Who is the healthy team heading into the playoffs? Seems like the top teams are already starting to rest or stumbling to the finish line with the M’s playing good and healthy ball.
Not only are the Mariners coasting into the postseason on a heater (winning 14 out of 15) they are virtually as healthy as a team can be at this time of year. (With Woo skipping tomorrow’s start only out of an abundance of precaution because of a minor pec flareup.) Good vibes only in Seattle right now!!!!
The consensus from Cardinal beat writers and indications from Chaim Bloom are full rebuild next year, but Cardinal fans seem to think they can still contend. This seems ridiculous since all the investments are going to development infrastructure and coaching, not payroll. As a lifelong Cardinal fan who remembers the pre-Pujols years, I’m hoping to blow it up, let the prospects have a chance, and build a team that can compete with Milwaukee and Chicago in 2027 because competing in 2026 is unrealistic.
King of cards won’t accept this or won’t be happy!
They gave out those no trade clauses and those players didn’t want traded. Until they change their mind there’s no full rebuild. They won’t get anything impactful in trade so it would just be tanking to get draft picks. There do nothing off season cost them half a million in attendance. How much will another year like that cost them? The draft lottery odds isn’t worth losing millions in attendance. I don’t think they have a Cease Crochet or Turner Scherzer Soto to trade. If they do then rebuild sure.
Hopefully it’s cards fans and media suggesting trade Donovan because the other 29 teams fans should have very low interest in him.
He’s a 2b only. Sure you can place him elsewhere. Platoon only. Sure he isn’t awful vs LHP. No speed. No power. Arbitration. He’s a 1 and half tool platoon. Just keep your prospects and sign Arraez Frazier or make a much cheaper under the radar trade.
Not hating on the guy. He’s a well above average player. I would even trade for him if I could do a quantity unload my trash trade. Top 100 prospect or even in that area zero interest.
Could be injury prone as well because he plays so hard; really respect his game. Wish he was healthy.
The Tigers’ slide is solely on the head of the GM Scott Harris. They needed starters so he went out and got pitchers who can’t pitch or soak up innings. The pen is spent.
It’s on the fans.
They set the presidence for passivity over the last decade, allowing Chris Illich to develop a strategy of his own.
Tolerance is a real thing in business and business models.
Still gonna hear what a great “entertaining” season it was again this year.
At this point they can still make the playoffs, still win the World Series.
Luck is a real thing in baseball, especially when augmented by skill, blood, sweat and determination….
Leave the tears at home.
I noticed Petzold didn’t have any quotes in his article about Wednesday’s game. I wonder if the Tigers are boycotting him after he said in the headline of his previous article that Skubal “choked.”
I cannot imagine any team sports locker room EVER forgiving a reporter for calling any player, much less the best one, a choker. Not sure if he’s trying to generate clicks, but it was a bad move on his part that could linger with him for years.
Doesn’t appear on the page anymore. They must have changed it.
Both Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez were called chokers early on. Clayton Kershaw is still known for choking. The Tigers are losers now on many levels.
Then Why are the Cardinals Broadcasters saying this should be one of the most interesting Off-Seasons the Cardinals have had in years???
Have the principal Owners (DeWitts) actually decided spend some Money in hopes of drawing another million fans back to Busch stadium in 2026. That’s the only thing that will show they actually care!!!!!!
Javy’s offense has been unspectacular, but his defense is still outstanding. He just made a diving catch on a flare that not many SS’s make — certainly not Sweeney or McKinstry.
Then he scored the winning run. (Meadows and maybe Sweeney score on that play, but nobody else but Javy.)
Now today, Javy blasts a 3-run blast over the Green Monster for a 3-1 lead at Boston as the Rangers go up 2 on Cleveland.
