The Mariners are among the teams with interest in Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez, reports Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Adam Jude of the Seattle Times further reports that Suárez is viewed as Seattle’s top target in its well-known search for a corner infield upgrade. Jude adds that the Mariners and D-backs have held “preliminary” discussions regarding Suárez, whom Seattle views as a preferable option to Arizona first baseman Josh Naylor.
[Related: Seattle Mariners Trade Deadline Outlook]
The 34-year-old Suárez has emerged as perhaps the most coveted bat on the trade market. He’s hitting .257/.328/.605 with 36 home runs on the season and has been among the sport’s elite power hitters dating back to his July renaissance in 2024. It’s easy to forget now, given how dominant Suárez has been at the plate over the past calendar year, but the beginning of the slugger’s time in Arizona was a disaster. He hit so poorly through the season’s first two-plus months that he began to lose playing time to young Blaze Alexander. That shift didn’t last long, as Suárez caught fire while Alexander stumbled.
Dating back to June 25 of last season, Suárez has come to the plate 751 times and slashed .281/.341/.605 with a whopping 60 home runs, 36 doubles and a triple. Only Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani have hit more home runs in that time (66 apiece). Suárez has bludgeoned left-handed and right-handed pitching alike. He’s being paid $15MM this season, with about $5.48MM of that sum yet to be paid out as of this writing. He’ll be a free agent at season’s end.
It’s not entirely clear yet that the Diamondbacks will trade Suárez at all, however. They swept the Cardinals in their first series coming out of the All-Star break, and though they lost to the Astros last night, they’re now just one game under .500 and 5.5 games back in the NL Wild Card chase. The Snakes have two more games against Houston before wrapping up their pre-deadline slate of games with three games in Pittsburgh and three games in Detroit.
Arizona general manager Mike Hazen has made clear that he hopes to avoid a sell-off and act as a buyer at this year’s deadline, but the team will have to perform well enough in this final push to justify that position. The Diamondbacks can also make a qualifying offer to Suárez if they hang onto him, so any trade return would need to eclipse the value of what would likely be a compensatory pick after the first-round of the 2026 draft.
[Related: Arizona Diamondbacks Trade Deadline Outlook]
If the Diamondbacks do end up seriously weighing offers for Suárez, a trade seems like a better outcome than that draft pick, however. The D-backs will likely take aim at contending again next season, and Suárez could net them some talent that can contribute either late this season or early next year. The draft selection would be a longer-term play, of course.
In theory, the Diamondbacks could even trade Suárez while still hoping to remain in contention this year. There’s no replacing his prodigious power output, but top prospect Jordan Lawlar could step into the everyday third base role down the stretch. Lawlar hasn’t hit at all in a tiny sample of 56 big league plate appearances, but he’s never been given any sort of regular playing time, either. He’s decimated Triple-A pitching this year, hitting .319/.410/.583 in 250 plate appearances. He’s currently on the minor league injured list with a hamstring strain but should return shortly after the deadline. Whether it’s this year or next, the 2021 No. 6 overall draft pick seems likely to get the opportunity to prove that he can be Arizona’s long-term option at the hot corner.
If the D-backs sell any veterans — Suárez or otherwise — they’re expected to focus on stockpiling young pitching. On the surface, that might sound like it makes Seattle a particularly appealing trade partner. However, the M’s aren’t going to trade an established starter like Logan Gilbert, Bryan Woo or George Kirby for a rental, and outside of young Logan Evans, most of their higher-end pitching prospects (e.g. Ryan Sloan, Jurrangelo Cijntje) are further down the pipeline.
That’s not to say the two sides can’t line up on a deal. At the end of the day, talent wins out, and if the Mariners offer a demonstrably better package than the Yankees, Cubs and other suitors, the positions of the prospects won’t be crucial. Arizona could look to flip some of those prospects for established big league arms in the offseason, after all. But if the D-backs are weighing two offers they deem to be comparable in value, it seems likely that they’d gravitate toward one that included some pitching talent that could be in the majors before terribly long.
The Diamondbacks lost Corbin Burnes to Tommy John surgery last month. He won’t pitch until late in the 2026 season, at the earliest. Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly are free agents at season’s end. In-house arms like Blake Walston and Tommy Henry also had UCL surgeries earlier this season. Young righty Cristian Mena has been out since June with a shoulder strain. Top pitching prospect Yilber Diaz has had a disastrous season in the minors. Big league starters Brandon Pfaadt and Eduardo Rodriguez have both struggled. Adding some young arms is a sensible aim for the D-backs front office if they go the sell route in the coming week-plus.
