Mets Sign Josh Fogg

By Tim Dierkes | January 29, 2010 at 10:46am CDT

The Mets signed pitcher Josh Fogg to a minor league deal, reports Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post.

Despite poor peripheral stats, Fogg managed to post a 3.74 ERA in 45.6 relief innings for the Rockies last year.  He tossed another 40.3 ugly innings as a starter in the minors.  In his best days, Fogg was able to chew up 30 starts with an ERA around 5.00 for the Pirates and Rockies.

Well, at this point in the offseason our choices are: 1) Terrible, 2) Horrible, and 3) Oy!
      Take your pick.

It’s a MINOR LEAGUE DEAL people. Not a big deal; they’re paying him pennies.

Mets fans are funny. Overreacting to a minor league deal. Don’t see the press release stating that Minaya expects to be the Mets’ No. 2 starter.

This is a sad day for R.A. Dickey. He is no longer the Mets best off season pickup.

I like R.A Dickey… Honestly speaking Kelvim Escobar might be truely the best pickup for pitchers this offseason for the mets

The Mets are a joke. It gets worse and worse for them. They are paying this guy minimal money but he is not a solution. BTW Escobar was a good signing for them. Very high upside.

You sound like a fugitive from the “Six Teams Considering Chien-Ming Wang” thread, where you can find every kind of permutation of “wang,” “wood,” and “balls” innuendo you can think of. It’s SO yesterday. Literally.

I believe it was “Six Teams Considering Wang” but you’re right he’s trying to keep the fire burning, not happening.

Wang & Bedard. Get it done. If we’re going on the basis of “our team is good if they are healthy” why not add these high reward guys and make that this year’s slogan.

Every year they have a new slogan, I’m not sure what this year’s is.

I’m not sure why everyone is so confident that the Mets roster will be less injured this year. Our guys do not have a good track record.

No one left on the market will really improve the Mets rotation effectively. They missed on Lackey, Pineiro, Sheets and apparently didn’t pursue Garland. Mets can a rotation involving Perez/Maine/Niese/Pelfrey win the division? I just don’t think Jason Bay was the right signing, if the Mets can’t keep any other teams in the ballpark.
However, Fogg pitched decently in the playoffs for the Rockies back in 07 and at least is a good influence on younger players.
