Angels To Sign Neil Ramirez

By Jeff Todd | December 20, 2019 at 9:27pm CDT

The Angels have inked righty Neil Ramirez to a minor-league deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter). It seems safe to assume he’ll receive an invitation to MLB Spring Training.

Ramirez, 30, has continued to get opportunities even as the results continue to disappoint. He’s a 4.46 ERA pitcher through 179 2/3 innings in the majors, with most of the good frames coming in his first two seasons in the league.

It’s not hard to see why teams keep thinking Ramirez might turn the corner. He throws 95 and gets a good number of swinging strikes (13.9% last year). But his command will likely always be in question, as evidenced by his career 4.8 BB/9 walk rate and worrying propensity to surrender the long ball (30 in his last 122 innings).

Eppler’s loves velo out of the bullpen. He’s another in a long line of hard throwers.

Another minor signing. My hope is to have two top of the rotation signings for the Halos but given the luxury tax, the Angels may end up signing either Ryu or Keuchel.

Look for Eppler to jump out there and give $21 million to has been a like he did last year. Now that Rendon is aboard they can lose 14-6 , 12-7 like the Rams do.

Like clockwork. Angels fans whining about signing an emergency pitching depth option when at the same time they fall in love with AAAA bench players. Happens every time.

I am disappointed I’m sure at the end of the 2019 season the angels had a blueprint for the 2020 season and it’s obvious starting pitching what should have been their priority but once again the train Derailed off the tracks and Arte Moreno hand picked another free agent non-pitcher alter Billy Eppler Direction

If you would like to compare what Disney accomplished under Disney’s ownership Billy Bavasi And Bill Stoneman Who hired Mike Scioscia the Angels catch had a thriving farm system World Series division titles compared to Arte Moreno Tony Reagan’s Jerry DiPoto Billy Eppler ?
