You’d think they’d get embarrassed walking back and forth between the Batters Box and the dugout but they never seem to. The Grounds crew must get tired or resodding it after each home stand..

White Sox Erick Fedde just gave the 1st place Cleveland Indians 6 innings giving up just 1 run. The Erick Fedde All-Star chatter is getting louder. ERA now 3.13. He is signed through 2025 at $7.5 million per. Trade price is going up by the day. Farm system about to add some unexpected studs from Fedde.

I also find it hilarious that Counsell has basically decided to refuse to play Hoyer’s stewbums anymore and is basically playing with no reserves. Bote, Wisdom, Mastrobuoni basically sit and rot and who can really blame him. Since Hoyer refuses to get rid of them and at least bring up somebody else he’s just going to go down in flames and basically give him the finger. It’s not like he’s gonna get fired.

All 3 are just wasted roster spots. It’s really pathetic. Yesterday and today he did use them. They went 1 for 3. Then the cubs as I’m sure you know, had a fake rally again.

Don’t think it mattered. Actually would have helped the NL as AL pitchers didn’t bat as often. Not that they weren’t pinch hit for. Did the NL teams only have 8 good bats and couldn’t find a 9th guy who could hit? I don’t think it factored in significantly. Even if NL just said forget the DH we are using pitchers to hit, 1 lineup spot at #9 shouldn’t allow the AL to dominate like that.

Anyone know if the NL ever had a stretch of dominance or if AL had another stretch in the past?

Streaks like this have occurred before, although this one is the worst.I am going by memory and I think the game started in 1933 and the AL dominated into the 50’s,where it balanced for 8 years or so,then the NL was dominant for 20 years.Mid 80’s to mid 90’s it was balanced again.

        6.0 Gunnar Henderson
        5.0 Juan Soto
        4.9 Bobby Witt Jr.
        3.6 Jarren Duran

4 of the top 5 on 3 different teams in the AL East.

That last time we had a 12-fWAR player was Bonds in ’01 & ’02, just put his season in perspective. And right now we have 2 on-pace for 12 (Judge, Gunnar).

And the last time before that that there was a 12-fWAR player? How about 1927 when there were 2…on the same team: Ruth (12.9) & Gehrig (12.4) from Murderer’s Row.

According to wRC+ and Fwar, the entire AL lineup is exactly what it should be. All 9 guys are the best at their position.

The NL isn’t quite as right.

Will Smith has been fractionally better at catcher, but Contreras isn’t far off.

Mookie Betts has been a better SS. It’s not close

Nimmo probably should have been the 3rd OF over Tatis Jr. It’s close, but Nimmo has been a little better.

Turner at SS over Betts is the one really bad miss, at least according to the metrics

Will Smith has been the most consistent (best) offensive catcher (OPS+) since he came into the league and leads all catchers in WAR in that same timeframe, and this year leads in throwing runners out attempting to steal. He deserves to be in, especially if J.T. is still hurt when the game comes.

JT will begin to get worn down in the next couple of years and DD needs to get a better backup for him since it will not be a game or two every week anymore.

    No LeBron? Then it’s worthless.

The MLB All star game is absolutely the most worthless endeavor in the history of sports. I’m going to skip this yawnfest.

    AL:

Second Base: Jordan Westburg – Better wRC+ and defense.

Outfield: Good selections but Jarren Duran should be on the roster as well.

    NL:

Catcher: Good pick for catcher but I do hope Will Smith is on the team.

Shortstop: Elly De La Cruz should have been selected. His offense, defense and fWAR are significantly better than Turner. Only thing going for Tuner is the wRC+.

Outfield: Good choices but I hope Jackson Merrill is selected to the team.

Astros have 2 starters? Those new trash cans and buzzers are starting to pay off ahead of schedule.
