I think with Jotcast it’s semi-difficult to go back when you’re getting tons of new ?s all the time, unless you mean pre-Chat ?s

“I think the Angels should just sign one of them long-term and forgo the opt outs.”

The Angels are bad (projected for 78-84; 4th in the west @ fangraphs), Keith Law just ranked their farm system 29th and neither Snell nor Montgomery are young. They seem like one of the last teams that should be tying up a large sum of future money on one of these 2 pitchers.

This seems like an example of spending money just to spend money. They should use any financial room they have available to take on bad contracts and try to build their system. Lack of depth and cheap fill ins is what killed them for much of Trout’s career there.

I know you have Trout and Rendon signed and it sucks to waste them, but they’re not going to buy their way into relevancy unless they’re cool spending $350m/yr

      1984. Yes and no.

It’s possible there is enough talent that the Angels can be good in a couple years. It’s also possible most of the young talent stinks.

I think the Angels should let 2024 play out, evaluate what they have, and then figure out their next step.

Montgomery or Snell are unlikely to help, and their contracts are more likely to be albatrosses than not.

The guy is not even 25 yet and made vast improvements at AAA last year. Growth is not linear. Oh and his sprint speed is in the 90th percentile and hit the 6th hardest ball in the AL last year

I also think his bat speed was in the 98th percentile.

The story of his death has been greatly exaggerated.

    Tigers sign Montgomery…
Trade Olson and Mize to the Reds for Edwin Arroyo and Cam Collier.