The Mariners, of course, traded Suárez to the D-backs in the first place. That trade, following the 2023 season, was largely driven by a mandate from Seattle ownership to reduce payroll. The Mariners did come away from that swap with righty Carlos Vargas, who’s now a key member of the bullpen (47 innings, 3.83 ERA, 11 holds), but the front office surely would’ve preferred to hold onto the slugger and his vaunted clubhouse presence if not for those financial constraints. Mariners ownership is now reportedly willing to boost payroll, putting a reunion back on the table.
This doesn’t mean Suarez is goin to Seattle. The M’s aren’t given up a Woo or a Miller here. And nor should they.
Captain Judge? More like Captain Obvious.
Also he won’t necessarily end up in New York. They aren’t giving up a Judge or Dominguez here. Nor should they.
benhen more like benten.
You appear to have forgotten the punchline, son. You’ll get ’em next time.
If they want him, they’ll have to part with one of Evans, Cijinte or Sloan.
Personally, I’m not sure they are good enough to justify parting with any of those 3 for a pure rental (they certainly won’t pay to extend him).
There isn’t a chance in hell they part with Cijinte or Sloan. But Evans probably doesn’t do it for Arizona.
I don’t care how much it takes but the mariners need Good Vibes Only back in the clubhouse
I’m fine with parting with Evans and Hancock and Vargas in order to get him and maybe naylor too, it’s an overpay for a rental but we already have 5 starters and 3 future starters in the minors
You can never have too many starters.
We’ve been lucky to avoid many long term IL stints (no TJS for any of our starters or key prospects since Ray). There is also a pretty significant chance we look to trade Castillo this offseason to free salary space for extensions or other additions.
Losing Evans as your 6th starter puts a lot more pressure on your pitching staying healthy (although I do think Morales is also a solid prospect in his own right who could move into this role; I just don’t want to see Hancock outside of emergencies). He seems to be someone easier to move next year once Cijinte and Anderson are in AA and knocking on the door.
Someone is going to overpay the question is which team?
Heard that Milwaukee maybe willing to offer three top 20 ranked prospects in thier organization for Suarez.
as long as they’re #s 18-20, that could be worthwhile
Just doesn’t feel like a Brewers move here. They could use a 3B with power, no doubt about that. Just not sure how the chemistry changes and how much of a concern that may be within the front office. Prospects are so tough to peg against a known talent who is performing at the major league level. Right now the rotation and bullpen are solid and have depth. Offense is the weaker point, but they are playing effective small ball and seem to have gotten over the swing for the fences mentality for the most part. We’ll soon see!
He going to the cubs
Id give up miller for naylor, saurez and a good reliever
That’s the perfect way to severally hinder your chances in 26 through 28 to add like 2-3% to this year.
We’ll have 5 good starters next year. The drop off from miller to Evans won’t hinder anything, it hasn’t this year. Miller’s been either bad or hurt all year.
Also we’d get 2 comp picks for naylor, saurez if you’re only thinking about the future. But it’s been 30 years and I want to win now
You can’t QO a player if he is traded mid-season.
The drop of from a healthy Miller to Evans is substantial. Healthy Miller is like a 3.5 ERA pitcher. Evans is more like a 4.3 ERA pitcher.
Also, you need to be prepared to go 8-9 starters deep in any individual season. Keeping 5 guys healthy all year is incredibly uncommon.
Not to mention Miller has little trade value right now. It makes zero sense to sell low on him.
I would love to see the Mariners give up a second haul for this guy.
Especially after salary dumping him for nothing
This is how Dipoto and the Mariners operate. They have done it with Juan Then and Mallex Smith too. It’s like the trading doors game show thing but opposite. That being said I’d like to have Geno back but it would basically be trading a top 100 draft pick away to save 10 million last season
I forgot about Juan Then. Yankees got JP Sears in that deal for Nick Rumbelow lol.
Being able to cry about losing Mallex Smith, Juan Then, and JP Sears feels like a good thing. Then and Sears would have hit waivers if not traded. I can hold a grudge like the best of them, but this is next level.
