TODAY: Feliz cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A, according to Oklahoma City Dodgers communications director Alex Freeman (Twitter link).
SEPT. 9: The Dodgers have designated right-hander Neftali Feliz for assignment and reinstated fellow righty Tony Gonsolin from the 10-day injured list, per a team announcement. They’ve also optioned Mitch White to Triple-A and recalled right-hander Andre Jackson.
Feliz, 33, appeared in three games with the Dodgers and tossed three shutout innings, yielding just one hit without a walk and with one strikeout. His initial stay with the Dodgers will prove to be short, however, as is often the case with depth options the Dodgers summon from Triple-A. He’ll be placed on outright waivers or released in the next couple of days, though it stands to reason that the Dodgers would hope to retain him and at least attempt the outright route.
It’s been a dominant season for Feliz in the minors, as the 2010 American League Rookie of the Year has turned in a combined 2.13 ERA with a 40.1 percent strikeout rate and a 9.2 percent walk rate in 38 innings between the top affiliates for the Dodgers and the Phillies. Feliz was hit hard in a pair of appearances with the Phillies and quickly cut loose, at which point he latched on with the Dodgers. It’s possible that another club could claim Feliz, based on those dominant minor league numbers, but he’s a free agent at season’s end and would be ineligible for a new club’s postseason roster. Both of those factors should help the Dodgers’ chances of passing him through waivers.
Ya'll a bunch of salty crybabies
sdbaseballguy slams Andre Jackson in 3….2….1….
sdbaseballguy
No need to slam, he’ll prove he’s not ready for the bigs in an inning or 2. 261 million dollar payroll and 40% of the starts are from guys who either have no business starting a game or aren’t ready.
Ya'll a bunch of salty crybabies
And there it is folks…..Negative Nellie is at it again.
amk1920
That’s what happens when more than half your rotation gets hurt and Bauer can’t control himself off the field. They wouldn’t be starting him if they didn’t need to.
Kewldood69
Don’t be pissed because your team gave a huge co tract to Eric Hosmer lolz
paddyo furnichuh
Hosmer for HOF is sdbaseball’s old user name maybe?
That user was prone to homer-based myopia.
mcdusty49
He claims he’s a Dodgers fan living in SD lol
Dumpster Divin Theo
There are baseball fans in San Diego?
DarkSide830
imagine taking the bait so easily and being so wrong
neurogame
Wow! All those detractors and yet 13 games in front of the Padres.
sdbaseballguy
Hey maybe Bellinger can pitch? He already hits like 9th place in the batting order, apologies to Bumgarner and Greinke.
Ya'll a bunch of salty crybabies
Me thinks that Bellinger has pictures of you doing things that you shouldn’t be. The hatred is a bit much.
sdbaseballguy
If he still had options, he should have been sent to OKC to work out his issues, not 300+ AB’s in the bigs. He’s had a steady decline since June 2019 and shows no signs of improvement. Except for one extremely timely HR vs ATL, in which he inexplicably injured himself, he’s been pedestrian at best and certainly not worthy of daily big league at bats. Last I checked Cody is statistically the 5th worst player in baseball and that’s taking his fielding into consideration.
mcdusty49
Fitting that the SD fan is more concerned about the Dodgers than his own team. Must be rough being the 3rd wheel after spending all that dough
Ducky Buckin Fent
One day last winter, Bellinger took his Fiat for a spin down the coast. Ended up in San Diego.
While driving around, he toked down a fat bliggity of…what was it? “Runtz”? Anyway. Thusly elevated & blasting some Bob Marley he was trying to dig the last Flamin’ hot Funyon out of the bag when tragedy ensued. SDguy’s toy poodle ran into the road while Cody was distracted with his Funyon project.
Today, right here, we see the result of this senseless tragedy.
