To the Dodgers for Puig, let’s just collect all the Cuban outfielders.

I don’t really want Shelby Miller, which is probably the realistic target x_x

Lackey has been better then Miller so far this year and has an option for league minimum this year. In all honesty it would take more then Miller to get a Lackey deal done.

I am curious to see the asking price here considering the Royals backed away from a pitcher who is a big improvement to Guthrie and making league minimum next year.

The whole league minimum thing is getting old. He will cost 8mil or so a year on a 2 year extension.

Nope. It’s a 5hr flight from the east coast so even if he was traded a few hrs ago and it hadn’t been reported he sure ain’t starting this afternoon in San Diego.

That’s not to say someone couldn’t have made it from Memphis though. I wonder if there was someone on a flight this morning “just in case” and they’re hanging out at the SD airport waiting for the call….

welp, if it’s the Cardinals I’m not thrilled to see who has to go because it’ll mean they’re not trading for a bat.

Guess Joe Kelly losing hard last night kinda means they’re gonna double down on new pitchers instead of grabbing a bat even though they’ve scored like 5 runs in the last 3 games.

If the Cards trade Miller, am I the only one who thinks it’s a mistake? He had so much promise as a prospect, came through great for them last year, and has 1 bad year and they sour on him? That’s a bit shortsighted, imo. It’s not like he’d be the first player ever to “slump” during his “sophmore” season.

The writing was on the wall when he wasn’t a playoff starter last year.

Something about him Cardinal management doesn’t care for. Maybe it’s a mechanics thing, maybe an attitude thing, maybe they figure he’s going to regress to that guy who had one good pitch and couldn’t really make it all happen.

Regardless it’s clear he’s not “needed” on the team by now. Give him a fresh start, hope he’s not the next coming of Dan Haren who was also in a similar situation then turned into an ace.

He was 100% healthy the last two months of the season and was one of the better pitchers in September as the Cards won all 5 of his starts.

He was marginally better than Joe Kelly, significantly better than Lance Lynn at the time but still didn’t get the spot over either. There was “something else” going on.

Wonder the Seattle Mariners also involved in a three way trade Lackey & Napoli or Cespedes will be headed to the Emerald City. If the Cardinals, they can use James Paxton or Brandon Maurer as either will do well in the National League w/ Brad Miller coming off the bench & give Peralta a day off, plus few others. Change of scenery for Miller is definitely a must.
