Giants Outright Trevor Gott

By Connor Byrne | April 27, 2021 at 3:09pm CDT

Giants right-hander Trevor Gott has cleared waivers and been outrighted to the team’s alternate site, Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group tweets. Gott had been in limbo since the Giants designated him for assignment last Tuesday.

This is the second time since February the Giants have outrighted Gott, whom they relied on somewhat heavily as recently as 2019. That season, his first as a Giant, Gott threw 52 2/3 innings of 4.44 ERA/3.73 SIERA ball with a 26.6 percent strikeout rate and a 7.9 percent walk rate.

Gott was unable to build on his 2019 success last season, when he dealt with elbow troubles and tossed just 11 2/3 frames. While the 28-year-old did average an imposing 95.5 mph on his fastball, opposing offenses still smacked him around for 13 earned runs on 13 hits (including seven homers) and eight walks.

Honestly thats too bad. I dont wanna see him on the mound for the giants anymore. Him and Coonrod both give me bad memories in the 9th. Happy Sam is gone now Trevor next.

Wish we kept Coonrod. He is absolutely balling.

They could use Coonrod right about now — he’s been pitching very well for the Phillies. But, the Giants decided to go with somebody like Matt Wisler instead.

more like Mcgee, wisler is more like a replacement for watson, at least that is his role.

Coonrod wouldn’t kneel and wasn’t into the WOKE crap….so he was sent away to a milder climate

no the problem is that he threw 100 but there was no deception or movement and he lacked control so sometimes he blew guys away, sometimes he walked a lot of guys and when neither of those was happening it was going over the wall

Why would they send him to a “milder climate” as a punishment?

And lol – conservatives aren’t oppressed, edgelord

Philadelphia is not milder than San Francisco. And even if it were, your initial claim – that the evil PC police were punishing the poor oppressed conservative by sending him to a “milder climate” – makes no sense. The tsar didn’t punish dissidents by sending them to the Riviera…

Maybe try knowing what words mean before you post your screeds?

He had a 9.82 era in 18 innings. They could care less abt kneeling or not

His numbers were bad and its hard to say what the Giants would have done had he been effective, but to say they didn’t care about the kneeling is absolutely false.

“Sam and I are going to continue to talk every day so that he understands my position, and I want to understand his better,” Kapler said. “These are ongoing conversations.”

Gott was a good get for a while but he got hit too much and subsequently got himself off the roster. Giants got Gott back for a day but then he got himself back on waivers … no other team wanted to get Gott so Gott got back to the alternate site, hoping to get another chance.

Gee, what a surprise that no other team claimed him, though I wish one had. He’s there for MiL depth, and I assume, will only be back on the ML roster in an extreme emergency.
