Cubs, Kyle McGowin Agree To Minor League Deal

By Anthony Franco | May 10, 2024 at 11:26pm CDT

The Cubs have purchased the contract of right-hander Kyle McGowin from the Atlantic League’s Charleston Dirty Birds, the independent team announced (on X). According to the transaction log at MLB.com, he’s headed to Double-A Tennessee.

McGowin suited up at the MLB level for the Nationals each season between 2018-21. He made a career-high 27 appearances in 2021, pitching to a 4.20 ERA through 30 innings. Washington outrighted him off the 40-man roster at the end of that season. McGowin hasn’t pitched in the majors since then. He spent part of last season in Triple-A with the Astros, struggling to a 7.36 ERA over 62 1/3 frames in the Pacific Coast League.

The 32-year-old made a pair of impressive starts in the Atlantic League. He fanned 11 against one walk over 10 innings of four-run ball. McGowin pitched almost exclusively in relief during his MLB time with the Nats, but he has spent most of his minor league career as a starter. He owns a 5.08 ERA in parts of six Triple-A campaigns and has a managed a 4.34 mark through six years at the Double-A level.

When are they finally going to replace the dump of a stadium that is Wrigley Field (sellout name btw)?

White Sox, the real stadium/location/fanbase/history/team of Chicago. SOUTHSIDE Chicago>>>>>>northside Chicago

      Lol

No one thinks Comiskey Park is better than Wrigley Field. Apparently besides you. Whose user name implies jacoby Ellsbury was good enough for the “very good HOF. Let alone the HOF.

The Chicago National League ballclub has spent over the past 10 years something like $900M to rebuild the park and develop the neighborhood area around the ballpark. So I don’t think they will be moving soon.

Hahaha, this is one of the funnier troll attempts. He’s not being serious…. OBVIOUSLY. He’s actually making fun of White Sox fans(which is as low of hanging fruit as you can find)

I wonder where they’ll end up, Nashville? New Orleans? Maybe that will get them far enough out of the Cubs shadow in that city. Reinsdorf has rendered that team an irrelevant punchline. The fans (what’s left of them) deserve better. Nahhh, I’m not making fun of White Sox fans, they got it bad enough. I actually respect the loyalty in spite of the absolute embarrassment they’ve been.

It’s ALL on Reinsdorf and the clowns (YES men) that he keeps hiring to run the team. They’re in the worst place to be because of him. Terrible attendance, terrible ratings so he refuses to spend like he’s in a major market. But it’s not the fans fault, the fans are not dumb. The White Sox have easily the worst ML roster in the game and sadly they also have a terrible farm system. They haven’t signed a stud FA in his prime since Albert (Joey?) Belle and that was 30 years ago and dude was literally crazy. Why would the fans show up?

Nothing will change til Reinsdorf is gone.

You’re right on the last sentence. The last two weeks(Tommy Pham era) they’ve played much better. I think their farm system is ranked 20th which isn’t terrible and expect it to go up once the trade deadline passes. I’m not sure about the Yes men fiasco.
