4,604 people entered the MLB Trade Rumors Free Agent Prediction Contest this year. To date, eight of MLBTR’s top 50 free agents have signed, including four who accepted a qualifying offer.
MLBTR’s readership is off to a great start, particularly with those QO players. So far, three contestants have predicted seven of eight correctly, and many people have five or six correct. Click here to check out the contest leaderboard, which will be updated as more top 50 free agents sign.
You can search for a contestant name in the leaderboard, and clicking on a name shows you that person’s picks. There’s also a “view all” link next to “staff entry,” which allows you to see picks by the MLBTR writing staff. The contest closed on November 13th at 11pm central.
This leaderboard is accessible under the Tools menu for those on the desktop version of the website, and under the flame icon in the upper left for mobile web users.

Oof. Only one right so far. Naylor.
How anyone could guess 7 correct is beyond me
Jimmy the Hand is crushing you, Badfinger.
Jimmy Hand has Biff’s sports almanac
So far a good strategy would’ve just been to guess every player would resign with the team they just left
I did that a lot of players tbh, but not with QO except Gleyber. Bad judgment there!
I find all the projected re-signings so interesting. I remember reading that somewhere between 25%-30% of free agents in a typical offseason re-sign with their most recent club – including by accepting the Q.O. But, when you do the math on the “Most Popular” choices for each player, 56% of the players listed had their most recent team as their #1 picked landing spot in the contest. When you expand it out to all the teams listed as popular choices for each player in that post, it balloons to 72%.
That said, re-signings do tend to happen earlier in the offseason, so, to your point, if you want to rack up correct guesses fast, it would be a good strategy.
I thought this wasn’t officially announced, though thank you to the person that clued me into where it was! *Under Tools BTW!
I got 3 right. I’m not good at this game…
I have 5 I think all QO and Naylor.
I got 4, Padres fans are brilliant
Slot me 8 in the lineup today, coach… oh-fer checking in here.
Only one correct so far….The hardest one…Cease.
So…um…what does one get for finishing last?
We can start a club
I just want to finish comfortably in the middle. That way it won’t be as much of a lie when I fib about finishing near the top.
Gosh, is that THE Anthony Franco with 1 out of 8?
Kyle Schwarber to Pirates
Im batting 500
So far it looks promising with 6, I would have picked Naylor back in Seattle if I hadn’t seen a clip of a Dipoto interview, so I’m blaming Jerry for that. Helsley to O’s is a lucky guess, but will need more of those to get into the very top. I was thinking about Helsley to the Dodgers, but I placed other relievers there.
I have already won a subscription for top 10 in the 2021-22 offseason, so maybe I’m not that bad at this. I will probably get some almost obvious picks right like Realmuto to Philadelphia or Bichette in Toronto. The Sonny Gray trade is not good since I put 4 top FA in Boston hoping at least 2 work out, but now they might not be interested in Gallen or Valdez that much. I still have Alonso and Bregman going there.
Looks like I won’t be repeating as champion lol
Now you’re outta pocket, al! Congrats btw 🤙🏽
