Dan Straily Agrees To Deal With Korea’s Lotte Giants

By Jeff Todd | December 13, 2019 at 7:36pm CDT

Long-time MLB hurler Dan Straily is headed to Korea. He has agreed to a one-year, $1MM deal with the KBO’s Lotte Giants, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network (via Twitter).

Straily, 31, has appeared in each of the past eight MLB campaigns — in six different uniforms. He owns a 4.56 ERA in 803 1/3 career frames at the game’s highest level.

After a nice showing to begin his career with the Athletics, Straily fell off the map somewhat. But he reemerged in 2016, launching a three-season run in which he threw nearly five hundred innings of 4.03 ERA ball.

Unfortunately, that run came to an abrupt end last year with the Orioles. Straily was brought aboard at the last minute to fortify a barren Baltimore pitching staff, but ended up giving up a nearly unfathomable tally of 22 home runs in 47 2/3 innings. He’ll look to get his career back on track with the KBO’s Giants.

He got more than that last season. Shows he made 5mil with 1.21m paid by the Marlins. I’m guessing O’s paid the remainder of the deal.

Oh yes, us Baltimore fans remember him….not fondly, but remember him. There were some thoughts that the pitching starved bu t also fiscally penny pinching and rebuilding Orioles might try to bring him back on the dirt cheap.

Lotte luck Dan in your new ventures.

Good bye, Dan. I was at an A’s game in June and saw you give up 4 home runs in a single inning.

Sounds like a Troy McClure line. “Hi. I’m Dan Straily. You might remember me from the day I gave up four homers in a single inning.”

You know that was based off of a real b/c grade movie actor Doug McClure. The Simpsons stopped using the character after Doug’s death after his battle with cancer.

I think they stopped using the character when Phil Hartman was killed.

That’s amazing, because he only gave up three home runs in the game.

The term “us” is comical on this site….this isnt the Green Bay Packers.. Im almost certain that the wonderful town of Cincinnati doesn’t own the Reds… In fact, im pretty sure no MLB team is town owned.. Also, kind of tired of reading all the negativity geared towards players in the comments section. I get it, they play a game and get paid millions…. They get paid that because of all of us, the fans. We buy tickets and apparel and then jump ship at the first sign of a player not living up to the hype… Please…. Im sure all of you are the absolute best at your job….
