As long as Chief Wahoo is around every Cleveland offseason is an F. It’s a shame because I really like the team. But that logo is unconscionable.

Prepare for the unfortunate internet warriors that are going to attack you for having a brain

It needs to go, so does the “chop” and I also find the term “Yankee” offensive too.
Kayrall
Don’t forget ‘Pirates’. That is a derogatory term offensively labeling an ancient sea-faring people with a different lifestyle.
jdgoat
I forgot about the genocide the Yankees or pirates faced
Kayrall
North American pirates are completely gone…
jdgoat
Congrats?
indiansfan44
The Yankees would be the ones that committed the genocide against the Native American tribes
davidcoonce74
Well, the “chop,” being something fans do is harder to get rid of. Getting rid of Chief Wahoo is easy. It only takes courage. Yankees and Pirates aren’t groups of people that had their land stolen from them, their women systemically raped and murdered, their children forced to assimilate and had e tire tribes wiped out of existence. But nice try. As hard as I try, I can’t find a logo for the Yankees that is offensive to northerners, nor can I find any evidence anywhere that “pirates” are an ethic group.

So discrimination is only wrong if it is against a group of people that suffered in previous generations?
Should we use a sliding subjective scale to determine whether it’s ok to use a group of people for a team name? Maybe a “how much did they suffer” flow chart?
davidcoonce74
Define “discrimination”? Chief Wahoo is not “discriminatory.” That’s a system that denies people rights. Chief Wahoo is a symbol of racism, an overtly racist symbol of racism. Racism and discrimination are different things, although in some cases they are interconnected.
davidcoonce74
And if you don’t think Native Americans suffered in this country both through racism AND discrimination, then I hope you open a history book sometime.
davidcoonce74
And “previous generations” really? Natives don’t suffer in 2017? Give me a break.
Kayrall
The descendants of Native Americans greatly prosper in 2017.
BravesBoi
You don’t “systematically” rape people idiot.
sufferforsnakes
Indians murdered some of my ancestors in northern Ohio. Do you think that’s okay?
sufferforsnakes
That’s just your opinion. Others are of the opinion that it’s nothing more than the symbol for a baseball team.
I know real Indians who are not the least bit bothered by Chief Wahoo.
You social justice warriors just want to tell others want to think and do, according to your rules.
sufferforsnakes
And as long as Indian casinos are around people will lose all their money to those thieves.
Kayrall
This… so much.

A great offseason for Cleveland since no matter what the result, they got Encarnacion and Logan for a significant discount.
Most underrated move would probably be the acquisition of Cooney. And the fact that we not only took him from the Cardinals but then we also got him to resign to a minor league deal.
Polish Hammer
Sure on Encarnacion, but Logan gets a ton of $$$ for being a lefty on lefty specialist pitching to one batter. Considering they have Miller in the ‘pen Logan wasn’t as big of a need as expected.
Mattimeo09
I don’t know. Having a LOOGY may be more of a want than a need, but it’s certainly very useful.
And considering how well the other relievers got paid compared to Logan, I think Cleveland did very well
