Mets Sign Erasmo Ramirez To Minor League Deal

By George Miller | January 26, 2020 at 2:30pm CDT

The Mets have signed right-handed pitcher Erasmo Ramirez to a minor league deal, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com. He’ll get a non-roster invite to big league camp.

Ramirez, 29, spent last year in the Red Sox organization, pitching mostly in Triple-A and making one appearance with the big league team. In 125 1/3 innings with Boston’s Triple-A affiliate, Ramirez notched a 4.74 ERA and struck out 95 batters. In his last stint of sustained big league action, he made 10 starts with the 2018 Mariners, working to a 6.50 ERA.

With the Mets’ rotation mix looking full with the signings of Michael Wacha and Rick Porcello, Ramirez looks mostly like a depth signing who can start in the minor leagues and offer emergency innings in the Majors if necessary.

99% agree lol. Though as with every team having weak pens you do sign who you can and if they don’t break camp and keep them in AAA. Hoping a patch work of pitchers get you thru. But cheap yes. Marte should be a Met already. Can’t wait till Wilkins sell off

They already have 13 pitchers locked in, guess he couldn’t find a landing spot where there would be an opportunity for breaking out of camp without needing an injury.

He’ll have to deal with many homers with the Mets, starting with the beat writers to the fans.

They’ll be the next cubs… it’s obvious from A mile away. I’ll be 93 and the 20 marlin fans will be raving about their farm.

Says the fan of the team that hasn’t won a championship since 1986. If there is any NL East fan base that should worry about their team becoming the Cubs, it is the Mets fan base. 33 years and counting. If it hadn’t been for the Red Sox imploding in Game 6, it’d be 50 years and counting.

And a quick update on NL East teams last championships

          Nats – 2019

          Phillies – 2008

          Marlins – 2003

          Marlins – 1997

          Braves – 1995

          Mets – 1986

All facts about the past. But the future? Marlins are nowhere close. Absolutely no reason to tune into a marlins game this year.

Actually, we’re all excited because starting this year, a lot of the prospects will start coming up at some point this year and next year.

As for past and future etc., can’t celebrate a championship you haven’t won yet (if at all). I know you Mets fans like all the imagined championships you’ve already won in the offseason and Spring Training every year until reality strikes at some point during the season, but I like to count and enjoy the championships that were actually won. Those will always be in the past. Only the imagined ones are in the future. I know you Mets fans like to live in fantasy world because that’s where your championships have been won for the last 33 years, but that doesn’t work for me.

And even with the future, don’t look now, but the Marlins are about to reverse the rebuild…while your latest window is closing again.

Our window will always be bigger than yours. The pathetic marlins don’t know how to run a team… your two prospects hat have come up look like bust… brinson and Diaz.. and Monte is 24 and hasn’t even made the majors.. the marlins are just sad and will always be the Mets little brother.

Talk about the future. Mets will win a championship sooner than marlins

Yeah, Marlins don’t know how to run a team and the Mets clearly do.

Who is it that has the longest championship drought in the NL East?

Mets will win a championship sooner than the Marlins? Yeah, Mets fans said that in 1998 when we were in the first year of our fire sale rebuild. That didn’t turn out so well for Mets fans.

          I’ll save this though.

Oh yeah…and let me not forget…1986!
