Braves To Designate Reid Brignac

By Jeff Todd | May 27, 2016 at 12:37pm CDT

The Braves have designated infielder Reid Brignac for assignment, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports on Twitter. A corresponding move has yet to be reported.

Brignac, 30, has seen action in every major league season dating back to 2008, though he’s still yet to accumulate over 1,000 total plate appearances and has only cracked 100 in a single season twice. He’s a lifetime .219/.264/.309 hitter and has fallen below even that line in his 13 games this year with Atlanta. Of course, the utilityman is valued more as a depth option with a reliable glove.

Was hopeful he could translate his nice AAA numbers, but needed to go back down.

He really needs to be back in the Braves line-up!!

With Adonis back, the line-up looks like it may actually be rounding into form finally!!

      LH Ender Inciarte LF
      RH Gordon Beckham 2B
      LH Freddie Freeman 1B
      RH Adonis Garcia 3B
      LH Nick Markakis RF
      RH Tyler Flowers C
      RH Chase d’Arnaud SS
      LH Mallex Smith CF

The line-up above I am beginning to think provides the Braves with the best opportunity to win…

Also, even though it may be a small sample size, let’s give some credit to Chase d’Arnaud for how well he has been playing!! I’m not entirely sure how he’s doing according to defensive metrics, but from what I’ve seen so far he is playing a very acceptable SS. Also, I am not sure exactly what adjustments he has made this year, but he has absolutely been a solid and steady force wherever he has been placed in the line-up…

So basically I just really wanted to give Chase a shout out for how well he has been playing this season!! Congrats to him, I’m sure his results thus far are from countless hours of batting practice, watching video, and studying scouting reports!! I’m just glad to see all of his hard work coming back around to reward him with a solid start to the season!!

Adonis has to find his power again or the Braves are in trouble. Every player aside from one is mediocre to bad. Mediocre is fine for this year, but they need Adonis and Ender to step up

Agreed 88, and Chase has looked great. I know he had error issues, but he was our only pop before being sent down. I do still like Beckham, but think he can be rotated in with Frenchy.

Or auto correct! It’s all right, man, I, too, have plenty of those days.
