Reds swept by Brewers and now 7 games back. A bad series against the Mets and you have to believe they will be sellers

The Mets are filled with injuries to their stating rotation.. eirkoff and Robert stock are pitching in that series. It should be a series win for the reds…

So if the Reds win the series, it’s as expected, but if the Mets win, they demonstrate how good they are despite being up against the wall. Nice win-win position to put a Mets fan in.

Mets are better than the reds no matter what happens this weekend. But yeah a team missing 4 starters who are good definitely has a legitimate excuse to lose a series….

Mets are not definitively better than the Reds, and haven’t played all that great even when healthy this year. If you want to talk imaginary stats on paper, then maybe, but in terms of the 2021 season, the Mets have not played like a huge threat to anyone.

@MetsFan22 Right. They’ve been injured. Guess what? There’s no reason to think they won’t be injured for the rest of the year. As new guys get healthy, others will get hurt. That’s baseball in 2021. Mets backups have been playing some great ball, but their pitching has been coming down to earth: Stroman, Walker, Diaz, Familia, Castro were untouchable in the early portion of the season. Now they’re showing signs of being human. The Mets offense will certainly improve. It has to, but as it does, the pitching may get worse. The Mets losing this division is not a far off reality, especially with a tough stretch in August. They currently sit just 2 games up on the Phillies, with the Braves not far behind as well. The majority of the NLE will be buying at the deadline. It’s going to be tough. Mets can certainly do it, but I think it’s foolish to sleep on their competition.

Tired of hearing fans from a team complain about so many injuries – especially the large market team full of entitled, baseball challenged fans.

Every team is MLB has had excessive injuries this year.

          As for the Mets…….

Lindor is the only guy on the field that has a half-decent Baseball IQ, and he’s undisciplined.

What a mess that team is on D. Today they gave up a run because Dom Smith threw a rainbow from LF to the cut off man that allowed a runner to score. He doesn’t have the arm to play the OF. Nimmo is a corner OF, not a CF. JD Davis is a disaster no matter where he plays on D. Alonzo is a poor 1B. McNeill at best is a ML average 2B. Guillorme is an emergency backup SS/3B/2B that shouldn’t be out there for more than 4 games at a time. The C’s are better than they had last year…..but they’re still below average.

They play like the Yankees – no awareness on the field. If they don’t outpitch and/or outhit the opposition that day, they have no way of winning. They don’t run the bases well, don’t manufacture runs, don’t make big plays on defense….and – consequently – don’t steal games.

The NLE is absolutely awful this year.

The Braves have had more significant injuries than the Mets. 3 All Star hitters and an ace…all out for the season.

          Blue Jays
          Rays
Have all lost as many or more players and they have all lost more days to injury than the Mets in 2021..

My favourite part about these chats is when someone asks what the return on (insert players name) should be and it’s way way lower than they expected and they ask other experts on Twitter and get a similar response. Fast forward to the deadline and the guy gets traded for way less than the poster expected and they freak out and say that’s it! Yeah dummy everyone told you ahead of time.

I know. It seems that fans of every crappy team are expecting to be able to get guys like Adell or Gore practically for free. It’s not happening people.

The Phillies lack of real trade assets could hurt them this deadline. They have holes and little in the farm system to fill them

Should they and the rest of the division just concede to the Mets? The Phillies are only two games back.

@MetsFan22 they’re 2 games out of 1st place. They have a much more favorable schedule than the Mets. They can take this division. They should definitely buy.

@MetsFan22 Phillies have a very good chance, and technically would be in 1st already had they not blown 4 saves against the Mets in the last series. Please keep sleeping on them and the Braves. I love it. Mets are definitely still my favorite to win it, but the over confidence is baffling.

rentals dont cost that much, and they really dont need/shouldnt trade for big time pieces anyway. 5th starter, setup man, 4th OF, maybe a closer if you can move money around. maybe a few of those things at most. nothing more.

If he gets healthy how about Mike mousakis from Cincinnati to the Yankees for aroldis Chapman. Yankees add an infielder or designated hitter. Reds get former closer back through 2022.Reds chip in some money to balance the salaries Good for both teams?

To be honest., most pizza in the US isn’t true pizza either, too doughy, too many toppings, and too much sauce. Go to Italy and you will be hard pressed to find anything resembling what they call pizza here.
