Now that the season is over, we’ll start seeing several players choose to become minor league free agents. Major League free agents (i.e. players with six-plus years of big league service time) will hit the open market five days after the end of the World Series, but eligible minor leaguers can already start electing free agency.
To qualify, these players must have been all outrighted off their team’s 40-man rosters during the 2025 season without being added back. These players also must have multiple career outrights on their resume, and/or at least three years of Major League service time.
We’ll offer periodic updates over the coming weeks about many other players hitting the market in this fashion. These free agent decisions are all listed on the official MLB.com or MILB.com transactions pages, for further reference.
Catchers
- David Bañuelos (Orioles)
- Sandy León (Braves)
- Ali Sánchez (Red Sox)
Infielder
- Emmanuel Rivera (Orioles)
Outfielder
- Joshua Palacios (White Sox)
Pitchers
- Nabil Crismatt (Diamondbacks)
- Angel Perdomo (Athletics)
- Tayler Scott (Astros)
- Wander Suero (Mets)
- Bruce Zimmermann (Brewers)
Crismatt has a very decent season with the Dbacks, he have them a solid starter for a month, when most needed. Too bad it ended on a bad outing.
He can be the long reliever middle innings spot starter guy. His change up is very good.
I hope he pitches well for Colombia in the WBC. He should start against Cuba or Canada.
Some 2023 Pirates legends on this list. I thought Palacios and Perdomo were gonna be solid players. Perdomo was just derailed by injuries. Palacios showed some spark, but that’s about it.
Maybe for the next CBA, they’ll work on changing the 26 and 40 man rosters so the 26th and 40th can remain instead of being DFAed repeatedly. Limit pitchers on an active roster to 12 or less and have a three to five member taxi squad. Not fair to the families never mind the players. Give 50% service time with MLB minimum pay and benefits to those in the taxi squad. Union would be happy and I think the additional cost to teams would be ok with most teams. A third catcher lives life on the edge waiting for an injury or health update. Same with the 12th pitcher.
