The Dodgers signed Claudio Vargas, according to the transactions page for the team's Triple A affiliate. The Brewers released the 31-year-old pitcher last week after designating him for assignment.
Vargas has a 7.32 ERA in 17 appearances this year with 8.2 K/9 and 4.6 BB/9. The fastball-slider pitcher has allowed 28 hits, including three home runs in 19.2 innings.
I unknowingly joked that this could happen in the Calero thread some days back. For this, I assume some responsibility. Sorry. 🙁
His velocity is down…a fastball slider pitcher cant rely on an 88mph heater.
so I guess we are making a run for the PCL title?
And how is Vargas supposed to help with that? 😉
I’d be very surprised to see him pitching in the bigs again this year. Maybe in September if the Dodgers need mop-up arms.
WHY???? did we sign this guy again? He wasn’t good enough last year – what makes the “brains” of the organization think he’d do better, especially after being DFA’d by the Brewers?
