks. (If you can draft them, afford them, scout them properly, etc.)

No thanks on Alonso, pitching is FAR more valuable.

Apparently hitting is pretty important say the rangers.

Mariners not trading 5 years of a starting pitcher for one year of Alonso.

Assuming you mean Jasson and not Seranthony, probably both teams pass. Burnes should land some nice prodpects, but likely more down level as he’s also down to one year of control, his K rate has plummeted and he’s about to become very expensive. The Yankees, on the other hand, need a CFer, a switch hitter, and a low-cost player to balance out their high payroll. Doesn’t seem like a match.

Mark said John Henry ruined the Red Sox reputation, good to see he spoke the truth this time instead of blindly defending management.

grnmtn – Great question!! You got lucky, he doesn’t usually answer questions that are critical of ownership.

Loved the name you used, I thought it might have been KD! Haha!

The josh field trade is part of why LA fans are still so salty about the shenanigans. They traded a stud to try and win the world series, and it looks way less bad if the Dodgers win.

Alvarez was 16, had never played an inning for any Dodger affiliate. It’s ridiculous to play this up as if they knew what they had.

True. No one expected this outcome for Alvarez.

Lets see if Mark was right about the Stros wrapping it up tonight.. so far they’re losing, half-way through the game.

kellin – Most of these writers always pick the favorites, it’s crazy to bet against The Great Nate … one of the greatest big game pitchers this decade.

Well, I picked the Stros to go to the world series at the beginning of the post season, but a lot of my other predictions were wrong. Its just nice these two series have gone at least 6 games.

I was surprised to see him take the Astros when the starting pitchers were Framber Valdez and Nathan Eovaldi. Then again, Johan Santana gets his vote for the Hall?

John Smoltz was seen asking Yordan Alvarez for an autograph. I wonder if he cries on live TV if Texas beats Houston.

John Schmoltz seemed pretty chagrined about the various pitching philosophies used tonight. There were pitch sequences that were definitely not up to his high expectations lol. He sniffed, and sneered, and rolled his eyes I’m sure.

You mention Portland and Charlotte as possible expansion cities. The problem is Charlotte has no baseball expansion committee and the one in Portland shut down after the demonstrations downtown a couple years ago.
Nashville is probably the best bet, however the Braves and Reds will vote against it.
Salt Lake City actually has an owner ready, land for a ballpark and village and plans to build the ballpark. They are light years ahead of everyone else. They just need to convince MLB the area will grow as much as they project and can support a team.
