Alex Bregman did not have a good start to his platform year. The two-time All-Star hit .216/.283/.294 through the season's first month. His production in May was better (.221/.276/.442) but still far below his typical level. Bregman wasn't the biggest culprit for the Astros' rough start -- rotation injuries and a complete lack of production out of first base shouldered the majority of the blame -- but his underperformance was another red flag in a season that looked like it might go off the rails.
That's all changed in the past two and a half months. Player and team alike have found their stride since the start of June. The Astros are 39-22 going back to June 1. That includes an ongoing seven-game win streak that is the current best in MLB. A team that was once 12 games below .500 and 10 games back in the division race now holds a game and a half lead on the Mariners in the AL West. Houston and Seattle have almost completely pulled away from the defending champion Rangers, who have plummeted 9.5 back of a playoff spot.
Bregman is one of the biggest reasons for that resurgence. He has been a top 25 hitter in MLB since the start of June, hitting .302/.357/.516 with 12 homers. He's got five longballs in August alone, tying him for fifth (behind Jake Burger, Corey Seager, Ketel Marte and Juan Soto) in that regard. Bregman has put his early-season swoon behind him, albeit with one notable change from his pre-2024 production.

Well if a club misses out on him they will probably have a chance to get his statistical brother Matt Chapman. I know Chapman has been better this year tho. They are generally similar I think.

His walk percentage has probably recently decreased due to his increase in first pitch swings
all in the suit that you wear
The Astros have also returned to form. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them in the ALCS again.

Just to watch them blow another one while cheating.

I’m very curious what he ends up with. I don’t envy the fanbase of the team who signs him. I’m pessimistic about his future output

Not much surprise here – Bregman has been such a reliable slow starter and steady improver over the course of seasons over his career that he might have been the first name to come to my mind for that type of player among actives.

Yes Bregman is slow but late to show up this season. I want to think a few years back he had some injury or such and was not sure if would get back to form. I could be wrong.
I saw perhaps teams interested in Bregman are the Diamondbacks, Seattle and one other. That with Boras his agent and way his offense has been he will not draw a huge contract thing like think wants. Myself with not getting going till well late in season. I know tonight didn’t have much. Team looked gassed. But got a HR from Pena and a hit in 10th by Dubon that scored the winning run.
I like the offense output but still some questions like Dezenzo tailing of late. Would he be a replacement at first or third for next season if Bregman walks.
Is our window of runs to the playoffs closing after this season. We could lose Bregman and we have a need at first and third. I think Outfield is a need. Chas not great. Meyers not consistent. RF with Tucker he could be around next season just to build himself up for missing most of this season. Will need pitching. Bullpen as well. Who knows what team and management look like with off season. I still am not a Espada fan as manager. He has managed but just a manager feel like some brought to team. Dana as well. But let us keep things up. We are pulling away from Rangers but still have Seattle lurking if their offense starts to pick up. But let us have a good Sox party for the next week.

Houston was stumbling badly, suddenly they are winning gangbusters.

Yankees started off great, then had a stretch where they lost 14 of 18. Welcome to baseball, bud.

Look I have no definitive proof, but listening to Altuve on my shortwave radio, I have my suspicions.

Dumb
MLBTR needs to hire editors
How much money is Scott Boras giving MLBTR to write this player-friendly piece to juice his soon-to-be free agent client’s market?

so i guess you could say metaphorically that he is hearing the banging of the cans more clearly these days.