I’m not crying that we lost them. I’m just saying we traded for them, traded them away, and then traded for them back and lost every trade in a diminishing returns fashion if I’m remembering properly
The real point I’m trying to make is if we trade to get Geno back and it costs us a top prospect like the article suggests then we have lost a year and a half of Geno in the lineup AND a top prospect just to save ownership 10-15 million. As a mariners fan I’d rather have Geno the last two years and keep the prospect than ownership saving their pocket change. Players work hard for us to try and win and it’s frustrating when ownership works against them
And if you look at it from AZ perspective they paid 10-15 million for 70 home runs and a top prospect which is a pretty good return on investment
To be fair, it was a little over 12m last year and Arizona has already paid 10m of his 15m salary this year.
I don’t fault Seattle for trading Geno. The power dropped off significantly (and the power numbers have largely came at home in AZ this year) and the strikeouts were signficant.
My problem with the trade was the return. They got a handful of non-magical beans for him.
That first ‘haul’ amounted to absolutely nothing for Cincy lol.
And was more about Winker than Suarez at the time of the trade.
Oh how that worked out lol
I’m still mad the Mariners team store didn’t let me customize a “Wanker” jersey. Fraley was significantly better the whole time. Can’t stand Winker. But I’d always loved Suarez.
“That first haul amounted”..Didn’t the second “haul”, the one given by Seattle for former Cincinnati pitcher Luis Castillo, also amount to pretty much nothing for Cincy?
The Castillo trade still has a ways to go. Marte could still end up being good after a lost year due to his PED suspension and Arroyo is still a decent prospect.
Yes. Edwin Arroyo hasn’t shown up yet, but Noelvi Marte got popped for PED’s. He’s hitting in like 30+ games this year so far though. Levi Stoudt forgotten about quickly, and Andrew Moore is no longer in the system…
TRADE PROSPECTS!!! They almost always disappoint. I’m a fan of a team that’s been stocking prospects and holding onto them long for my entire lifetime.
Suarez’s power will disappear if he goes back to Seattle. He should be hoping for a trade to the Yankees or to the Tigers.
Detroit is a much harder place to hit for power than Seattle.
Marine layer is thick, Detroit is just deep to center. Eugenio is a pull god though.
He hit plenty of dingers with Seattle before. He’s the one bat on the market we know can hit here.
Looking more and more like the Yankees will probably end up with Ryan McMahon (granted Arizona doesn’t hold on to Suarez).
McMahon has been linked to the Yanks for 3 years now. I just don’t think the Rockies are smart enough to trade their *minimal* pieces.
Brother, I don’t think McMahon will be a good fit. Anyone that needs a “change of scenery”, which the pundits allege may fix him, is not the type of player Cashman should be looking for – granted, thats exactly the type of player he will likely acquire, however.
I think Suarez would be an excellent add because of his power. He will help protect others in the lineup.
But, I really think Willie Castro (if available) would be the most impactful player for the Yankees. Good defense at third, a switch-hitter with lower k-rate, and a good top-of-the-order bat. IMHO, thats exactly the type of player the Yankees need, which means he will not be acquired.
Yankee Clipper
Tbh I don’t think he’s a good fit but the other options include Hayes, IKF and of course the previous rumors early in the season surrounding Arenado. McMahon is basically a glove 1st 3B and Cashman probably loves how he’s affordable and under control for a few more years at a position they haven’t really nailed down.
Arizona covets young pitchers and I just don’t think they currently have the minor league players to get the deal done for Suarez.
Yeah, and honestly, I’d rather have McMahon than IKF or Hayes (well, maybe about as much as Hayes).
You know it’s BAD when Yankees are looking to bring in IKF as an improvement!!!!
Ugh, we will NEVER win with Boone and Cashman here.
At this point bring in Hayes’ father (just for the nostalgia)
He’s probably better than all three anyway! Lol.
Willie Mays Hayes?
McMahon is trash. Mendoza hitter on the road..
The Brewers have the pitching that no one else has and that AZ needs and will require in a deal. Just depends if they want to go all in or not. Tough to hit homers in Detroit or Seattle. What pitching do the Yankees have to give up or the Cubs for that matter? The Yankees current rotation is a dumpster fire. The Cubs are throwing Colin Rae every 5th day.
Per Statcast, Suarez would have 37 HR had he played all of his games in Seattle this season compared to 35 for both Detroit and Arizona.
