Twins Release Taylor Motter

By Jeff Todd | August 22, 2018 at 1:43pm CDT

The Twins organization announced today that it has released utilityman Taylor Motter. He had been playing at Triple-A Rochester.

Motter, 28, has only seen 16 games of major-league action this year but has taken 411 MLB plate appearances since the start of 2016. He’s capable of playing all over the field, but hasn’t distinguished himself at the plate. Motter is a .191/.263/.312 hitter in that span, with ten home runs and 13 steals.

Since he was claimed off waivers from the Mariners in late May, Motter has spent most of his time in the upper minors. On the year, he carries a meager .187/.277/.352 batting line in 364 plate appearances in the Seattle and Minnesota systems.

I guess this move really doesn’t “Motter”since the Twins are out of it anyway.

Too many puns… This isn’t funny, it’s a very serious motter.

Dear braves, stay away. This seems like the type of guy yall would love to take a chance on, and although it might seem low risk as a minor league deal, I can tell you now that you would ultimately be wasting your time. Thanks

He was just horrible. It didn’t take watching more than 3 at bats to realize it.

Glad they’re opening some spots on the 40 man. Let’s release Robbie Grossman, while we’re at it, Thad.

I remember after April last year Mariners fans acting like this guy was some kind of cornerstone player. Silliness.

I don’t think any Mariner fan sad that even when he was doing good for 2 weeks.

I remember when Mariners fans were going nuts “like how does Jerry find these guys?”

Right when I was going to buy the “Motter Style” wig to feel like a cool, long-haired dude that sometimes is on a Major League roster but is usually in AAA and isn’t very good overall, they get rid of him. I’ll need a day to recover, so I’ll be back by Friday.

The clubhouse staff in Rochester were pissed at him because he kept clogging the drains in the shower.
