Reverse Standings

By Tim Dierkes | September 1, 2010 at 11:30am CDT

Is your favorite team sitting out the pennant race this year?  Have you lost all desire to follow them in September?  MLBTR has the perfect solution: reverse standings!

Our new reverse standings page will be automatically updated each morning to show the latest projected 2011 draft order for the first round.  Will the Orioles make a "run" at the Pirates for the first overall pick?  Will the Nationals make up ground on the Royals, Cubs, Diamondbacks, Indians, and Mariners to jump from the ninth to the third pick?  Every loss counts!

Haha, nicely done! However, if you lose desire to follow your team in September because of standings, you’re not much of a fan!

Spoken likely an annually spoiled big-market-team fan. Let me guess, Herbert, you’re a Yankees, Red Sox, Twins, White Sox, Angels, Cardinals, Phillies, Braves, Dodgers or even Mets fan?

I wonder if fans of the Orioles, Royals or Pirates would agree with such a “not much of a fan” assessment. Heck, for those teams, following them in April makes for a “super fan”!

Are you kidding? How’d you come up with that? As a Jays fan, I obviously can’t stand the Yankees.

Right, because they have media attention like NY.

nobody has media attention like NY. Doesn’t mean they aren’t a large market team though. If you go along those lines only the Red Sox and Yankee’s are large market teams and that’s simply not true.

Yea, the Angels are gonna get a top 10 pick. So as an Angel fan I say shut it.

It’s kinda funny to see the Twins here. 10 years ago they were the small market team that couldn’t win and needed to be relocated. Just because a team is spending doesn’t mean they have a large market, it just means they are operated correctly. The Braves, Twins, and Cardinals are all successful franchises located in small to medium markets.

You couldn’t possibly be more wrong with that statement. I’m a Blue Jays fan that lives in the area, and have had to endure many poor seasons. Maybe you should’ve either A) checked out some of my posts to find that out, or B) actually asked me, instead of coming to the preposterous conclusion that just because I don’t give up watching my team because of standings I must be a fan of any of those teams.

        Utterly moronic post.

How are the Twinkies a spoiled big market team, we could be but we haven’t really shown it yet… If you wanna talk big market add the Tigers at least

I’m just hoping that the Tigers finish no better than 16th overall, so they won’t have to give up a first round pick when they sign Crawford!

first 16 picks are protected, they’d give up their second round pick instead.

the tigers are going to lose their first round pick because they r going to sign a type a free agent . and the tigers r out of the playoffs. im watching them because i created my own division with the tigers , athletics, angels, blue jays and the royals

as of today, the Tigers are 18th overall, and would not lose their first round pick for signing a Type A free agent. The first 15 picks are protected.

That makes no sense. If the 1st 15 are protected, they will most certainly loose their 18th pick.

The team with the 18th best record gets the 13th pick. The top 15 picks are protected, so they’d lose a second round pick.

They already have a top 10 pick protected fr next draft, they will probably get something like 6 and 7.

Figures, even when my Reds are winning and one of the best teams in the league, someone finds a way for them to be near the bottom 😛 Nice to have this though for the teams that are out of it…I know the feeling all too well.

Damn Felix Hernandez and his good pitching for keeping the M’s from losing every game. 😉

Still, I’m hopeful that the M’s will be one of the worst 4 teams, so that even if they lose out on Anthony Rendon, one of Matt Purke or Gerrit Cole will still be there to take.

A depressed M’s fan can hope(and also hope that they finally sign James Paxton, too.)

This is the only thing that keeps me interested in Angels baseball right now. Here’s to hoping that they can continue their epic meltdown. Only a 3 game cushion right now. Bet anything that they do just enough to climb out of the bottom half. If that happens, they will inevitably sign a Type A and forfeit their highest draft choice in years.

Just an FYI that we were not yet able to code something in to automatically account for tiebreakers. For teams with identical records you will have to look up last year’s record as mentioned in the asterisk.

No one sits around rooting for their team to lose however I certainly watch the standings and see just how close the Orioles are to losing out on the #2 pick. Nice watching them go 17-10 under Showalter.

a few things first dont say we cuz no one here is part of any mlb organization nor get paid by them so your just fans.i am a rays fan and they dont have alot of money but at least i stick with my team and try for something new instead of the nyy or boston they got this far cuz of the draft plus they got some others jennings hellickson tim beckham plus a few from cuba.its like in all sports the teams with the bad records battle for draft positon which is kinda smart.imagine a team tanks a season to get lebron james in 2003 or bosh wade anthony that is smart strategy.it dont matter its something all us fans can only watch wishing we can play a game in the mlb even if its for a small market team.cuz i doubt boston or nyy would go for anyone here have a good day