“Mariners, D-backs Have Discussed Eugenio Suarez.”
Meanwhile, Atlanta, the Cardinals, the Rockies, and the Mets and other teams with little to no valuable assets to trade are discussing Malthus and The Law of Diminishing Returns.
I needed a rabbit hole and thank you good sir for pointing one out!
Milwaukee, Seattle, Detroit, Cubs, Yankees top five destinations for Suarez. I say who ever gives AZ the most ML ready pitchers get him. I’m thinking also who really is going all in for a WS appearance gets him or are they going to pull back and go a different way settle for McMahon (Col), or Hayes (Pit).
Nine days to go, which team is going all in, AZ could make out really well in this bidding war.
Won’t get multiple MLB ready pitchers. But the high quality pitcher is probably the goal. I do imagine any trade with Arizona for Suarez or Naylor also includes Gallen, Kelly, or a reliever as well which will increase Arizonas return.
With 7 to 8 teams that may have interest, the big question is who will feel the most desperate to rent Suarez for the rest of the season? Then the return on the desperation moves by those teams to acquire Suarez may be something pretty good just to get Suarez alone. But yes, if you add a Gallen. Kelly to that you again will not get Hazen to just throw in those pitchers to complete the deal, last year pitching was at a higher cost then the hitters. This year is no different., So I don’t expect any pitching going in a deal with Suarez to be just a throw in to complete a deal for Suarez not with 7 to 8 teams in the bidding war.
Second haul? They robbed him from Cincy
That’s a real drag for Suarez, heading back to Seattle after two great seasons with the D’Backs. Inevitable that he is traded but I’d think that would be exhausting heading back to the team that traded you two seasons ago.
“Carlos Vargas and Seby Zavala and now you want me back!”
He just said at the all star game he liked his time in Seattle and would be great to go back.
Mr. Ricketts and Mr. Hoyer make it happen. 3rd baseball upgrade and pitching depth is welcomed. Buckle up Cubs nation gonna be a fun summer and October.
Your right cubs nation. Gonna be a great summer and October, just in Milwaukee not chicago.
I dont think the Mariners need Suarez as much as the Yankees or Brewers do. The Mariners have Williamson just like the Cubs have Shaw. Both guys play excellent defense at a position where defense is important.
These teams looking to add Suarez are buying his 36 home runs, on the idea he will keep hitting HR’s at the pace he is hitting right now. It’s a big gamble. Hazen has the Golden Goose, and all these teams are going into this bidding war, question is for Suarez alone what is the price that they will overpay and by overpay by how much. And will he keep hitting HR’s at this pace.
Calm down acting like Suarez is baby Jesus.
My guess is Suarez gets packaged with Gallen or Kelly plus perhaps Beeks or Miller for a better return. The Yankees could trade their top 2 picks from last years draft i think their names are Hess and Cunningham. The Brwmewers I dont know what they have.
I’ve heard that the Brewers are going all in for Suarez by himself, are said to go as far as maybe trading 3 of their top 20 ranked prospects, two of them being pitchers and one being a 3B. I could see Suarez by himself either going to Seattle or Milwaukee. Now if the the D’Backs want to trade Suarez to the Yankees it will take more than just Suarez, but I can’t see Hazen taking back a lower tier prospects that the Yankee want to offer, not with Seattle and Milwaukee having stronger farm systems.
Do you want to have a conversation or do you want to just give me a speech?
I told him to calm down because hes a DBacks fan acting like he just won the lottery because his team is playing poorly enough to be sellers at the deadline.
Probably shouldn’t have traded him for nothing to begin with!
When Suárez played for the Mariners his numbers were ok.. what stood out was he struck out over 200 times with them. It was so bad they offloaded him to Arizona for Zelby and a reliever. I don’t understand why they want him back for what will be a very different trade package to re-acquire him.
Proposed deal: Suarez and Kelly to NYY for Spencer Jones and Schlittler or no deal at all.
I think thats fair but not sure if the DBacks need another lefty hitting outfielder.
Yankees would not do that for two rentals. The return on Schlittler or Jones would need to be guys with multiple years of control.
Where would Lawlar play?
Maybe shift Ketel Marte to 1B and put Lawlar at 2B. Naylor is a free agent after this year, so there would be an opening at 1B.
