The Indians have designated Jeremy Accardo for assignment, according to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com (via Twitter). The move will allow Cleveland to recall left-hander Chris Seddon who last appeared in the majors in 2010 with the Mariners. Seddon will take the hill for the Tribe tomorrow against the Tigers.
Accardo, 30, has a 4.58 ERA with 7.1 K/9 and 4.1 BB/9 in 26 appearances this year for the Indians. For his career, the right-hander has a 4.27 ERA with 6.5 K/9 and 3.5 BB/9 in eight seasons with the Giants, Blue Jays, Orioles, and Indians.

“Hes a proven closer”

I’m not gonna lie… He had one good year with the Jays,

Oh definitely. Just mocking one of the most outrageous and meaningless cliche’s. Right along with “he plays the game the right way”.

mocking conventional closer wisdom = automatic win in my book.

At the rate my Indians are losing, I think half of the team should be designated for assignment. Its getting ridiculous. As for Accardo, he was only used for mop up duty so there really isn’t much to say about him.

I liked him when he played for the Jays…He be a good in the ‘pen.

did he throw his hat in the garbage?

I think that SF Giants GM Brian Sabean will go after Reliever Jeremy Accardo due to The fact his bull-pen needs another arm. I personally think that Former San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins reliever Heath Bell would be a great fit in The City by The Bay.
