Wyatt Langford is going to be the next Luis Robert Jr! Baseball America ranked him 2nd in all of baseball, with Evan Carter as 4th! Those 2 top 4 prospects and Adolis in the same outfield will make for a killer lineup whenever that happens. With Wyatt, it’s even more important to put him on the OD roster because he can genuinely win RotY or finish top 3 in MVP voting and get Texas additional draft pick(s).
I remember when Luis Robert first came over from Cuba and the scouts were not too high on him. Most fans thought he would be a solid player but the baseball world had just experienced Rusney Castillo and the cost of overhyped Cuban prospects. I remember when he signed I was shocked at how cheap they got him and was wondering why more teams did not chase him at that price.
I think part of the reason they got him for that price was that first of all, life changing money, second of all, they had Jose Abreu.
I think the Padres should bring Lauer back on a 1 year deal. Then they can just pitch him against the Dodgers. Because for some reason he seems to do well against them.
James: I’ve mentioned Lauer a few times over the past few months. Even more so after bringing back Patino. 3-4 years ago when I was at ST those guys were projected to be mainstays in rotation!
Let’s fill a 4 / 5 spot cheap and hope it works out.
They have to sign – couple more bodies for sure and need a LH.
Don’t need any more pure 5 guys because there are a bunch already. Can’t afford a 1/2 guy.
Lauer makes sense. I’ve also floated Cueto (or a similar type guy).
Lauer used to do well against the Dodgers, how does he do against these Ohtani, Freeman, Teoscar Hernandez, Outman, Heyward, Margot Dodgers?
Nobody better to wrap up that analogy than Margot, Brew?

That’s the enigma with Lauer, he can get Betts, Muncy, Turner, Will Smith, and Bellinger out, but maybe not Margot? So Gwynning, I particularly included Marg
