Rangers’ Brett Martin Tests Positive For COVID-19

By Steve Adams | July 3, 2020 at 1:04pm CDT

Rangers left-hander Brett Martin tested positive for COVID-19, the team told reporters Friday (Twitter link via Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram). It’s also notable that Martin is diabetic — although to this point the Rangers have thankfully indicated only mild symptoms for the southpaw. The team also has three minor league trainers conducting contact tracing for Martin, who arrived for summer camp earlier this week, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News tweets.

As with Delino DeShields Jr. and the Indians this morning, it seems quite likely that Martin gave his consent for his diagnosis to be made public. Player cases aren’t to be disclosed to the media or public without the individuals consent.

Martin, 25, made his Major League debut with the Rangers last year and pitched 62 1/3 innings across 51 appearances (49 out of the bullpen). In that time, he worked to a 4.76 ERA but a more encouraging 3.65 FIP with a strong 62-to-18 K/BB ratio. If he’s able to get back to full strength without lingering complications, Martin would quite likely be in line for a relatively prominent bullpen role — particularly given this year’s expanded rosters. He’ll need a pair of negative tests with at least 24 hours between them before he is medically cleared to return.

because they are being counted as 15-30 cases per 1 case. a leaked county meeting video has slides showing this, with board members literally saying “this is going to look like a drastic uptick in cases” this meeting happened may 18th

Surprised we aren’t having a tinfoil shortage now like we did with toilet paper a few months ago. The same people would have caused both, I think

the literal video showed how an untested cough, headache, and cold were being counted. totally nuts

luckily im in a county of 100,000 with only 100 cases since the start.

whats mind blowing is that mlb had a full season during both world wars and 1918 with the spanish flu that killed 50 million worldwide. covid kills less than 1 million world wide and the whole workd stops

Yes, a state completely run by Conservatives who would love nothing more to prove Covid a “hoax” (actually these clowns don’t need to prove anything, just say it over and over again, making perception and what you wish to be true the real “fact”) have decided to fudge numbers showing it ins’t a hoax. Yea, that’s an argument that makes a hell of a lot of sense. And those sly guys down in the Lone Star state have also infiltrated the “New World Order” to bring Marxism to the planet by suggesting ways to not put others at risk. Pro Life? Screw that if you think I should wear a mask. What was the left doing all those years fighting for social justice, poverty programs, pacifism, etc when their Utopian dream we find out can be realized at the point of a runny nose.

Dumb as these “hoax” narratives are I do not believe we should shut down life. We need to keep things open, play sports, go back to school, etc. If we are concerned about health, mental health should count and pressuring people into their basements, removing their jobs I challenge can be just as debilitating as a virus.

So yes lets keep moving things forward, but with some sensibility, which I know is a tall task for a nation full of total nincompoops.

A very well done comment and I largely agree with you. The last bit though explains exactly why things have needed to be shut down. The majority of people in this country aren’t capable of common sense approaches. Even when it is a govt mandate to wear masks, people all over are doing all they can to subvert or outright violate rules or suggestions.

Toward the beginning of all of this my GFs mother would not listen to us to wear a mask or stop going out for unnecessary reasons. She only understood the gravity of it once the government said we have to wear masks and everything started closing down. And she is an intelligent woman with a masters degree.

There’s a belligerent defiance and ignoring in this country that doesn’t respond well to a pandemic like this

Any person who calls covid a hoax are all liberals from what I have read. First they set the table calling it a hoax and then they argue against the first point they make in attempt to belittle and delute truth and fact another person states. Wolf is a classic post like that – can’t debate anything datboi states so he creates his own dialog and then debates himself.

90 million deleted facebook posts in 3 months all to fit the narrative y’all wish to believe- that info comes from a liberal whistle blower who works at facebook. And the story lines go on and on and on.
