Dodgers Sell Stults To Hiroshima Carp

By Tim Dierkes | March 31, 2010 at 6:42pm CDT

WEDNESDAY, 6:42pm: Stults' deal with Hiroshima is worth roughly $700K plus bonuses, tweets NPB Tracker.

TUESDAY, 5:26pm: Los Angeles is expected to receive between $300K and $400K for Stults, tweets Hernandez.

TUESDAY, 11:36am: The Dodgers sold pitcher Eric Stults to the Hiroshima Carp, reports Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times.  The 30-year-old southpaw was known to be available, as the Dodgers prefer other pitchers for the fifth starter job.  The Hanshin Tigers and Chiba Lotte Marines also had an eye on Stults.

Stults posted a 4.86 ERA, 5.9 K/9, and 4.7 BB/9 in ten starts for the Dodgers last year.  He made another 13 starts in the minors, putting up similar numbers.

I was hoping that the Orix Buffaloes would sign him…I just don’t know how the division will pan out now.

I guess this means Carlos Monasterios will be the Dodgers 5th starter unless Ramon Ortiz proves them otherwise.

its to the point where you don’t even know if he’ll be on the team by the time the season begins. they’re picking their team and selling the rest.

They’ve made it pretty blatantly obvious that Haeger will be the 5th starter and Monasterios a middle reliever since Carlos can’t seem to get more than once through a lineup.

Looks like they may use Ramon Ortiz as a 7th inning guy until Bellisario and Kuo are ready.

I hope they didn’t sell him for Toyota products.

Why not? They could use somebody with that kind of speed.

Because they want someone who won’t break down.

This sounds like that joke the Phillies played on Kyle Kendrick a while back, where they “traded” him to a Japanese team. Although this time, it’s real. Good luck Stults.

Look up the Kyle Kendrick traded to Japan on youtube for laughs :=)
A player must agree to a move to Japan, and they usually go for it because they make LOTS OF MONEY, certainly more than in AAA and probably more than they would as the 23rd man on a 25 man roster in MLB.

Anything to make a few extra bucks. At least Frank didn’t have to borrow any.

Every night I PRAY that something happens to force the McCourts to sell the team. Us Dodger fans deserve better than this.