Lawlar really needs to move to 2B or LF, maybe filling in in CF once in a while. He has the range for 3B, but his arm is fringy at best. It’s the same reason he isn’t a great fit at SS.
He’s a great clubhouse guy and could hit as many as 15 homers in the last 50 games if he gets hot. And he’ll strike out 75 times in the same period. I’d want Naylor over Geno because Williamson is great on defense and Naylor’s contact rate is so good, but Mariners gonna Mariner.
I agree Naylor is a better fit for the Mariners and should cost a lot less in trade capital to acquire. The Mariners could also use Beeks or Miller for their pen.
Defense aside M’s have a combined 96 wRC+ at first base (league average 103), 82 at third (league average 96).
But its not defense aside. Defense matters.
@King – You’re right, of course. Defense is half the game, especially true for a 3B, but fans don’t get that until it’s too late.
This is honestly a win/win for the dbacks. If a team doesn’t blow you out of the water for any of the rentals just keep them and go after the playoffs still. Offer a QO at seasons end and if they reject it you get a comp pick which is a first or second rounder. I’d rather them be in first place and have a good shot at playoffs but the spot there in really isn’t bad.
I think the prospect of having Suarez hit regularly at Yankee stadium is too great to pass up; a hefty deal of Jones, Warren, Peraza & a low level prospect or two would do well for a Kelly-Suarez trade, if Hal would be willing to open his wallet more.
That and I am still mad that Jerry & co dumped Eugenio before he got a Mariners bobblehead night. The guy was great in Seattle…
That is such an awful trade for the Yankees so you’re either an Arizona fanboy or a Red Sox/met bandwagon fan.
To late, deal with NY is done
Naylor would be a good pickup for the Brewers. Platoon with Vaughn at 1B instead of worrying about 3B or SS bats — both players improving and their glove work is superior.
And would be cheaper than Suarez.
When it comes to good, young, controllable and most importantly available pitchers, the Yankees are probably the best team to call.
This comment doesn’t make sense as they’re targeting starting pitching over the next week or so.
Someone is going to acquire a below average piece that doesn’t help them get any further.
I still would rather see the Mariners get Naylor at 1B. I think he would be a little bit cheaper and you can get away with Williamson playing 3B and taking away runs with his glove an batting 9th. Suarez is having an amazing year but Naylor batting 3rd or 4th would be great, He does put the ball in play a little more than Suarez does. Get Naylor and then if you still feel you need an upgrade at Third go get Willy Castro and Griffin Jax from the twins. Those three players would help a ton and offensively would really lengthen the Mariners line-up.
Yup this I agree 100%
As a Yankee fan I’m totally fine with Seattle trading for Suarez. He strikes out too much and plays below average defensively so in all honesty the Yankees need more contact and less strikeout. In the playoffs they can’t hit good pitching and manufacture runs because the lineup is too strikeout non contact heavy. Trading away high end upcoming prospects for a 34yo rental such as Suarez is not appealing to me. He will help Seattle lineup and he will be another big homer in high strikeout bat in the Yankee lineup.
Willi Castro would be a good fit imo
Just a hunch but I don’t think the D’backs will trade Geno. Naylor is more likely. Geno they might be willing to give a QO to.
Can the Mariners just trade Vargas and Selby back for Suarez?
Suarez was traded to the Diamondbacks, not only to cut payroll but also to reduce the team’s overall strikeouts. If Suarez does come back to M’s, it would be interesting to see if his strikeouts start to increase.
Btw, I wouldn’t consider RP Vargas a key member of the bullpen.
Suarez won’t be traded to the Mariners. Instead, your consolation prize will be Naylor..for one of Evans, Cijinte or Sloan, plus another top 30 prospect in your system.
I’m as excited about adding new prospects to the farm in Arizona as anyone, but Naylor is not worth a top pitching prospect like that on his own. Suarez might be with a bidding war. You’re aiming unbelievably high…
Mariners fans live in the past regarding Suarez. Dbacks fans saw that Suarez at the beginning of last year, and we wanted him gone. But then Suarez changed his preparation away from what the Mariners coaches taught him, and it totally flipped a switch for him. For the past year plus, he is on the same elite level as Ohtani and Judge.
We understand why Mariners fans are skeptical. It’s your hitting coaches who failed him and you’re afraid they will do it to him again. Truth is, your offense is pathetic because your hitting coaches suck.
