Patrick Mahomes Joins Royals Ownership Group

By Jeff Todd | July 28, 2020 at 11:24am CDT

Not long after inking a monster contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has undertaken an interesting new business venture. He’s now a part owner of MLB’s Kansas City Royals, per a club announcement.

Much as Mahomes stands to earn over the next decade, if he stays healthy, he’ll be far less wealthy than majority Royals owner John Sherman. When he landed the club last fall, Sherman and his group posted a hefty $1B.

Odds are that the ownership stake isn’t a terribly significant one. Still, it’s a notable development for sports in Kansas City. Mahomes, the son of long-time big leaguer Pat Mahomes, is arguably the top player in the NFL.

Traitor, traitor! The Tigers once invested a valuable draft pick and all their trust in him. Now he not only shuns them, but even collaborates with their rival.

Does the Tigers own rights to him? imagine if he suited up for the tigers while having an ownership in the royals. (I know it wont happen)

I think he didn’t sign with them so they don’t have him

Many wondered if Mahomes contract would have ownership stake in the Chiefs. Nobody thought about the Royals.

Write in proper English, please. “Much as” is not a way to start a sentence.

Mahomes is getting quite a bit of ink. He is now one of five football players I can name off the top of my head. Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, and Ben Roth-whatever-it-is. Those guys are all still active, correct?

Yes, although you’re gonna have to learn some new names as the latter 4 you named are nearing retirement.
