Can we please stop with this Target Field needs/should have had a roof stuff. There have been 24 postponed games in its history. 24 in 10 years. That’s two to three per season, not 10 per season.

Sure, it’s sometimes cold in MN in April and October but it’s also sometimes cold in Chicago, NY, Detroit, Boston. All those teams get postponed games too. Baseball is meant to be played outside and no MLB team is playing in MN in January/February. A roof isn’t worth it to save 3 games or less a year especially when doubleheader’s exist or mutual off days.

After having seen the Mariners removable roof in action and hear the employees talk about how ineffective it is, I’d save your dollars. Folks, it’s not a garage door opener and that roof has to go somewhere which is an eye sore half the time. People are too empathetic for million dollar athletes playing in cold weather. Not like they are using aluminum bats with no batting gloves.

Right, but they could have built three same type of roof that the brewers have at Miller Park which is faster and a lot better. The Twins should have a domed/retractable roof stadium. They had one for years and before people say “oh come on baseball should be played outdoors!” Yeah so should football yet the Vikings just opened a new domed stadium. Having gone to college up there it’s incredibly stupid to not having a roof.

Just because they used to have a dome doesn’t mean they should always have a dome. A lot of us fans hated it even though there were nice memories from there.

Also it’s extremely weird to compare the Vikings to the Twins. One team plays 8 games or so a year in their stadium and the other plays 81. Massive difference. It would be negligent to pay 1 billion for a stadium and only use it 8 times a year. It would also be negligent to pay 100 million and only use it 8 times a year. Name any big dollar amount. That would be ridiculous and I’d be thinking that even if the owner paid for the whole thing which obviously did not happen. It would be poor money management. If the Vikings played 81 games a year, don’t put a roof on it. Problem is, they don’t even come close to that. It having a roof means it can be used year round since the Vikings barely use it.
