Indians Looking At Right-Handed Bats

By Tim Dierkes | December 7, 2011 at 2:57pm CDT

WEDNESDAY: The Indians are a fit for Houston's Carlos Lee but are wary of the cost, tweets Jon Paul Morosi.  Of course, the Astros would assume a portion of Lee's $18.5MM salary.

TUESDAY: The Indians are looking at right-handed hitters such as Derrek Lee, Andruw Jones, and Mike Cameron, tweets Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.  Yesterday we heard the Indians have mild interest in Josh Willingham, and on Friday they were linked to Mark DeRosa.

Also, Morosi says the Indians are willing to trade from their bullpen depth to acquire the right bat.

Mike Cameron is only a DH at the best… I think Lee is a perfect fit for CLE.

Old, washed-up Mike Cameron and his beef with flight attendants? Too much baggage for me…

Are the Indians trying to win the 2007 World Series all over again?  Resigned Sizemore (back end of his career), traded for Lowe (back end of his career), seeking a hitter like DLee or Mike Cameron (both back end of their careers).

    Here We AREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !

Another Winter Meeting where we see the Loser organization owned and run by the Cheapskate Family formerly known as the Dolan family again scrapping the bottom of the barrel of the washed up, never will be again’s, scrap heap of vets.

Who would have ever thought but us few Cleveland Indians left that still attend the  Joke on the corner of Ontario & Carnegie.

I guess Dolan has never seen field of dream where they say “Build It And They Will Come”. The fact is the fans has shown in the past if you put a quality product on the field they will come, not only will they come but the will SELL OUT EVER GAME.

Larry & Paul Dolan step up to the plate do the right thing and sell this team to Mark Cuban I’m sure he would pay a premium just to get a team. He would put a winner on the field and we would once again see traffic jam on I 90 and I 71 after Indians games again.

You’re wrong on pretty much every single level.
The fans didn’t come over the first few months of last season when the Tribe was in first place.  They didn’t even come until the tail end of 2007.  Northeast Ohio can’t afford to support 3 sports teams, not if they want them to be good.
It’s not like Mark Cuban isn’t an owner because there are no teams to buy.  He’s not an owner because the other owners won’t let him in.  So, overlooking the fact that he would never buy a baseball team in a small market, he would never get approved, anyway.
But, hey, good luck with your delusions.

        1)  The Indians sold out 455 consecutive games from 1995-2001.  It’s second in history to the current Red Sox sellout streak and over 200 games longer than any other streak in history.

        2)  Mark Cuban inquired in 2005 about buying the Pirates but were told they weren’t for sale.  Pittsburgh is his hometown, but it shows he at least would consider a “small market” baseball team.

But, hey, good luck with your “facts.”

If the Astros can even dump a third of that contract I’d go for it. There is no reason to leave Lee out there. Pick up Hermida from the scrap heap for outfield depth and try to give Lee away. This will open up 1b for Wallace. They can at least see what they have this year and save the money for next year’s league switch.

If the Astros pay 10-12 mil of Lee’s contract then the Indians should go for it.
