Giants, Drew Ellis Agree To Minor League Contract

By Anthony Franco | May 14, 2025 at 11:10pm CDT

The Giants are signing corner infielder Drew Ellis to a minor league deal. The move was announced by the Atlantic League’s Lexington Legends, where he had opened the season.

Ellis, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Diamondbacks. The Louisville product spent parts of two seasons with Arizona, batting .134 with 33 strikeouts in 97 plate appearances. He made a one-game cameo with the Mariners in 2022 and appeared in 12 contests for the Phillies the following year. That remains his most recent big league experience. Ellis spent some time in Triple-A with the Angels last season, posting a .243/.373/.414 line with almost as many walks as strikeouts in 134 plate appearances.

The right-handed hitter only spent two weeks with Lexington. He mashed over his 13 games, connecting on five home runs while batting .373 with nine walks and 11 strikeouts in 60 plate appearances. It was enough to get Ellis back into affiliated ball. He’s a career .247/.365/.490 hitter over parts of four Triple-A seasons.

Is the ghost of Farhan doing this?

Relax, dude – every team makes minor league moves for depth. No harm in seeing if the dude can mash in AAA.

No need to report this either and yes, FZ approved this move

You’re quite obsessed with Farhan Zaidi.

A love so deep and wrong that it must be disguised as hatred, fooling nobody.

Grant Brisbee wrote a great article about how much Zaidi has contributed to the current state of the Giants. He wrote about Sabean and Posey as well. I don’t miss him BUT he has left a decent cupboard. His drafting was weak. However, 6 of 9 in the lineup are Zaidi pickups/draftees. I’m not an apologist but ff you are just blind, for whatever reason, the name, the religion? Who knows but your takes are weak.

Farhan’s continued jerking players around, up and down, and his accountant approach to baseball is what made him a poor POBO.

And in Bisbee’s article he neglects to mention that it was Posey who really brought Chapman in when Farhan was (according to reports and the ownership group’s feelings) about to lose him.

Right so Farhan is responsible for basically the 4 worst bats in the lineup and Lee. Sounds like he had a plan to keep us around .500 and it’s working! BTW the only reason I keep bringing up Farhan is because it always gets a reaction from my fans (thats you idiots)

You just admitted and implied that you’re constantly wrong, overreact, obsess, and have Farhan Zaidi’s metaphorical dick so far into your throat that you just do it to get reactions out of us because of how outlandish and stupid you look with these Farhan-bashing comments and predictions.

Well, thanks for the entertainment, though. I always knew it was more obsession than facts with you.

Wow you really nailed it! I’m actually right more often than wrong which is the real reason I piss you off so much. The rest of your friends are trying hard not to respond but let’s be honest, they have no lives like you and will eventually have something dumb to say just like you.