I hope Suarez doesn’t have to go back to that environment. He’s too nice a guy to get stuck in that morass again.
You have zero idea about anything. Just baseless hatred for the Mariners. At any rate, the Mariners have completely different hitting coaches than when Geno was here. And Seattle’s overall offense is much improved. It would help your arguments to actually pay attention to the game and look at stats, etc.
Sob
So we agree (and the Mariners organization agrees) that the hitting coaches who were there when Suarez was there, didn’t do Suarez any favors. So they were replaced this year. That’s a nice, politically correct way to say the Seattle hitting coaches sucked, which is what I said in a less politically correct way.
My main point however, was to Mariners fans who live in the past with their evaluation of Suarez. The fact is that the Dbacks hitting coaches helped straighten him out, to the point where he is now an elite level power hitter, and not the strikeout machine the Mariners fans knew.
So, when evaluating the current elite level power hitting Suarez’ trade value, Mariners fans need to live with present realities, instead of living in the past.
I think you were in a better mood when you wrote this one. Appreciate it!
Seattle can outbid all of these other teams that are interested.
Not sure if that’s by design or if it just happens to be that the Cubs roster trends white Caucasian. They have Latino players, they are 30 – 40% of all major leaguers, so it would be near impossible and strategically stupid to go that route.
So the D-backs want pitchers who are close to MLB level…the thing is most teams will not trade those sorts of guys just for a rental. Would have to be some sort of package deal? Which team has the most pitching talent the closest to MLB ready? I think the Cubs and Yankees won’t trade those sorts of guys just for a rental, and the Mariners don’t have guys that are close enough. Perhaps Milwaukee or Cincinnati have better options.
Honestly the mariners would be paying for 2 months of eugenio. I dont think that’s worth as much as dbacks think it is. With the M’s with the #1 farm system in bigs, getting Tai Peete and M. MORALES would be enough. Morales is a 3rd round pick and peete was top 30 overall. Thats a good haul for maybe 55 games of eugenio.
Let him go anywhere but New York. He has rocks for hands and is so overpriced. I rather see Hayes on the Yankees.
Now that the Dbacks have been swept at home by the Astros and are 3-3 since coming out of the All-Star break, I join with most other Dbacks fans in saying…Let the bidding frenzy begin!
With an old team like the Mets (everyone of reliable value except Soto will be 30 or older in 2026), Suarez is someone you absolutely should be targeting.
Vientos continues to flop around like a fish on a boat deck. Maurico’s back to being simply bad since June 26 and holds a .287 OBP for the year. Marte and Winker will be iffy for the rest of the season to the point if they celebrate too enthusiastically or play a few innings in the field they’re headed for the IL.
That leaves 2B for Baty, moving McNeil to CF as often as possible, and 3B or DH for Suarez depending on matchups and the availability of Marte, Mauricio, and Vientos.
If Stearns also wants to defray some of the cost of a starting pitcher at the deadline, Keller would be a nice multiyear pickup, who also makes someone like Megill tradable to further lower the effective cost. Then just suffer the cost and add someone like Coulombe to the pen, move Holmes to the pen, and you’re probably better than any team in MLB, with four good starters, a strong pen that runs Diaz-Holmes-Coulombe-Raley-Garrett-Brazoban-Butto-??? I’d ‘forget’ Stanek at an airport, and if they don’t deal him Megill rates to be back by mid-August. Otherwise, if it’s only your eighth reliever you’re concerned about, it’s not much of a problem.
If you don’t seriously go for it with a team this old but that has very good frontline talent, what are you doing? The aging curve projects a loss of 5-7 wins in 2026 just from players over 29 getting a year older. You’d need to turn two prospects into good regulars every year just to tread water. Who knows if Alonso’s going to be back next season, or if he’ll have anything like those first five weeks when he carried the team. Lindor’s defense is beginning to slide, he’ll be 32 next year, and he pro rates to a 4 bWAR season in 2025, his worst since 2021. . Senga’s great but unreliable. He’ll be 33. Diaz will be 32. McNeil 34. Manaea 34. Montas and Minter, hurt, will be picking up their player options at 33 and 32. Nimmo will be 33.
Is it really worth keeping Jacob Reimer or Elian Pena or Jesus Baez and not push hard this year?
There shouldn’t be a comma before “either.”