Don’t smoke & drive, kids.
sdbaseballguy
I’m a Dodger fan and have been one since Drysdale roamed the mound at Dodger Stadium. I live in San Diego.
mcdusty49
I’d say you’ve lived down there too long then and perhaps early onset dementia is kicking in.
mcdusty49
No Dodgers fan names themselves anything with SD in it, sorry pops you’re out.
sdbaseballguy
If anyone has dementia is Roberts. Continuing to do the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
paddyo furnichuh
Just picturing Belly’s 6’4” frame and shaggy hair in a Fiat is amusing by itself.
mcdusty49
Tied for second best record in baseball, defending World Series champion Dave Roberts? Ok gramps you’ve been traded to your local Padres’ fan base the Dodgers don’t need you anymore lol
mlbdodgerfan2015
@sdbaseballguy
You’re missing a couple of factors. One, who are you going to give Bellinger’s ABs to? It’s one thing if the Dodgers had better options. If Pollock were still healthy Bellinger probably sits against lefties. Even now he’ll sit some games against lefties. Two, nobody gives you better CF defense on this team including Mookie Betts. That’s part of the equation. As frustrated as we all are with Bellinger’s bat he’s still the best option most games.
Trueblue 5
Come on Roberts, bench Bellinger, giving up a spot in lineup is killing Dodgers
Trueblue 5
Who on the Dodgers can’t hit 160, or will that be 150 today, anyone on that tea. Could hit better
mlbdodgerfan2015
Who are you going to put in there McKinney? Souza? Call up Lux? Neuse? Raley? Reks? Beaty? Only one that seems rational is calling up Beaty but any positive that you get from Beaty on offense you lose on defense. Not a lot of good options. Bellinger will play against righties and Souza against lefties.
Trueblue 5
Several u named here can hit wY better than what he’s hitting. Less defense yes, but at least can hit. Bellinger is really bad and costing the team important hits and runs
paddyo furnichuh
LAD only have 3 that can play above average CF: Belly, Betts, and Taylor. Of Treatment Turner got enough practice time-he could probably do fine there again.
paddyo furnichuh
Wow autocorrect gone wrong: if Trea* Turner
Curly Was The Smart Stooge
Wow Ducky Buckin Fent, I know my elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top, but yours stops at the 13th floor!
BeforeMcCourt
Since June 2019? So 2 of 3 months in 2020 didn’t happen?
And screw the bomb. His glove won multiple playoff games last year. Hilarious when trolls ignore defense because it ruins their point
Dumpster Divin Theo
Drysdale, eh? They were awfully persnicketty with the Clampetts until Granny gave them a piece of her mind.
amk1920
Adam Fraizer is Bellinger except Preller traded assets for him, while already being an awkward fit.
stpbaseball
damn, preller is obviously an idiot for not being able to predict Frazier would have a deep slump. he was only competing for the batting title and leading the league in hits at the time. who couldn’t read those signs? awkward fit? he plays 3 or 4 positions adequately, how do you fit him into a lineup? so awkward. sarcasm tone…
BeforeMcCourt
And Adam Frazier doesn’t play a fantastic defensive center field
Ducky Buckin Fent
Just because you don’t have the ability to cut it in law school, @lolmets, doesn’t mean that applies to everyone on the board.
Some of us do all lot of other things with our lives than trolling a baseball blog incessantly. I take it the knitting blog didn’t work out for you as you are now back.
Better luck next time.
Benjamin101677
Didn’t help Bellinger when he knocked shoulder out of socket celebrating home run in post season.
Dodgers are lucky they can afford his abritration salary and hope he can figure things out in 2022.
dodger1958
I can’t imagine Belli gets a raise next year. Right now he is in the hunt for the “top” ten all time (MLB) of worst batting average with 300 at bats. .160 outta do it.
fredziffel78
Doesn’t arbitration almost ALWAYS end up giving the player a raise…even after a “down” season?
sdbaseballguy
A Chris Davis comparison is not a stretch right now…. and the zero for September continues…….
BeforeMcCourt
Really? When did Chris Davis have shoulder surgery SD?
kingsfan1968
If he’s smart he will take the qualifying offer. 100% he loses in arbitration.
sdbaseballguy
Bellinger hitting 5th today, trouble a brewing. Might he hit the .150’s today? I’ll predict a hit that keeps his squarely in the .160’s. There you have it, a positive comment!
Ya'll a bunch of salty crybabies
Baby steps, SD, baby steps.
sdbaseballguy
Maybe I was wrong, the best continues. A strikeout on a ball in the dirt and a bases loaded pop out. .150’s definitely in sight.
Ya'll a bunch of salty crybabies
Fell off the wagon already……I expected more from you.
