Pro Football Rumors Seeking Part-Time Writers

By Zachary Links | February 6, 2018 at 3:00pm CDT

We’re looking to add part-time contributors to the Pro Football Rumors writing team. The position pays on an hourly basis. Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Exceptional knowledge of all 32 NFL teams, with no discernible bias.
  • Knowledge of the salary cap and transaction-related concepts.
  • At least some college education.
  • Extensive writing experience, with professional experience and a background in journalism both strongly preferred.
  • Keen understanding of journalistic principles, ethics and procedures. Completion of basic college-level journalism classes is strongly preferred.
  • Attention to detail — absolutely no spelling errors, especially for player and journalist names.
  • Ability to follow the site’s style and tone.
  • Ability to analyze articles and craft intelligent, well-written posts summing up the news in a few paragraphs. We need someone who can balance quick writing with thoughtful analysis. You must be able to add value to breaking news with your own insight, numbers or links to other relevant articles.
  • Ability to use an RSS feed reader. Ability to use Twitter. Both of these are crucial.
  • Strong weekend evening availability is crucial. The ideal candidate will be available for most Friday and/or Saturday evenings.
  • Weeknight availability (5-11 pm central time Monday-Friday) is also a plus.
  • Flexibility. You must be available to work on short notice.

If you’re interested, email pfrapplications@gmail.com by February 9 (11:00pm central time) and take a couple of paragraphs to explain why you qualify and stand out. Many will apply, so unfortunately we cannot respond to every applicant.

    “no discernible bias”?

I think all applicants will show bias, on the Kaepernick situation, one way or another 😉

Right? You’re either pro first amendment or anti-patriotic. Seems a tad confusing.

Well pretty much just anti-patriotic. We hold the first amendment against the government. Our speech can be limited with our consent by contract, such as in employment agreements.

The NFL chooses not to prevent anti patriotic messages by it’s players on each and every broadcast, but chooses to prevent patriotic messages in it’s super bowl ads.

Great reason to boycott NFL, and great reasons not to want to see it promoted on our favorite MLB sites. NFL is toxic

Also, the NFL drags the flag all over the ground, to have the men and women of the military hold it up horizontally (both big time no-no’s), but nobody bats an eye at that. It’s an interesting debate, that will likely not sway anyone one way or the other.

It’s only “anti-patriotic” if they were protesting the nation, and you know full well that wasn’t the case.

@RytheStunner: Given that disrespecting the flag and veterans has nothing at all to do with the conduct of some local police agencies, I couldn’t disagree more. Once they realized the perception and implications they didn’t even slow down either, which makes it clear that it’s actually a patriotism problem.

          1. Got to agree on the catch rule
          2. Gotta change the rules because of CTE
          3. How are the games fixed?
4.-5. If the NFL is so overexposed and people are with it then why were 44 of the top 100 rated shows in 2017 NFL games, why was the highest rated show Sunday Night Football, why does the NFL Draft have such high ratings and is an event, why do preseason games have higher ratings then any MLB game, why is fantasy football a multi million dollar business and FF shows outpace MLB games, why does the NFL combine have higher ratings, why will 100+ million people watch the Super Bowl. Go poll 25 people on the street and see what their favorite sport is. Answer any of the above to prove me wrong other then your personal bias. Games are fixed dude please.

Most popular sports in America in this order NFL>College Football>NBA>MLB

I mean let’s be honest here. There are about 2,500 MLB games each year and about 250 NFL games each year. MLB annual attendance is 72 million and NFL attendance is about 17 million. MLB is the much more popular sport. If MLB teams played 16 games each season like NFL instead of 162, it would have way more attendance and views than NFL. The reason NFL looks so impressive is because the fans are forced to focus their interest on 16 games in a year. Not rocket science.

I’ve seen you post some pretty outlandish things but this one takes the cake. You know and I know nothing you said other then attendance figures because of the amount of games is true. Stop living in the 1950’s when Boxing-Baseball-horse racing were the most popular sports in America. I love MLB but when the Baby boomers die off baseball will go the way of those other two sports..novelties. Pull up a chair to the grownups table..you’re funny though..OMFG

Here is a great Forbes piece backing up my points. It is aptly titled “Don’t be stupid.” It even reminds you not to be stupid several times throughout the article, which makes it a perfect read for you. Try not to get offended and miss all of the evidence that your baseball theory is completely bogus

How in the world did that article prove your opinion of “MLB is the much more popular sport” if anything it proved the NFL’s dominance..ratings,interest,and so on. Here’s something that will make it easier for you Google-US most watched sports-US most popular sports-100 most admired athletes in America-why fantasy football has more interest then any other sports. The touchiest subject but a huge factor Google-MLB interest by African Americans all time low. Too many articles to show how lame your stance is..remember the year is 2018 and not 1955!!
