I think the “asterisk season” point is a tad bit overblown. After all, it’s a World Series. Regardless of the games the eventual champion will have been really good and really lucky, just like every other year.

If anything, it’s going to create genuine excitement because for the first time probably ever, all 30 teams and fanbases can realistically say “Maybe us.” at the start of opening day. Now, I don’t think the Tigers or Orioles are going to suddenly go on a World Series run, but if you’re someone like the Rangers, Red Sox, or Angels, you’ve got a shot to catch lightning in a bottle.

Flags will fly forever and one team will still be a World Series champion at the end of this. Its possible to both acknowledge it’ll be a funky year and say the winner deserved the ring. Anything can happen, just like in any other year, only this time it’s a sprint not a marathon.

The only asterisk in baseball is for 1994.

Red Sox will never run the eastern gauntlet.

If anything, it waters down the postseason and makes for shorter series. You’re not going to see a wild card coming from the east unless some teams get very sick.

Baseball is the game with the guys wearing gloves on one hand, wooden bats, white balls with seams and 4 bases that they run around, right? This sure looks like baseball.

There will be no asterisk on the stats or records from this season. Those that believe this isn’t baseball are just has entitled to their opinion as anyone else. Comments are mostly opinion anyway.

Batting 400 you would have to give an asterisk to

Coors Field Nachos>hot dogs. Probably the best nachos for a decent price $12 chicken or beef white queso and yellow queso. Plus black beans and sour cream(I think) my point is nachos will always be better than hotdogs. Unless it’s chilli cheese dog

The short season is now realistic and to me acceptable but I dislike the ideal of putting a runner on second in extra innings. It would be better to call it a tie game. Besides who wants a pitcher to get a loss by allowing a sf bunt and a sac fly. Its not baseball.

I don’t know if anyone likes that. I dont like the universal dh. If it happens I’ll take that over a runner at 2nd.

Perhaps having ties could seriously complicate the standings at the end of the seasons? Determining the tie breakers may be complicated by the way the truncated season is structured?

The runner on 2nd is exactly my point in saying this isn’t baseball. That obviously flew over the head of at least one smart-ass on the board.