DarkSide830
Bellinger would fit right in in the Phillies lineup right now
kingsfan1968
Angels need to claim him!
BlueSkies_LA
Blinked, missed him.

Dodger lose 2 in a row! 2.5 back!! Let go Giants!
BeforeMcCourt
Look, a giant fan. Where have you been the last 4 years?
chicoescuela
Last 4 years? Lol try the last, what, 33 years since the bums won a WS? And don’t go on about the 1/3 scale trophy from last year or the Cracker Jack box rings. I feel another choke job coming this season..and that’s not counting Bauer’s earlier this year. BOOM!
dodger1958
Chico if last year was so easy, why didn’t the Giants win the WS? I will await your insightful response?
chicoescuela
Regime change. Guess you didn’t win in Farhan’s first year either. How’s that? XD
Dumpster Divin Theo
Boom? Is that you letting off gas? No hot pockets after midnight. Your bedmate will appreciate that
Trueblue 5

Trueblue 5
Who on the Dodgers can’t hit 160, or will that be 150 today, anyone on that team could hit better
mlbdodgerfan2015
#5-8 hitters went 0 for 12 today. Yes, Bellinger went 0 for 4 but Souza, Barnes and McKinney were a combined 0 for 8. It’s not just Bellinger. Too many easy outs. You knew that any production today would have to come from #1-4. I honestly don’t know how McKinney has survived for this long. Tells you how bad the options are at AAA.
BeforeMcCourt
Defense is important
Ask the angels. With a mediocre defense, they’re a playoff team
sdbaseballguy
And just like that, the fun continues. Cody’s now at .158 and is 0 for September……but he’ll carry us in a playoff series……lol. It looks like their wildcard game bound. 3 behind in the loss column with 21 to go will be quite difficult to make up especially since SF owns the time breaker. At least wildcard game will be at home, would could possibly go wrong?
Trueblue 5
Several u named here can hit wY better than what he’s hitting. Less defense yes, but at least can hit. Bellinger is really bad and costing the team important hits and runs
Angry Disgruntled Sox Fan
Dumpster divin’ Bloom might take a look (I say that in a positive diamond in the rough light).
Didn’t this guy lie about his name and age or am I thinking of someone else?
dodger1958
I am not sure that sabermetrics reflect that Belli is playing great defense. I think he is in a funk all the way around.
sdbaseballguy
You are correct, baseball-reference list him as -0.4 dWAR this season and that seems to refute any argument folks make for actually playing him daily.
mlbdodgerfan2015
Stupid defensive stat. Theoretically a great stat but realistically stupid. Also that -0.4 dWAR includes his 1B defense. He already committed 2 errors at 1B on limited chances. Also it is a volume stat and Bellinger missed a lot of time this season. All I know is when he plays CF nobody on the Dodgers comes close to tracking down fly balls and line drives like Bellinger does. I don’t need some stupid stat to tell me that.
sdbaseballguy
Just as a comparison, Jackie Bradley Jr. has a 1.2 dWAR and Kevin Kiermaier has a 1.6 dWAR. So let’s chill the horses on Bellinger prowess in CF. He’s possibly the best the Dodgers have but far from elite by any measurement.
mlbdodgerfan2015
You still have not answered the question. How much does Bellinger’s 0.923 fielding average at 1B on a small sample size hurt his overall dWAR stat. I think a lot. Would not be surprised if his CF dWAR is comparable to the two you mentioned if not better if you put comparable number of games played at CF and erasing his 1B stats.
Also who do you think would play a better CF for the Dodgers? Pollock? Taylor? You’re joking. Betts would be comparable if not a small notch below Bellinger.
sdbaseballguy
Ok the best I can find is from Fangraphs and Bellinger is -3 DFS (Defensive Runs Saved) in CF this season. Bradley is a +8, Kiermaier is a +13. Ideally, I believe Betts is the Dodgers best CF but his sore hip won’t allow him to play the position.
FOmeOLS
Feliz was a brilliant reliever and the stupid Rangers decided to make him into a starter. He blew out his arm, had TJ and never really recovered.
Stupid Rangers…
dodger1958
Stupid and Rangers in the same sentence is redundant.
yanks2323
They shut him down cuz he has Fleas
